I like how the game is coming. I'm okay with the multiplayer. My main reason for wanting this game is to explore. And if I find another guy cool but I'm playing for the exploration. So Sean Murry if you watch this keep up the good work man and don't let the hype bother you. We're here with you and we can't wait to see your masterpiece in action.
I've seen so many become overhyped on No Man's Sky already, they imagine stuff that's not even in the game and that has been confirmed countless times. It's a game about exploring, that's basically it! That's the main hook. I honestly don't understand how so many just jump on a bandwagon and imagining big scenarios in a game that we still know little about, all while they could just google the game and get hard facts. There are still people clambering to the idea that the game has big multiplayer component.. it has multiplayer, but not at all in the traditional sense.
I know what you mean. Too many people still think they can build bunkers into the planets that'll last forever. It's exploration with a few combat and economy aspects, and it's a game I highly look forward to.
The thing is, not everybody needs to play games where they are killing things all of the time. Being able to explore an entire galaxy is amazing. it's something that has NEVER been done and probably never will. It's unique. They could just make another mindless shooter, but is that really all gaming has become? If you need to have more action than fine. But at least give them credit for doing the impossible.
I so respect what Sean & co are doing to protect their vision of this game, to not bow to pressure to make it into a shooter or RPG. The game is exactly what it is. This is the best interview I've seen about No Man's Sky to date. :)
This was basically my reaction upon watching the end of that trailer... "No Man's Sky" *Yes?* "Coming" *Oh my God, YES! WHEN! TELL ME TELL ME!* "June 2016 *FUCK!*
Ive already made my mind up to not think too much on this game until right before release. This is the game I have been waiting for and Sean seems to have a genuine ambition for the game. Thats enough for me. Come summer time next year I will be traversing thousands of planets, documenting species, mining, discovering cave systems, stealing resources from cargo ships and any player who crosses my path. Lone ranger space pirate is what I'll be. An outlaw. See you in the cosmos, my friends.
What a fascinating man. When I first saw this game I was amazed at what it was trying to do but thought it would not be for me. Now I want to buy the game just to support someone who is trying to reduce the hype of the game and actually say to people 'it's not what you think it is.' It's a breath of fresh air in the gaming industry.
While others moan about the game looking boring, I'll be off observing or taking on thousands of different species from small to massive in living breathing eco systems. Then I'll fly out into deep space 9 and escort alien cargo ships while fighting off space pirates for them. Sean has explained all these things already. If that's not for you, so be it but I've been waiting my while life for a game like this.
Eurogamer interview with Sean Murray. Who? A genius of our generation, a visionary; the ambitious creator of No Man's Sky. Available in June 2016 for Microsoft Windows and SONY Playstation 4. Your Excellency also had the nobility to quote Journey (PS3 / PS4) while chatting with Oli Welsh. The Playstation does not have the most amount of exclusive; but thanks to this platform I could try Journey (by far my favorite game) and next year, No Man's Sky; which will be the only game capable of overcoming my hours of Destiny gameplay. This game created by Hello Games is a reason to take care of my health, and face with patience the months passed. Countdown has begin. I want, I want No Man's Sky in my life. #4theplayers
So will there be loads of servers or will every player be in the same universe? If so it is theoretically possible to get 100,000 players on the same planet which I doubt would be possible.
+Will Parkinson It was an early reveal or no reveal at all, I mean, they were offered a rare opportunity which they grabbed by the horns. If they never had that appearance on VGX '13, then it'd be nowhere as big as it was now. Besides, I don't see how them revealing it at the end of '13 is any worse than the likes of some other companies, I mean, Kingdom Hearts 3 has been in the works forever and it got its first teaser trailer in June '13, you don't see people complaining about that.
+Will Parkinson Maybe or maybe you're just impatient. It's a hard game to make. It's a team of 10. Many indie games are announced/revealed early in development. Perhaps if they didn't announce the game and get the huge response, they wouldn't have had motivation to continue making the game anymore after the flood they had at their studio.
+sterkrazzy Sorry about that - long story, but pretty much our only option was to film on the roof. It was fine when we tested the mics but, as soon as the cameras started rolling, the wind picked up. As did the construction site.
+Eurogamer Having recently got in to film/audio editing, and with a few outside shoots under my belt, I think you did a really good job at isolating the speech!
A lot of people don't like games based around exploration. When you see these shots of dogfights, and combat, it's easy to mistake this for a game where those things happen, but I anxiously await a game I can sit back on the couch, and just explore a new world. Also, Aoife needs some sun, she blends right in with the white background
I agree that he was guarded and low-key. I just hope he and the team will be content with it when it's time to launch the game. People just have to control the hype. it wont be the best game ever... BUT I think it will be a good game.
This is and has always been "Starbound" the game but in 3D. And to be fair, starbound will have ALOT more content then this will when this launches. Similar to Starbound, NMS will grow too, but it takes time to add new systems into games. I'm still super hyped. I love starbound and it is very relaxing and doing it in VR is a dream.
I don't understand why everyone's so concerned about this games experience "holding up" over time. No game will make your life complete. Everything wears itself out over time as you familiarize yourself with it. Murray has even said he expects people to play it for some dozens of hours, reach the galaxy center, see pretty much all the game has to offer, then stop playing. It'll be fun for a time, and we will tire of it. That's OK!
+R Davian It's multiplayer in the way that living on earth is multiplayer. Except the scale of the game is if you lived in Australia and the only other person on earth lived in Norway. You're not restricted, you could meet up with them if you put in the effort to find out exactly where they were and worked out how to get to them. What he's just saying is that it's a simultaneous multiplayer experience because the game takes place "in the cloud" - but it's not multiplayer like local couch co-op Mario Kart, or an online matchup in Halo. I hope that's a useful explanation. :) He's just making a distinction to help manage people's expectations.
