      What both of you have in common with your similar experiences…and on occasion with me…is sellers will use buyers to pull the better stuff for them to keep. This is an unfortunate circumstance that some sellers do unintentionally or intentionally. It’s frustrating to have sellers use buyers to “move things” or “grab things” then the best stuff is pulled then kept. We’ve all been there.

    Awesome awesome vid dude. Thanks for giving this one big sale the attention it deserved and not showing too much or too little. 27 minutes with all that great Bulls stuff and knowledge you shared throughout was perfect. Who do you or your other subs think is the best for getting magazines or Beckett type magazines graded? I hope you do more content on grading. Thanks for sharing, I know this took work and you definitely earned this one. Plus the seller moved a lot of inventory and came out with good $.

      I appreciate the feedback. This one was not easy, lol. I determine who is the better grading company on two factors, Market Value and Turn around times. CGC. Normally I would compare Beckett and CGC but Beckett does not grade magazines for slabs. They only grade them as Raw books. I need to go through these with a fine comb. I will pick out the best ones and send them to a 3rd party presser. Once he is completed pressing them, I will have them submitted directly to CGC.
      I have done a bunch of content on grading in the past. It was mostly unboxing of IGS Graded VHS, WATA Graded Video Games, and CGC Graded comics. If you look through my past videos, there is over a dozen unboxing of graded items. If you have any questions on grading, don't be afraid to reach out.

I always recommend when people start out to send in a small sample size of books (5 or less). This way you can Minimize and potential mistakes. I would write down what grade you think every book would get before you send it in. When you get them back, you will know how close/far off you were. No, not unless you have some history showing those magazines are in demand. Not on census may just mean there is no demand for them. Are they selling raw for big bucks? You could spend a ton of money grading those and lose a ton of money.

    • @pickingandpunching
      @pickingandpunching  Рік тому

      Yes and no. High graded Jordan magazines have a history of doing well. Generally speaking, Jordan collectibles usually do very well. Especially high graded cards with very low census. Some of these magazines do sell good raw, especially the ones new in bag. You are correct though. I could spend a ton of money and lose ton of money. With my experience selling graded items and sports collectibles I think we should do good on them. It would be a calculated risk. We will start out with a small sample size, something like 25 or less. If we can get a handful of 9.8. We will then go from there. I think it would be a more of a long tail item, but overall, I’m pretty confident that we will do very well with these. It’s just going to take time. Def not a quick flip or a quick grading process. • @pickingandpunching
      @pickingandpunching  Рік тому +1

      It was a frustrating process. I felt like he was getting overwhelmed with everyone showing up. Magazines, comic books, sports cards, etc. You can send them off to be professionally graded. They graded the books on a scale of 1-10. 9.8 is considered a top score since they allow the condition of the book to have a tiny flaw in it. 9.9 and 10 are considered unicorns (rare and almost non existent). After they grade them, they put them in a protective tamperproof case. Grading a book and incase the value tremendously.
      Let’s say you have a magazine that is worth $20 raw (non graded). You send it off to get graded and get 9.8. Let’s say there is 500 of them professionally graded. Out of those 500, only 50 of them are graded at a 9.8. Now you have increased the rarity of the book because there is only 50 of them graded at the highest grade. Now that $20 book graded at a 9.8 maybe worth 5-10x the value of the raw book due to the rarity of the item at that graded number.

    • @pickingandpunching
      @pickingandpunching  Рік тому

      @@Lovelytreasure18 grading can be expensive. Comics are usually $20-$25 each and magazines are $30ish a piece. I also get my books pressed which is very similar to taking your cloths to the dry cleaner. They pressed them out to get them flat. It helps remove any wrinkles/curling the boom may have. It also helps remove light surface dirt that might be on the books. That’s an additional $15 per book. It could be very expensive process to do. That’s why I recommend people do their research first before jumping into grading. I also recommend a very small sample size at first, 5 or less when starting out. That way you can Minimize your loss if you mess up.

      @@Lovelytreasure18 yea, I have made that mistake multiple times. Sometimes I’ll just log them up and sell them cheap or just cut my loss if they are bad. When I started selling video games and DVDs heavily, I invested in a disc cleaner. You can get one with all the supplies for $150-$200. I use it on video games and high end DVDs a lot.

    Hey listen I understand the business of reselling, you want to buy really low and sell really high, but please don't get mad at people who are trying to do the same thing, even if it's a garage sale. I think people misunderstand a garage sale as everything for a dollar. But people are also trying to make money from their collections or inventory. So I do sales in my yard and give people a great price but not a price where I lose money, same items I price at collectibles conventions for way more and still get people to buy the items. So if it doesn't sell at the garage sale then it will sell on ebay or a show. But to claim it's frustrating because you can't get a deal of the century price is not a good look.

      I appreciate you watching the video and responding but I think you may of missed what I was referring to as frustrating. You are correct, people can sell items for whatever they want. If you watch any of my other big buy videos, I have no problem paying up for items.
      I agree to buy all the used shirts for a $1. He couldn’t tell me which ones were used or not. Other people came up and grabbed the other shirts. He told me $50 for the box of posters. After I agreed to buy them, he was pulling out posters to keep. He kept telling me to make a big pile that he would make me a deal if I buy In bulk. He wanted to $3 a license plate. When I asked how much for all seven, he took $1 off. Those things I found frustrating. If you watch to the end of the video, I ended up spending $400 at this sale. We were able to work out a deal that worked out best for both of us.

      Pay closer attention! Ron wasn’t frustrated with pricing. Seller was indecisive, all over the place, most likely hard for seller to let go of certain items.

I thought I could save us both time and help clear out the space for him. When he hit me with $700, I knew I was in for a long day, lol. After rewatching it, you can hear it in my voice. Prices were all over the place. Some were great, others not so much. When you do this full time, you have to try to negotiate when you can. Every dollar counts. At the end we were able to come to a big deal for a bunch of stuff.
