Yes!!! We've been seeing Turkey through your eyes for the past 18 months, and it's so amazing to finally be here! We recognise so many places and things that we've picked up from watching your videos. Get the wine and beers ready, we'll be seeing you very soon! 😉🥂😘 xxx
@@OverlandingSophia as a local who have seen most of the world I should say that our beers are not that good but you could find some wine for your taste. I suggest "Kalecik Karası". Btw tread the globe is already half Turkish :)
The "ruins" were awe inspiringly amazing. I got tears in my eyes over them and wished the video was a feature-length production. The detail you (plural) you showed such detail and knew some history to bring it again to life. It makes me cry to see and think of how much beauty of history is out there and I didn't spend my life chasing after it as I crave to have done. I tired instead to stupidly attempt to settle into my place in the world machine and did a really bad job of it as well. Thank you dearly for your sharing. It is the history that brings the depth of meaning to what there is to be seen. Most dearly, I say "Thank you". For this video alone I must become a Patron.
I visit Turkey twice a year and have not been able to go this year. One of my favourite things is the amazing Turkish breakfast. We have one between two and have never finished one.Have a great time in Turkey,it is very beautiful.
I've just looked up my photos from 2007 with a very elderly mum and dad. Wonderful memories. I did a course in Roman architecture with Yale Uni about fifteen years ago so seeing the Roman fountain was the biggest thrill imaginable. Thanks for that. Turkey is more beautiful than many Brits realise, especially inland.
As a regular visitor to Turkey I can assure you that many, many Brits realise how beautiful the country is.I have been over a fair bit of Turkey travelling inland and around the coast.Brits are one of the largest numbers of visitors to the lovely country.
Turkey has so much beauty beyond the turquoise coast and beaches. The history here is beyond almost anything else in Europe. The fountain... it needs to be seen to be believed! Truly spectacular. I hope you get to see it in person one day 💛
We are so excited to see this video! Turkey is somewhere we would love to visit. River cracks us up always falling asleep with her head held up. Glad your crossing over went smoothly although slow! You made it! Yay. Xx
Loved the vlog. The ruins were absolutely stunning! I’m sure you going to love Turkey as much as Greece 😊. Glad you’re both well and enjoying the sunshine. Looking forward to the rest of the trip. 😃❤️
Great film. I think your stay in Turkey is going to be very good for the country's tourist industry. Can you imagine what that Roman city would look like if English Heritage got it's hands on it? Big fence, souvenir shop and thirty quid each to get in (no dogs allowed). Van's looking good, the lift was a great idea.
Yes we did! Finally! So glad to finally be here and sink into it all. And the breakfast was something else! 😳😋 Any country that has that for a breakfast gets our vote 😃 Sending love from all of us! Kisses from River 🐶💕
Nicely done! Marmaris coast is too easy to overlook - Tekirdağ, Şarköy, Çanakkale on the Euro side, the headland and islands off Bandirma on the Asian side. When you hit Istanbul, there's the Cilingoz Nature Park further west up the Black Sea coast. Depending on how near you are going to Syrian or Armenian/Georgian/Iranian borders, the town of Batman 🦇 surely offers a photo-op - there's also the town of Van even nearer to Iran (on the east side of Lake Van), but if you want to avoid the whole Kurdish thing and Syrian border then strike a line from Adana to Trabzon and stay roughly west of that - I guess Foreign Office advice is key there. If you haven't had enough hilly bits, try the area around Lake Tuz to the south of Ankara. Also, from a friend's experience, blondes apparently get above average attention in Turkey...
Thanks so much for this Ian! Some amazing suggestions there. We do plan on heading East towards Iran/Syria with Chris & Marianne before the weather turns. Van is too cold now unfortunately but we're looking forward to exploring the East of Turkey for a while. THEN we hit the popular west coast 😆