You guys still missed the main thing: This is NOT a multiplayer game. Aside from that it seems to have most of what people are expecting from this game.
+SirCruxable but we were told about that almost as soon as the game began to be spoken of; blows my mind that people are still running around with the thought that this is going to be some amazing multiplayer experience. Anyone actually interested just checked online; anything branded 'Hello Games: Sean Murray' precludes facts..
Brett Naysmith Agreed, just thought I'd highlight that point since so many miss it. I've been well aware of the fact but it seems most people are expecting everything it is, but also MP or even MMO size. I think it's cool enough that the market and names players give stuff is shared.
Jeebus a developer whos not completely up himself and focused on his project. John Romero would be dazed and confused. Nice arty setting with the fruit bowl too.
My friends, are big cod gamers, and there always playing it with no intent on enjoying a game, i said hey check out No Man's Sky, everyone that i know said what garbage, and that's whats wrong with gaming now a days, it steered in to the wrong path, but this game may just be what we need for the right way.
+Eric Cartman hmmmmm, exploring a vast universe filled with different creatures and planets or getting my head shot off whilst a bunch of 10 year olds tell me all the bedrooms my mother has supposedly been in......tough choice...
exactly people treat gaming like a job where you want to win meaningless medals and challenges instead of just enjoying the game for what you got from the start and learning to live and have fun with the game and not the achievement
You can all but bet if this game does well, other game developers are going to go the similar route. They will make massive universes with all the combat etc you can thing of. Where people can team up with friends, have missions where you have to raid bases. Join other groups to pull of a raid of a planet base where you have to work together to pull it off. I mean what hello games is going to do is change what massive games can be like. Others will take it and do what they are not to feed what people will really want to do. Then you picture a starwars kind of feel with empires etc. Ohh man......
What is it about space right now? Star citizen released a kickstarter and it blew up, and people working on space games before now want to get it released as soon as possible. ps. They need to make this game addictive, which means finding a planet with life is like heroin. That is what would make you want to actually go down to one or see from orbit that its obviously barren.
I doubt we'll even be able to find anyone to play with on multiplayer. Over a quadrillion planets out of probably the millions of people who will buy it. Finding another player would be extremely rare and you're just gonna be by yourself most of the time anyways
+PeppaJackable it has 18 Quintilian planets like the sun will die out before you see them all the chances of seeing another player are rare but as you get closer to the center who knows:)
+Kylr Avery (Tenor Sounds) as long as it doesn't stop you from meeting up with friends on purpose and flying around, im ok with it. Dont have a pc at the moment, and we're all buying this regardless of multiplayer.
kheartsify It doesn't stop you, but you have to realize that finding another player in a to-scale galaxy and then finding each-other on a planet-sized planet isn't going to be easy. If anything, finding and meeting up with your friends would be a whole major objective in-and-of itself, and could easily take longer than simply reaching the center of the galaxy on your own.
Universe* I think he said that there's multiple galaxies. Also, if you and your friends start on opposite ends, finally reaching the same point could take up the whole life span of the game... Good luck tho, I had the same goal too once lol
+Kylr Avery (Tenor Sounds) that sounds perfect to me. We will probably spend weeks/months just playing like this lol. I wonder what the view is seeing other ships outside of the planet. Will there be multiple servers? For example, will we have the same centre of the galaxy?
I don't see the hype about this game, likes what the point of doing this game. I think this game is for the people who are obsessed with the idea that graphics make a game good when that's not the case. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool but it will certainly get boring after a week or so. They need to up the graphics, include enemies, raids, better weapons than buzz light years little blaster, and need to dumb down the colors, it's to kiddish. Buts that's MY OPINION on the game.
+Willie Hunter See that's the thing, a lot of people love the artsy style of the graphics and enjoy the arcade vibe its got going I love it. As for enemies they exists. but Its not about combat and raids and better weapons. while you can progress with weaponry on your ship and person its not the main focus of the game. so really if that's what your looking for in the game , then you would probably never enjoy it. I will be one of the people who could spend hours upon hours exploring. But that's MY OPINION on the game.
+PeppaJackable agreed sean said this game is focused on exploring there will be no raids nothing but your multi tool as they call it personally i think the graphics look amazing sean did say once that its not about getting to the center of the universe but the journey you made to get there
+StormLocks Bunnie dude calm down. I just stated my opinion of what I think of the game. I'm sorry if I offended you by saying something that pesky concern you
I gotta feeling this game is going to be empty, boring and repetitive. At first I was like wow like a zillion planets to discover and flying around but I have the feeling this game will be kinda soulless, I'm sure I'll pick it to sometime and have a proper opinion of it then. But for now, eh.
Max Silka Exploring the unknown isn't boring but the repetition can be, like how different can each planet be? What's on each planet to keep me entertained interesting ruins? or Civilization?
+avery moreno Well, all the vids shown so far have been running on a PC, hopefully it won't be the other way round as I shall be purchasing it on the PS4.
+avery moreno The problems they've been having developing it have been to do with how weak the PS4 is. They've not been experiencing problems with PC at all; It's a PS4 port, not a PC port
I like how the game is coming. I'm okay with the multiplayer. My main reason for wanting this game is to explore. And if I find another guy cool but I'm playing for the exploration. So Sean Murry if you watch this keep up the good work man and don't let the hype bother you. We're here with you and we can't wait to see your masterpiece in action.

