When it comes to female singers, Karen Carpenter is and was the best. Always will be.

Karen's voice soothed us all back then and she still continues to sooth our hearts today. I just feel so badly that she was in such emotional and physical pain.... yet she still soothed. Thanks for you reaction, Jayy. This is a nice, soft start to my day. Take care and be well. Peace.

She was incredible and so sad at her death of anorexia nervosa. When she sings TOP OF THE WORLD. I learned the words immediately. Years of wholesome lovely music.

A voice like butter. Known as One take Karen. Also a accomplished drummer that sang! When Shen passed I was heartbroken. So beautiful and talented.

Karen was wonderful, live or recorded. She had a great sense of humor, but died much too young in 1983 at age 32 after struggling with the eating disorder, anorexia nervosa. He brother, Richard was addicted to the sleeping pills, quaaludes,, but was able to get help and quit his addiction. A great voice with a sad, internal struggle. Her biggest joy was playing drums and she considered herself a drummer who sang.

Great reaction and beautiful song! Grew up listening to Carpenters music. Brother Richard wrote most their songs and was the most incredible musician and a great background vocalist. Karen had the voice of an angel and played a mean drum!!! Karen another artist gone to soon due to the ravages of anorexia. Her death brought this disease to the forefront. Rip. Try We've only just begun (can't tell you how many weddings that has been played at), top of the world, rainy days and Mondays, Superstar

Hey Jayy! Please don't be afraid to go with your emotions when a song takes you there. Music takes us to our most vunerable places, that's why we all love it so much. It puts us in touch with that place where we're allowed to feel, and if need be, let out a good cry. I always seem to feel better after a good cry anyway. We've all suffered loss in our lives. After my Dad passed, I cried every day for almost 2 years. Year 3 just passed this month, and it's the first year I've made it through June without being depressed starting the month before. Believe me, I start counting the days a month ahead of time, but I made it this year. This is just me, but letting these songs take you there makes you more relatable to your fan base. Keep up the good work.

That’s her brother Richard playing piano and singing background harmonies with her. He also wrote some of their music and did beautiful arrangements on their songs. The Carpenters is plural as they are a sibling duo. ❤

Growing up in the 70s, we all had our favorite genre...rock, r & b, disco...from the great groups like Eagles, Chicago, Led Zep, Earth Wind & Fire...but, when we heard a song by the Carpenters we'd all shut up and just listen. Your emotions...I've been experiencing for over 45 years EVERY time I hear Karen sing.

You also really should review the studio version of Yesterday Once More. Even though the Carpenters were good in concert, live versions from that era (the early 70's) could not capture the supreme perfection of the studio version. Try it to hear the difference.

Love recordings often don’t show the voice at their best due to acoustics, mic placement, etc. This can’t be compared to the studio recording. This live recording has a distant sound, and the echoing from the auditorium is very apparently. Karen Carpenter’s is very controlled, soulful, but here you don’t get the full measure. But glad it’s appreciated here.
