Thanks for this information-packed video in most ways very useful and informative to me.I appreciate your highlighting this breed, but am puzzled as to what you mean by calling Entlebucher mountain dogs “stubborn”? To me “stubborn” signifies that the trainer has failed in providing sufficient training for the situation in which the dog finds itself; or has used excessive repetition beyond the dog’s tolerance; or has failed to discover the sufficiently motivating reward for the dog to perform a particular behavior. Or perhaps the owner/trainer has failed to recognize the dog has another very good reason for not performing to expectations, for example: intelligent disobedience, i.e. the dog won’t do something it perceives as dangerous; or a medical reason, i.e. some kind of pain or mental fog over which the dog has no control. “Stubborn” is a term that sounds to me like a handy excuse for our failings as trainers. Vague labels like “stubborn” simply shift the blame for our failings to the dog, without offering any insight as to cause and effect or the need for more practice, coaching or education to become a better trainer.