they should do an open alpha debugging session...
This is the most relaxed ive seen Sean Murray in any interview.
This was basically my reaction upon watching the end of that trailer...
"No Man's Sky"
*Yes?*
"Coming"
*Oh my God, YES! WHEN! TELL ME TELL ME!*
"June 2016
*FUCK!*
+CrimsonGamer99 same :(
+CrimsonGamer99 me too man
My birthday is in June. Guess I know how I'm gonna get it xD
+Aleks Mcripped me 2 XD
+CrimsonGamer99 I've been watching this game for the past three years... I can wait a few more months for polish...
Ive already made my mind up to not think too much on this game until right before release. This is the game I have been waiting for and Sean seems to have a genuine ambition for the game. +eddy67 Heh. Thank you. ^_^
+Kaioken20 Not me. I'm gonna be hyped till it's out. Then again, I'm more interested in the tech than the game itself, so I'm not the average gamer.
While others moan about the game looking boring, I'll be off observing or taking on thousands of different species from small to massive in living breathing eco systems. Then I'll fly out into deep space 9 and escort alien cargo ships while fighting off space pirates for them. Sean has explained all these things already. +wolfflow We've already had a game with those things, and it achieved similar level of hype. It's called Spore.
+Sam Moore ew no spore was shit. it was way to child like
+Sam Moore Lol spore is nothing like this game except for the fact that it had tiny procedurally generated planets
+wolfflow Spore has almost nothing to do with No Man's Sky. For me it's the same, i was waiting for this game all the time and next year we get it :D
This is nothing like Spore
+avery moreno They said on pc it was always running fine but they really had problems getting it running on ps4...
cant wait for this game ...
I think it's the distinctive art style that will make the planets feel very samey in no time at all
An interview from 5 months ago? Hmm.