New to your channel since you came to Turkey for the opening of the Turtle project and have now subscribed to your channel. So glad to have you joining Marian and Chris in Turkey. I've been following them right through their time in Turkey. Now I'll follow you too ! I've only been to Turkey once.. autumn 2019 just before the covid-19 hit. I love the country. Your River is adorable. Loved the final shot of her delighting in the freedom of the beach with the Turkish flag in her mouth. I know I'll see many exciting days ahead of the trip to the east you plan to make with Marian and Chris. I'm looking forward to all your videos of that.
Welcome! Thank you for the wonderful comment 🥰 I'm so glad you appreciated that shot of River running off into the sunset with the Turkish flag - it was one of my favourites! 🤩 The east of Turkey is proving to be an incredible experience, unlike anything we've seen or done before, so I can't wait to share the trip with you 😊Hope you're having a lovely week! xx
Welcome to Turkey! I see that you have enjoyed Sagalassos, so I am sure you will enjoy the antique cities and other ruins in and around Antalya (where I believe you are now). Don't skip the Antalya Museum - according to some experts it houses more historic artifacts than some countries. Enjoy your stay.
Thank you! Museums can be a problem for us having River, but if we get chance to go we will. There are so many amazing ruins and archeological sites in Turkey we want to visit 😃
Thank you Selim! We 100% agree! Turkey has been incredible so far, and this is just the beginning 🥰

Hello guys! I found your trough Chris and Maryann. I watch a lot of travel channels so it is a bit weird I have seen you before. After seeing this vlog I imidiately subbed. Pleasent, fun and informative with good filming. Absolutely love it. :)
Rewatching aaaall the Turkey vlogs to decide on whether to push it down there after snowboarding in Bulgaria next month... We have 5 months to kill out of Schengen so it's looking likely 🎉
Welcome to Turkey!! Just catching up with your videos as we were in Bodrum, Turkey on the 24th but were only there for 1 week. If we had been closer we would of popped down to Managvat to the official opening of the turtle sanctuary as we donated to the cause but were flying back the next day. I look forward to seeing your adventures in this amazing country. Ben cracked me up describing driving in Turkey as we have driven around it over the last few years. The roundabouts are what get me as you have to stop to let others on so nothing like roundabouts as we know them lol.
Thank you Deana! Ah such a shame we just missed you! Would have been so lovely to see you there at the opening. And you could have seen your name on the list! 😃 We are loving Turkey more and more each day, it's a beautiful place. And yes!! The roundabouts! 😆 They keep you on your toes 😂 xx
Hi guys, I’m a little late ⏰, looks like a nice drive across the border, thats big empty campsite, all the better for you and try not to hurt yourself on that slide Chesca 😂😂😂. The aimless plan sometimes is the best.. wow, such a drive south. The backing music suits so well. The breakfast town is so picturesque!! And OmG the amount of food for breakfast is just overwhelming! Just scoff it all? 😂😂👌.. and a cup of tea ☕️ 👍. The drone footage of the peninsula 😍. The village roads are a little bumpy aren’t they. The fountains ⛲️ were outstanding!!! 😍 I never expected Turkey to hold such treasures! Have a good week guys! 👌👍
Thank you Mark! Haha scoff it all is the only way to tackle that breakfast! Can't wait to see what else Turkey holds. If this is just the first week, can't imagine what the next few months will look like! Hope you're doing well and ploughing through the camper build! xx 💛
Wow, those ruins are amazing and you had them almost to yourselves. I have been to Ephesus during a cruise and I thought that was really something to see but what you saw was really awesome. Ben, I like how you described some of the roads as "entertaining". I so wish I could be there myself but seeing it through your eyes will have to do for now, as always thank you for sharing your travels. On Instagram you mentioned you were wanting hearty lunch ideas so I wrote out a recipe on your Facebook(hopefully you can find avocados). Okay, have fun you 3, safe travels.
Amazing! Apparently these ruins are the next Ephesus. We really didn't expect them to be so awe-inspiring! And to have them without the crowds of more famous places makes it so much more enjoyable. Oo thank you for the recipe, I'll have a look now! Hope you're having a lovely weekend, sending lots of love 💕 xx
There is also the house of the Virgin Mary on the nightingale mountain just above Ephesus, and the tomb of St. John. The Selcuk archaeological museum is also very beautiful.
The Romans are very interesting..In Ephesus, if you are a man, you put your left foot on the picture of the foot found on the stone on the ground. If your foot is small, you can't go in.And inside there is a brothel. And on the coins are the forms of sexual intercourse.According to the value of the money, sex has also been taken care of.And the toilets are next to each other. You're sitting and doing it.
“A crumbling fortress from an unknown age”, just WOW!! 🌟 You two has seriously blown us away and got us dreaming of van life Turkey with this film! 🚐 🇹🇷 Oh and don’t get us started on that epic breakfast… so much choice! 😭 A big big thumbs up from us and a little request for more ‘History with Ben’ please 🤪 Also, do you guys reckon that Jits would make it across the ‘entertaining’ roads? Lastly, I want to say that we truly appreciate how informative your videos are, with details on passport controls etc. As always, your videos are packed with beauty, personality, adventure and practical travel advice! Love you three so so much!! Sending you a big big squeeze 💗 xx Tania
Oh thank you! You're far too kind! 💛 Hmm, Jits and the Turkish roads! I think you'd be fine. Most of the roads here have been perfect and in general the road quality is great. Some of the side roads have been bumpy, potholed and corrugated but you don't have to drive on them for very long, so I think you'd be okay. It depends on how good you feel Jits' bodywork is! 💪🚐 You would love it here - the mix of natural beauty, culture, history... it's special. Sending big hugs to you both from Turkey and kisses from River 💕xx
Ooh loving this I’m hungry for some Turkish food now! Rose jam 💕 Will you be heading to Olu deniz? Fab lagoon near Fetiye/Dalaman happy memories of people paragliding into the beach from the nearby mountain 😁
Well hellooo you guys!!😄 Loved this week's video as usual! What beautiful, beautiful scenery turkey has to offer omg it's stunning 😍. Those ruins are just spectacular! Also, that HUGE breakfast looked incredibleee😍🤤. Definitely worth having whilst you're there, and if I ever get the chance to go that is exactly what I'm having haha! Safe journey onwards my lovelies, lots of love from England!❤️xx

