Coming from someone with a decade+ of doing cutout character animation professionally using mostly after effects (and before that flash), it’s really awesome you’re putting this type of stuff into your affordable app. I ran thru a quick test and have some early feedback/feature requests: -When I’m playing back my animation and it’s playing… if I use my Apple Pencil on the timeline to grab the playhead, playback should be paused. Basically, I shouldn’t have to hit the pause button. An alternate more intuitive way to work quickly. (more like Ae) -When animating with parenting/hierarchy, I’d like to be able to have all layers unfolded with their keyframes visible. I need to see where the key frames are on my parent and children layers so I can offset them before even looking at the playback. I can only unfold one layer at a time making that a whole lot harder to do. -The easing curve stuff is great, but once I utilize it it’s uneditable and invisible. After I’ve added an easing curve preset to a key frame having it be editable and somehow visible that it’s no longer a plain key frame would be awesome. -Frame numbers above the timeline instead of seconds. The playhead uses frame number. More intuitive if the other numbers were frame numbers too. Or at least ability to switch. -Ability to playback and loop only a short section of the timeline. This app is great, thanks for making it
Hey, kev! Hope you're doing great. I'm not affiliated with ToonSquid (at the moment, lol) but I have seen a solution to the "Ability to playback" fix, though it could be fixed with some UI. When in ToonSquid, tap and hold the Loop Symbol, and you'll have a pop-up showing the loop settings. You'll have to type in the figures for "Start Loop" and "End Loop" manually. I'm hoping the brushes are touched upon and allow perfect importing of Photoshop Brushes. I used ToonSquid for an animation competition, but I only used it as a Transformation tool, and used Procreate as my Rough and Clean Up animation tool. Let me know if you'll like to see what I did with it. It'll be nice to connect with other iPad animators. Thanks
Thank you very much for the feedback! I've noted down your suggestions. "I can only unfold one layer at a time making that a whole lot harder to do." You can open the settings and under "General > Keyframes > Show keyframes for" switch to "All layers". That should be what you are looking for. "The easing curve stuff is great, but once I utilize it it’s uneditable and invisible." I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. You can always select the keyframe (or the area after that keyframe and before the next keyframe), open the easing curve editor and customize the easing curve for each keyframe as often as you like. All keyframes use the "Linear" easing curve by default and you can also select that one again from the list if you want to switch a keyframe back to its default easing. Please feel free to correct me if that isn't what you mean. "Ability to playback and loop only a short section of the timeline." The easiest way to do this is to tap the playhead and then select "Start Loop" and "End Loop" to define the looping region. As mentioned in the other reply you can also do this by long-pressing the loop button.
@@toonsquidart the key frame part I think he means that in after effects once there is easing applied the keyframe symbol changes to indicate that. Currently we can’t know if easing is applied until we go into the curves to check.

Amazing software! I always check the app store for new animation software and somehow I missed this one. It's got great features and I'm sure it has a great future as well
I noticed if you put a Heirarchy into a group and then move the group it seems to add the parent motions including rotations onto the child. Even if this is unintended it does create a quick parallex scrolling effect. Also happens when you scale the group which kinda enhances the effect of a Z depth when you then rotate and move.
Everyday I learn there are more tools available. This is an awesome animation software, well done! My main feature requests for further updates are an ability to control the stroke width over the course of a path, sort of like controlling pressure after the path is drawn, and a boolean system for shapes for simple shape addition and subtraction for some shape building. That would take this app to new heights in my opinion.
This pivots are going to be colossal for what I’m thinking on how to use this impressive piece of software. 2023 seems to be the year that is ushering in *the beginnings* of true professional work on tablets, I see some powerful apps in different disciplines - finally! I am currently using it for simple motion graphics and animation scenes. Overall, I'm really impressed that it works great and is easy to use. The strength of the app is the keyframe editing and scene management. It had the potential to be an amazing app. So I really want to give you my feedback. Minor Bug (I use the app on an iPad Air Gen 3. IPadOS 16.2.) 1. When I import a 4-second short video with no sound at 24 frames per second (I used MP4 files) to the scene and play preview alongside other layers, the app crashes. But it works great when you hide the video layer while previewing. The best thing is that I did not find any problems with the final render with the video files in the project. 2. Import too many image cause the app crash. for example i import 96 image (24 fps) the app will crash, so i reduce image to 24 image and it work find. Suggestion 1. When you set a value such as scale or position, I'd like to include a numeric pad on the screen similar to Vectornator, more specifically a value such as per pixel, centimeter, or inch. 2. A minor issue for me personally is that when you move the "Blue Preview Mark" out of the timeline of a "Drawing Layer," both the "Properties" and "Keyframes" menus are closed, so you need to open the Group folder to select the specific layer for managing keyframes again. 3. It needs some kind of camera composition guide as well as a ruler. I think this will help some animator to create the scene.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write out all of this valuable feedback! Regarding bug 1: Would it be possible for you to send me the project file to contact@toonsquid.com? I'd be happy to take a look at why exactly it crashes if you enable the video in the editor. Bug 2: Are you using the image sequence import and it crashes during the import? So you import 4 x 24 images and then it works? Or can you not import more than 24 images in total before it crashes?
In Callipeg 2.2 a transform layer can affect layers inside a group individually, e.g. make layers rotate around their respective pivot point. In ToonSquid transform affects all elements below it in hierarchy as a whole (?), would be cool if it could be improved on.