i hope there is a pre purchase option on steam already
They revealed this game way too early.
+Will Parkinson I have to agree
+Will Parkinson It was an early reveal or no reveal at all, I mean, they were offered a rare opportunity which they grabbed by the horns. If they never had that appearance on VGX '13, then it'd be nowhere as big as it was now.

+TheTukTuk2008 The game has been play tested internally.
+Will Parkinson No they didn't! >:O

Perhaps if they didn't announce the game and get the huge response, they wouldn't have had motivation to continue making the game anymore after the flood they had at their studio.
It was an Indie Sandbox game, that got so much press and hype they had to add game play to it, and that's the cause of the delay
Is this not out yet?Sheesh how many years is it been since they started working in this?
+Vangjo Pula i'd rather wait for a good game than have a broken mess posted through my letterbox
How many GBs will the game take to play? I keep looking it up but cant find it.
Oli sounds a lot like David Baddiel.
Add a simple mechanic in the game so you can find and warp to your friend, easy.
hopefully the game isn't repetitive and there's more to do than just exploring and upgrading your gear
The fan blowing on the mic is so annoying.
+sterkrazzy Sorry about that - long story, but pretty much our only option was to film on the roof. It was fine when we tested the mics but, as soon as the cameras started rolling, the wind picked up. As did the construction site.

+sterkrazzy fan? Kill the annoying music.
+sterkrazzy wind

+TheOmegajimes I'm fine with my skin the way it is, thanks.
Fair enough.
Those things happen but I think you can consciously avoid it if you want
I hate watching interviews with Sean because they have to end at some point.
I agree that he was guarded and low-key. I just hope he and the team will be content with it when it's time to launch the game. People just have to control the hype. it wont be the best game ever... BUT I think it will be a good game.

Going RP like crazy
thanks for showing me the same thing
currently Sean Murray is more famous than 30% of celebrity's

how is the game free and open if there is no multiplayer?
What do you mean?
you cant meet up with folks that does suck I still like the game though just wish they wouldnt restrict that....
+R Davian It's multiplayer in the way that living on earth is multiplayer. Except the scale of the game is if you lived in Australia and the only other person on earth lived in Norway. the main point is to explore more less of combat, and you have to look at it that way.
so is it multyplayer?
You guys still missed the main thing: This is NOT a multiplayer game.

Eric Cartman same here, I'm still hoping hello games adds a coordinates system to No Man's Sky.
***** I think that is essential
exactly people treat gaming like a job where you want to win meaningless medals and challenges instead of just enjoying the game for what you got from the start and learning to live and have fun with the game and not the achievement
the blond woman I find great! Does anyone have the phone number ?
Is No Man's Sky a PS4 exclusive?
PS4 and PC
You can all but bet if this game does well, other game developers are going to go the similar route. They will make massive universes with all the combat etc you can thing of. Where people can team up with friends, have missions where you have to raid bases. Join other groups to pull of a raid of a planet base where you have to work together to pull it off. Then you picture a starwars kind of feel with empires etc. Ohh man......
its agust now...
it's 2024 now and the game is awesome. They delivered on way more than was promised.
Im sure its gonna be good
make oceans in no mans sky big ocens with big fish and sea monsters and the ship is also a submarine with shit to do underwater
+Kaffi O 90% of planets will be barren and 10% of planets will have life
why does the interviewer looks like mr burns from the simpsons lol
A young Mr Berns
I wanna buy a Xbox because my friends are on it and halo 5 but this looks so cool
Be a cool kid get a ps4
The shoes are off.
i can't understand why can't this game have a multiplayer. Why aren't they giving what the people really want?
I doubt we'll even be able to find anyone to play with on multiplayer. Over a quadrillion planets out of probably the millions of people who will buy it. Finding another player would be extremely rare and you're just gonna be by yourself most of the time anyways
I heard it does have multiplayer, but its so ridiculously large that it will be extremely rare to ever find anyone.
+PeppaJackable it has 18 Quintilian planets like the sun will die out before you see them all the chances of seeing another player are rare but as you get closer to the center who knows:)

+kheartsify Elite, perhaps Star Citizen? Eve's pretty popular too. This game isn't really focused on any sort of multiplayer.

Can we still call this game indie since Sony put their stinky fingers on it?
They've only helped advertising. The game is self-funded and independently developed and published by Hello Games.
Oh I see. Thank you.

Well, all the vids shown so far have been running on a PC, hopefully it won't be the other way round as I shall be purchasing it on the PS4.
+avery moreno I heard rumours it's more like they're having difficulties porting it on PS4..
+avery moreno The problems they've been having developing it have been to do with how weak the PS4 is. They've not been experiencing problems with PC at all; It's a PS4 port, not a PC port
