So emotional and awesome ! Wonderful memories about the gigs I attended at the Gouvy Jazz & Blues Festival (B) 2021 and more recently in France in Thionville. A very beautiful capture. Thanks for having shared this.
I play trombone. Let's hear more of your horn Rita. I know the old story, singing is what most want to hear. I want to hear you through your horn most of all over vocals.
It’s difficult to understand why Rita has chosen not to have the broken brace on her beautiful Kühnl & Hoyer trombone repaired! There has to be a competent repair facility near any venue at which she performs. Even if she won’t repair it, one would think Kühnl & Hoyer would effect the repair to preserve their good name. A failed major solder joint should even be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty! Come on, Rita, please repair your instrument and unleash your full potential on the trombone.
It got fixed. The problem was lockdown and then a flurry of work immediately after. The K&H probably got fixed when she had a recording gig with Joan Monne and David Vinolas when she appeared to be using her big old concert trombone from when she was 14 and 15.
Heh! This level of performance was pretty new to him. But a year or two living with Rita has lifted the quality of his singing (pitch and control) and his guitar work (thanks to Eli?) has become more impressive. Even brother Eudald is giving him experience in Latin jazz.
The trombone solo in the first song is the best solo I've heard in a while. Simple, laconic and brilliant.
Agreed. What a beautifully haunting solo.
Rita gets some great variety of sound here!!! Then sings Louder than Mama Cass! ! Wow!
No wonder Rob Egerton picked it out... haunting...
