Oh...OK - but honestly, in 2 words: SCOTT WALKER, and 2 other words: Peter Hammil. The ONLY Thing original about Bowie was his "Drag Show"! - still loved Bowie, though.
@@MarkDarnell-cq2wy I've been listening to the audio of Bowie's Live in Nassau Coliseum in '76 - it truly is staggering radiance in so many aspects, from a 29 year old. And that is without anything from the even more adored Low and beyond. Few could equal the wattage of that. Then there's his 50th party (in Boston? I think, on YT) where he does Queen B with Lou Reed (it's a good 'un) and I'm sure Lou cannot believe the way this guy goes, the camera catches a little look he gives Bowie as he's bobbing up and down, as if wtf! (yea yeah we know, that stuff from Bolivia, and yet . . ) But love Hammil's music, the unique turn of chord or melody - pity it's not better recorded - but goosebump stuff in parts. The Black Room.
Give credit to David's personal assistant and close friend Coco Schwab for getting him out of from LA and coke. David wrote the song 'Never let me down' for Coco, she helped save his life and Iggy's too.
That was great, thanks. Also my favourite album of DB's. I was there recently...Hansa studio, and all over the city. Super atmospheric while listening to Low and Heroes (second sides mainly) on headphones...particularly at night. Sort of like, transcendental.
Having seen the Man Who Fell to Earth movie, I was intrigued when I saw the cover to Low. Turned out to be one of my favorite albums along with Scary Monsters.
Yes, in Studio Hérouville AND Hansa in Berlin, to be accurate - But that`s barely the point here - The writing and all inspirational input was collected in Berlin.
@@vikramlikesmusic Thanks a lot! I searched for 2 hours but I couldn´t find it. The most similar sounding that I found was a band called "Free System Projekt".
Music far too loud man while the “poetic historical narration” just far too much for 8 mins of the 24. Then you describe the album (in your opinion) rather than providing a “documentary” of the making of the album. Sorry, but with theloud music and all of this descriptive stuff from your point of view, it just became a bore.

In one word, " Bowie" . We were fortunate to have lived when he was around.

Only a quarter into your documentary. It is excellent and oh so evocative. Thank you for the rich context.
Low is work of art unlike any other. Influential and impactful album.

Great critique of this stand-out album. Cheers!

As time goes on and nothing good happens on the music scene, these albums will stand out even more.
Having seen the Man Who Fell to Earth movie, I was intrigued when I saw the cover to Low. Turned out to be one of my favorite albums along with Scary Monsters.
One of his best from that era. 😊
This is quite well researched and written
Amazing analysis on Bowie's best album and all that surrounds it.
Excellent video focusing on my favorite album of Bowie's career. Any chance of a Part II to this addressing Heroes?
Possibly. Both are great albums but Low has always been more interesting to me.
@@vikramlikesmusic You're such a twerp.
Great video, thank you for sharing😀
My favorite bowie album !!!!
I appreciate the critical depth you pursue your analysis with. Without relying on superlatives I believe this illuminates growth and daring.
Very good presentation, liked and subscribed.
Excellent! Thanks for making this. I hope you might consider doing ANOTHER GREEN WORLD, too.
thanks mate, a well considered 30 minutes, much appreciated
‘Creative pilgrimage’ … superb!
"Musical alchemists". That's good.
Yes that was a strange time in a galaxy far far away. They don't really make people like that anymore.
incredible video. thanks a mill.
Wonderful video, thank you for the thoughtful and precise analysis.
One small detail: "Neu" are pronounced "Noi".
Just a small nitpick: Neu! is not pronounced like "new" or "nyew" but more like "noy".
Should have used a narrator from Northern Ireland, they would have nailed that unintentionally.

Fantastic video. Well researched.
Low was recorded in France

Cool ill watch this! Got just recommended by youtube to me!
Dude, you need to back off the level or remove the background music so that you can hear the narration! 😮
Heard all the dialogue just fine, music was a beautiful marriage. Don't change anything. Dude.
I heard it perfectly. You might need hearing aids friend.
Agreed, background music was a little high and if it was less ambient, it would have made it difficult to listen.
I think the music is great and gives an atmosphere. He speaks very clearly
Thank you for a wonderful film. ❤️❤️very inspiring
Why is the background music so LOUD! 😱
Background music to loud. I could not listen to it in its entirety. Did it ever even mention Herouville ? If not that is a major miss.
Great video, thank you! What song is running in the background?
That's by SoundFlakes, he does some good repetitive ambient tracks. It is called "Horizon of the Unknown".

You'd of been better off playing Warszawa on a loop at a LOW volume. Otherwise an interesting take.
Background music came back, i gave up.

Could you use just a couple more cliches in the narration? Maybe say 'iconic' a few more times?
Yes everything vibrates.
That doesn't mean people can move stones with their thoughts.
Just give us one scrap of proof tha this is possible.
thank you
come again
😂
Thank goodness that repeyative sound stopped for a minute
John Lennon would have hated this video.
Along with Margaret Thatcher. lol

Why is Low part of the Berlin “trilogy” when it was recorded in France??? Narrative is extremely curt and rushed, making it hard to stick to.
It was written there.
once the annoyingly loud music came in, i stopped listening.