Sending love from Turkey to London, hope our paths cross again 😊 💛 Ps: you are now officially the pide legend!
What a great video. I've been to Dougga in Tunisia and that blew me away, but no comparison to where you were, amazing. I worked in Turkey 20 years ago teaching scuba diving and stayed in Fethiye. I know it's very touristy in the summer but there is a brilliant Turkish Baths there. If you're in the area it's worth a visit, great massages with beautiful oils. Stay safe x
Sue, you know me so well! Turkish baths with massages and essential oils sounds like heaven 🤩 We do plan on heading that way, so I'll say hi to Fethiye for you! 🥰 xx
Sorry a bit late catching up on your fab channel! (we're van living in Spain now and wifi/Data is controlling our UA-cam watching!). Loved this first Turkish video, the ruined Roman town looked fascinating. We'd love to van life in Turkey, just wondered whether the insurance is 3rd party or fully comp.? (apologies if this has already been covered in earlier comments!).
Hi there! Loved the video, thanks! Particularly interesting for us as we’re currently in Bulgaria heading down to Turkey next week, so will definitely be dropping by the ruins 😊. May I ask what insurance exactly you bought at the border please? Are you concerned about not having fully comp? This is something that is bothering me 😕. We’ve spent so much time, effort and money on building our Belinda! Thanks for your help in advance. Oh, and do you have travel/medical insurance for there? Excuse me, I’m a worry wart! My husband thinks I’m worrying unnecessarily. Enjoy your travels! We will be following your updates 👍😊
Hey Denise! I'm sure this comment is coming too late for you now, but we just purchased 3rd party insurance at the border, it wasn't through a specific company or anything like that. I hope you both have an amazing time in Turkey, we are absolutely loving it here 😊 💛 Safe travels guys xx