This is so awesome! Very intuitive and easy to do. I like to create my characters in Procreate with each body part on its own layer. I can import them as pngs into Toonsquid one by one, or as an image sequence, but they are all on the same layer. Is there a way to import all pngs at once, like image sequence, but all on separate layers? It would save so much time instead of importing one by one and then lining everything up. Thanks :)

One question, I know you’re able to create shapes like circles, squares, etc. But, the shapes are solid and filled in, is there a way to have an outlined shape instead?
I’m also having this problem, I know it’s something about staying inside pixel layer limits but I don’t see why it can’t stay within the bounds of the actual frame rather than the layer
You could make complete tutorials with subtitles in several languages, it's so simple to do this on UA-cam. I bought this app, but I'm still lost, I speak Portuguese.

It did for me. What I’m hoping gets added ASAP is inverse kinematics. Animation Pro has this feature but the app is overly complicated compared to Toonsquid.
So far this app is amazing but I only have one concern So for many years I was using flipaclip, however after a while they made ‘premium’ as subscription based so we have to pay each month ): I was wondering if this will happen to this app aswell or will it remain as a one time purchase?
Amazing. Loving the tool. One question. How do we loop animations? Create cycles? Repeat some 2 frames two times and then someother frame? Would be very helpful
I think its with symbols. But how do we use symbols! The guide details what symbols is and how they work, but i am unable to insert a symbol layer. A video would be very helpful here.
Hi! Yes, symbols are the way to do that at the moment. Here's the handbook page that covers the different ways to create symbols: toonsquid.com/handbook/symbols/create_symbol/
Such a Great App!!! I’ve got a question: what kind of files can be imported to the app? I tried to import svg from affinity designer but it did not work… 😇
Hey! Thanks for these tutorials! Really! I’m having issues with importing png drawings from my library. Whenever i import 1 into the library and use it, the one i imported before gets deleted and the new imported image become the layer. I know i am doing something wrong xD
I cant parent objects I draw myself nor can I edit the anchor point. Do I have to convert my custom drawings into something (a symbol perhaps?) for me to be able to parent and edit the anchor point? I can do it with objects made like a square or circle but NOT with a drawing I made. Can anyone please help?
Can I add painted details to a vector layer? For example, I draw a line in one layer with edit points. I’d like to paint leaves but to be able to move the edit points of the line, so everything animates together. If I merge the layers, they become rasterized.
There is no fixed limit upfront. The practical limit will depend on lots of factors such as the specific contents of each layer, the layer types and how much RAM your iPad has.
Hiii. New toonsquid animator here :) when i try and move the pivot point, the icon disappears and turns into a white circle. I’m trying to rotate a layer. Can someone help?
Hey there is it possible for you to make a tutorial for a full body rig? Also how do you select multiple objects on the timeline did on accident but don't know how I did it Edit found out how to select multiple double tab and quickly slide
Also is it possible to do something to animate turning like substitution or something if we draw the character in a different angle? With this puppet rig style Also I noticed that when the object your trying to pivot is small you can't see the marker.

maybe this time they got mesh and bone tools like Adobe Animate heheh.. i love it!
So far this app is amazing but I only have one concern
So for many years I was using flipaclip, however after a while they made ‘premium’ as subscription based so we have to pay each month ): I was wondering if this will happen to this app aswell or will it remain as a one time purchase?
Ik I’m one year late but it’s a one time purchase
Here's the handbook page that covers the different ways to create symbols:

Are full body rigs possible in this app?
Such a Great App!!! I’ve got a question: what kind of files can be imported to the app? I tried to import svg from affinity designer but it did not work… 😇
Can I make a full on show in this!?
Pls make this for windows
Can u add features like rigging
They already added a rigging features
It’s called markers I think.
is there a way to merge animation layers?
When we'll talk release on Android?
I hope this app gets to have deformers at any point in time, I can foresee a really promising future for it
Make vector files import option
Is there a way to make each layer have different fps cause I animate with 12 fps but when I use key frames I use 24 fps cause it looks smoother
Can I add painted details to a vector layer? For example, I draw a line in one layer with edit points. I’d like to paint leaves but to be able to move the edit points of the line, so everything animates together. If I merge the layers, they become rasterized.
Not at the moment, but this is something I'm considering for a potential future update.
@@toonsquidart That will make limitless possibilities! Anyway I learned more toon squid and having a lot of fun!! Great software!! Thanks!
Just curious is there a limit to how many layers you can have such as blinking eyes layer, hair moving layer, mouth moving layer?
There is no fixed limit upfront. The practical limit will depend on lots of factors such as the specific contents of each layer, the layer types and how much RAM your iPad has.
Hiii. New toonsquid animator here :) when i try and move the pivot point, the icon disappears and turns into a white circle. I’m trying to rotate a layer. Can someone help?
Can you make toonsquid for iphone too?
Hey there is it possible for you to make a tutorial for a full body rig?
Also how do you select multiple objects on the timeline did on accident but don't know how I did it
Edit found out how to select multiple double tab and quickly slide
Also is it possible to do something to animate turning like substitution or something if we draw the character in a different angle? With this puppet rig style
Also I noticed that when the object your trying to pivot is small you can't see the marker.
Are you able to upload PNG sequences?
how do i add an existing image to my animation
Here's the relevant handbook page: toonsquid.com/handbook/layers/pixel_layer/#images
@@toonsquidart THANK YIU
