Dimash communicates the emotions in a song so very well. His arrangements are wonderful. His stage presence is amazing. His vocals skills, without peer. He seems to be an enchanted otherworldly being.

6:53 - Dimash can’t even be compared to anyone in any competition. Dimash in a competition is laughable; Dimash is just too amazing.

  • @BillTarling

(his range [currently] is F2 to D8)
This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and doesn't speak any Chinese] , and least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode]. This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing.
Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.

You have a nice voice. There are lots of comments from youtube reactions and people are counting how many high notes Dimash can hit. In fact, lots of singers can hit a super high note, especially the female singers. Dimash is far more than just hitting high notes. I just know no one sings like him, he is turning the musical world upside down. This is just my comment

    • @Reddesknotes
      @Reddesknotes 5 років тому

absolutely..plus Dimash CAN shit the HIGHEST NOTES in the world..but also his showmanship tender parts...so many styles mix together thats commercial gold we all LOVE it!..oh there will be a minority that feels too jealous to like him, like the bimbo judge on The Worlds Best Cecelia Lanssen from Denmark..ridiculous what she said.."she wasnt moved" of course not..her sing is true jealousy..the other was a has been NOBODY producer from the UK named ERINGA,,(what kind of sh*** name is that? sorry...fake obviously) .. who said "just cuz u CAN doesn mean u SHOULD" (vote for the best) retarded and the host James Corden SHAMED HIM (and her) which was great the audience booed them both..ugh!...they will be condemned forever for that..

I'm normally not a big fan of a billowy chest vibrato but with this song it really does enhance the emotion. Well done Dimash...you my friend are a vocal savage!

Hi again Yazik! This is a song with a very dramatic backstory, especially to the French folks. The theme of the song is basically a man calling out to the heavens, because he is dying and has never felt like he belonged in his skin....anyway, SOS was performed by a young man on a reality tv show in France, who basically realized as he was performing this song the lyrics were actually describing him. He was in fact dying, which was revealed at mid season. Gregory LeMarchal was 21ish when he won the Star Academy show. He went on to have a very successful concert run, but tragically died just a couple years after the tv show ended. He had battled cystic fibrosis all his life but lost the battle while waiting in the hospital for a lung transplant just shy of his 24th birthday. So what is the Dimash connection? Gregory lost his battle ten years ago. Dimash saw a video of Gregory singing SOS and learned the song by watching his performance from that French tv singing competition. This song carries a lot of other emotional baggage with it for the French people from even further back, but it explains the passion Dimash has while performing this song, as he cries out as he saw Gregory do in his performance. There are some strong parallels between Dimash and Gregory in terms of passion for singing and fan support, etc.

Gregory was not the original singer though. It's from a Canadian musical called Starmania from 1978 and it was sung by Daniel Balavoine.

Thank you. Please react to Dimash's "DaybreaK" or "Diva Dance" from the concert in Bastau. They are an improvement over the "I am a singer" versions; even his showmanship was vastly matured (within a couple or three month time frame)...indeed can not imagine five years from now. This kid is a powerhouse.

MAYBE THEN COMMUNICATIONS COULD DEVELOPE WHERE AS WE WOULD UNDERSTAND MUCH MORE EASIER THAT WE ALL LOVE AND DESIRE THE SAME THINGS. FOR WHAT REASON DO COUNTRIES HATE ONE ANOTHER? THROUGH MUSIC LIKE THIS WONDERFUL SINGER TAMISH, HE COULD OPEN OUR HEARTS TO ACCEPT ONE ANOTHER. HE IS TERRIFIC. I LOVE HIM AS MY SON. SHOCKING, ISN'T IT?

    You are right Yazik,
I hear from the age of two he was performing. because he was born into music: His mother and father, both are singers. His music teacher wanted to go into opera, but Dinesh had desire to go to to pop music. He has many -many talents and he is hardworking person.
But I do believe, it was a reason he was born into the world.
    But God loves us all!

You said you referred pop. But, Dimash was not singing for you. He had never been to China. The contesta;ts were all professional singers that had to be invited. In Russian he had no standing ovations. This audience was like no other. When he walked up he was the first singer on the first show. The viewers on China tv were one billion people. The audience were both music savy and language savy. The Chinese study Frenchand many other languages. Dimash knew this. He at this time sang in twelve languages. He knew the one to pick and the song . When the first words came out of his mouth the audience gave a round of applause. This song wasn’t pop for you . It was pop opera for them. He sang many genres throughout the show. After this show Dimash had to have bodyguards... after one show.

I love it when Dimash sings low, softly and tenderly. I'm in awe when he sings really high, his voice becomes sounds and androgynous. The lyrics (in this song) are better interpreted in the low register, the words tend to get muddled in the high register. I'd prefer a clear phonetic of the lyrics. All said, I think Dimash is incredibly gifted and I look forward to appreciate more of his heavenly talent. I also enjoy your videos, Yazik. Thanks.

You'll be pleased to know (unless you've already discovered the Chinese video on this) of how displeased Dimash was to have to change his usual oeuvre around to accommodate the added need to add complexity to his every performance. The show's producers stressed to him, and stressed hard, how every performance needed to dazzle on its own, because a single poor round of voting from the audience could send him home! You should have seen the scowls! He really is true to how his heart says the music should be sung, but you can also see his competitive spirit. When he came in, no one in China knew him, and he was determined not to leave China without making throwing a few musical elbows about to get some attention. His SOS performance, in fact, was all it really took. That performance won first place for that particular performance, and stunned his Chinese/Taiwanese/Hong Kong competitors who all came into the competition with huge, well established fan bases. So your excusing him for singing to win competitive points was itself on point. Kudos.

When you know what the song's about, it becomes clear why Dimash sings it that way.
S.O.S. of a Man in Distress
    "Starmania" (french rock opera).
Music - Michel Berger, text - Luc Plamondon
Why do I live, why do I die?
Why do I live, why do I cry?
Here is the SOS of a man in distress
I've never had both feet upon the ground
    I'd rather be a bird
I don't fit into this skin
I'd like to see the world turned upside down
    If ever it were beautiful
It's lovelier from above, from above
    I've always confused life
    with the comic strips
    Even wished I could transform
    I feel something
    That draws me
    That draws me
    That draws me up
Into the great lotto of the universe
I don't have the right numbers
I don't fit into this skin
    I don't want to be a robot
    Eating, working, sleeping
Why do I live, why do I die
Why do I live, why do I cry
    I think I'm catching waves
    From another world
I've never had both feet upon the ground
    I'd rather be a bird
I'd like to see the world turned upside down
    I'd rather be a bird
    Sleep, child, sleep...

Not at all messy. You gave a lot of good info. Here's some back at you. This competiton occurs every two years in China - The Singer - and you just responded to the very first performance of the competition. Seems as if Dimash has just barely come into his own, at 23, and was kind of a secret weapon coming into things. The competitors behind stage seem to gently tease him for embracing 'their' without most of them ever having heard of him. Then he did that. Watch the episodes in order to see the competitors go from shock and awe, to "how am I going to compete with this?", to fully embracing him as a friend and artist. Gave me the warm fuzzies about the whole country! Other artists I loved, after watching every singer/every performance: Terry Lin, Lion Band, Teresa Carpio, Jason Zhang, Sandy Lam. Enjoy.