Hi we are loving watching your videos. ❤ We are setting off in our motorhome on Monday to France to head to Turkey on the same route you took by coincidence. We are bringing our dog and are keen to get an eu pet passport. Please could you tell me which vet you used in Thessaloniki? Thank you for the wonderful videos. Xx
Loving your video's we have been following Marianne and Chris as well as you guys! Quite literally, as we are in Italy making our way to Brindisi to get the ferry to Greece then driving our Hymer to Turkey to do the 3 month Schengen shuffle! Your videos are really helping with the planning so thanks guys xxx
Great video guys and it’s great hear how easy it’s been for you to get into, and travel around, turkey. Did they ask if you had insurance before they made you buy the government third party insurance? Only asking as our UK insurer has offered us fully comp insurance for turkey.
Hi Glen! We don't share the exact location of wild camps for a few reasons, but mainly so that we're not advertising these quiet nature spots to everyone. Many could quickly be overrun even with just a few campers. But most of our park ups are on Park 4 Night, and we share the area that we're in, so with a bit of research you'll probably be able to find the spot 😊 Happy travels to Turkey, you'll love it here 💛
We’ve been following your travels since you left UK this time as we have planned a similar route. Leaving in few weeks after some essential dental work.😬 Sorry to miss you and Tread. Enjoy🙏
I saw that you were watching squid games in another episode. Once you’ve finished with that i really recommend ‘This is us’ on prime video. It’s sooo goood! And it’s something that you can’t wait to watch while eating dinner or chilling out. Just. Trust me please! Watch the first episode for me and see if you like it??!! Your videos are on fire guys! Thank you for the wonderful comment 🥰 I'm so glad you appreciated that shot of River running off into the sunset with the Turkish flag - it was one of my favourites! 🤩 The east of Turkey is proving to be an incredible experience, unlike anything we've seen or done before, so I can't wait to share the trip with you 😊Hope you're having a lovely week! xx
London calls, welcome to Turkey where everything is possible xx
Thanks for a brilliant video. Those ruins are amazing and I will have to get there on3 of these days, cheers
Thank you for watching Tony! Sagalassos was incredible, hope you get to experience it for yourself 😊 💛
Welcome to Turkey. You made a good decision and came to Turkey. A wonderful holiday is waiting for you. Have a good time and have a nice trip.👋🏻
Thank you Selim! We 100% agree! Turkey has been incredible so far, and this is just the beginning 🥰
Hello,
You have super channel with your van!. We are discovered your videos now. We are also in Turkey with our van. Unfortunatelly we didn't discover you earlier because we slept with you on the beach yesterday. if you are somewhere nearby, we invite you for tea or beer 😁
A big coincidence.

Thank you so much Sinan! 🥰
Hello guys! I found your trough Chris and Maryann. I watch a lot of travel channels so it is a bit weird I have seen you before. After seeing this vlog I imidiately subbed. Pleasent, fun and informative with good filming. Absolutely love it. :)
Hey Linnea! Welcome to the channel and thank you for your kind words! 💕 So happy to hear you came from Chris and Marianne, we love those two xx
Looks stunning, looking forward to visiting in our Sprinter. All the best from Derby.
You'll love it, from what we've seen so far, it's amazing for van life. And I'm sure it's only going to get better. Say hi to ol' Derby for me! 😃
I found your channel last year. I did not expect you to come to Turkey. Welcome, I hope you enjoy
Thank you! It wasn't part of our original plan but we're really happy to be here 💛😊
Welcome..
Beautiful video! 😍 and River is the absolute cutest ♥🐶🦴♥ thank you for this great content! it was amazing learning about Sagalassos! I will definitely visit one day 😊✨
Thank you! Sagalassos was truly amazing, I hope you get to experience it for yourself one day! ✨

Ah thank you Bob! You're far too kind 🥰 I think we pretty much rolled out of that restaurant 😂
Rewatching aaaall the Turkey vlogs to decide on whether to push it down there after snowboarding in Bulgaria next month... We have 5 months to kill out of Schengen so it's looking likely 🎉
5 months of spring and summer in Turkey?! Go for ittt!!! BEST time to visit 😍
That is amazing. If the climate is suitable for your trip, don't forget go to the southeast of Turkey after the magnificent beaches👍🏻
We are actually planning on heading to East Turkey very soon!

