    Barbara Lynn is an American R&B and electric blues guitarist.
    She is also singer and wrote most of her own songs and played the lead instrument in all her songs.
    This is Ray Charles song, "What I Say" played on her left handed Fender Telecaster. Such a talented lady, best known for her hit, "You'll Lose A Good Thing". Great reaction Handsome Harri ❤❤

    So glad that you liked it Harri. ✌It also said that people liked her so much they started throwing money at her. I promise, it won't be the last song you hear of hers. She is also still alive, and it says it was the Ray Charles song, but I guess she made it her own.

    It's definitely the Ray Charles song. Note that Barbara is playing an early Fender guitar called an Esquire, which was effectively a Telecaster without the neck pickup. She also left on the "ashtray" over the bridge pickup, and plucked with a thumb pick. Good singer, too!

    This is from 1966; the program was "The !!! Beat," filmed in Dallas TX, with the host and much of the production team coming from Nashville. The show featured many obscure soul artists of the '60s, though some better known artists like Otis Redding and Etta James also appeared on the show. We should be thankful the 25 episodes of "The !!! Beat" were preserved for present-day viewing. Few tapes of programs like this were salvaged back then.

    Oh yeah!!! Cynthia, this was a fabulous treat, especially for me, since I don't recall having heard from her until now. I will definitely be checking her out further, Bravo to both you and Harri for a job well done.👏👏

    She probably wasn't a smoker, because that Esquire guitar still has the "ashtray". :-)
    One of a kind. I have never seen another player specialise in using the upstrokes so much.

    I used to confuse the songs by Barbara Lynn and Barbara George. Ms. George had the song "I Know." At least I think . LOL I was only 10 back then.😅

    Another great request Cynthia! I remember Barbara Lynn's song You'll Lose a Good Thing when I was in high school and a few other songs by her. But I had no idea she played the guitar! Mind blown🤯 And Harri, I can't believe you tried to throw Cynthia under the bus about the songs title 😂 Enjoyed the reaction and comments!😊

      Thank you so much Milton. I have her other songs also but the guitar had to be first. I'm glad someone noticed me under that bus. 😂

      @@Cynthia... You're welcome Cynthia. Certainly glad you chose it to be first. Back then, we had no idea what the artists looked like or even if they were playing an instrument unless we saw them on TV. And I couldn't let you stay under the bus Harri put you under😂 I continue to be impressed with your musical knowledge.

    I was surprised when I first heard Zucchero use that phrase in 'Baila Morena' - I just checked Wikipedia, and apparently Ray Charles is one of the many people he collaborated with ( two of whom I saw on one of his videos . .. }

    Barbara Lynn rocks! "You'll Lose A Good Thing" was a top ten hit for her in the US in 1962. John Waters used the song in his 1988 film, Hairspray, and introduced her to a new generation. Barbara Lynn is in her eighties and still active. When you're ready for more from Barbara Lynn also check out some of these classics -- "I'm A Good Woman", "I'll Suffer", "Money", "Let Her Knock Herself Out", "You Don't Have To Go", and "Sugar Coated Love". She could sing the blues as good as anybody and better than most. 😄