Thanks for the recommendation Cam 😊💛
Hope you're doing well and ploughing through the camper build! xx 💛
@@OverlandingSophia I’m doing great thanks, camper build going slowly, but getting there bit by bit. Have a good time. 👍
Jits would love it here !!!! Love from us x
Ooh loving this I’m hungry for some Turkish food now! Rose jam 💕 Will you be heading to Olu deniz? Fab lagoon near Fetiye/Dalaman happy memories of people paragliding into the beach from the nearby mountain 😁
Ah yes! Turkish food is just something else 💕 We will be making our way around the Fetiye coast so Olu Deniz could well be on the cards!
Safe journey onwards my lovelies, lots of love from England!❤️xx
hi guys, how are you? i am new to your channel. it was a pleasure to meet you at dekafok in manavgat. welcome to Turkey and have a great time exploring her. Do not forget to vist Aspendos and perge. while you are in manavgat.
love and best wishes from London
Hey Orhan! So lovely to hear from you and yes, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you at Dekafok. Thank you for the recommendations, they're on the list for when we come back along the coast.
🥰 xx
@@OverlandingSophia excellent I shall look forward to the video and what you think of them 😃
Sorry a bit late catching up on your fab channel!
You guys are most welcome to Turkey ❤️
Thank you so much 🥰

“It’s like Disneyland for old people” ……i like 'historical places', so thanks for that nugget. Lol.

Wow, how fabulous 😎
We love Eğirdir and Sagalassos! We live near Kalkan on the SouthWest coast, and I am hoping to make it to event on Saturday. If so, look forward to meeting you there!

Hey , was just wondering the title of the song at 13:15? great video btw, love turkey
i hiked turkey for two months and loved it, apart from an encounter with the police which cost me £18 for a rubber stamp
Happiest of travels to you both! It's a beautiful route, maybe we'll see you in Turkey! 🥰 xx
Looking great guys and gals. B safe.
Thank you! 💛✨
Great video guys and it’s great hear how easy it’s been for you to get into, and travel around, turkey. Did they ask if you had insurance before they made you buy the government third party insurance? Only asking as our UK insurer has offered us fully comp insurance for turkey.
Hello! Yes Turkey has been a dream so far. They did ask if we had insurance, just have your green card ready and you'll be fine 😃
Great video but would love more info on where exactly you park up each night. We are right behind you, crossing into Turkey 1st Nov.
Hi Glen! We don't share the exact location of wild camps for a few reasons, but mainly so that we're not advertising these quiet nature spots to everyone. Many could quickly be overrun even with just a few campers. But most of our park ups are on Park 4 Night, and we share the area that we're in, so with a bit of research you'll probably be able to find the spot 😊 Happy travels to Turkey, you'll love it here 💛
Amazing, well done for making it to turkey. Looking forward to seeing your site. Maybe some turtles 🐢
Thank you Linda! So happy to be here 😊
if possible would love to know the name of the music you used from 07.49 totally works with the images
Now in Albania, we'll be there in a few weeks. Have fun you three. Take care. X
Ah amazing, have a safe trip over! 🌟
We’ve been following your travels since you left UK this time as we have planned a similar route. Leaving in few weeks after some essential dental work.😬
Sorry to miss you and Tread. Enjoy🙏
Ah amazing, you'll love it. We've had such a great time making our way over to Turkey. Safe travels guys! xx
Merhaba! You guys are amazing❤
Give river and treat from me. Love from London ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Chesca Ben River it’s like you are travelling in a different time zone and the ruins, what can you say. WOW the breakfast that’s the biggest and most varied I have ever seen nothing like my big breakfast Sun morn . Thanks for sharing stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
The ruins really did feel like a time warp! That fountain was incredible 🤩Hope you're having a lovely week Barry, must be warming up for you now! 🌞
@@OverlandingSophia hi yeah temperatures this week up to 33 Deg c and some huge spring storms creating a fair bit of damage but we have managed to avoid the major problems have a nice weekend ❤️
