The downfall of forza started when devs started focusing on the ignorant major casual playerbase, whom don't minr paying for mid content and completely abandoned the car enthusiasts who made forza famous and loved in the first place. That's the problem with big companies nowadays, once they see the greens are starting to increase on their accounts, greed kicks in and all honesty and love for the content they produce is gone, the most famous case being EA, and now Microsoft is going the same way. The problem about mainstream triple A games nowadays is that they ain't made with love anymore, they're made and designed strategically to suck every penny out of the playerbase who have no other choice but to pay if they want to play with something new

I bought the premium edition on sale and it pissed me off that the car is listed with its price as in game credits but when I clicked on it it took me to the store where I had to pay REAL MONEY. That's why we hate the DLC

I encourage you to educate yourself more about the game before saying that the devs do not care. A lot of new content they added into the game are well-received, added for the benefit of the community, and most importantly, FOR FREE. Do you think those updates will be free if they only care about money?

I remember the hype of this game, and FH4. Still remember playing Forza Street in 2020 and FH1 on my consoles. Kinda sad that now everyone making good things is behind money.
I really liked TDU & TDU2 (not the handling physics so much on that one) and distinctly remember thinking if TDU2 had more DLC I'd probably buy it, Servers went down and the company went bust. Meanwhile GTAO went dumb with DLC and is still going strong after 10 years. They have to make money! It's unfortunately not as simple as devs being under a huge umbrella and thinking the parent company can afford it.
I would like to clarify something about the DLCs, content updates and other things about the game, especially the comments about those on Steam.
First comment: Car Pass and Car Packs are separate things. Think Car Pass as like a separate car pack on its own, and not a collection of all the car packs. Car passes have different cars than all other car packs as well.
Also people did complain about car packs not being in the 'Ultimate Edition' or Premium Edition. I would like to clarify that there is no 'Ultimate Edition' of FH5, only premium edition. Reason why people complain about DLC not being included is because in previous Forza titles used to include all DLC packs in the Ultimate edition of those previos Forza titles , whereas this time all DLCs have to be bought separately. This explains why DLCs usually have bad reviews, but I don't think they are of bad quality since all the cars in the DLC are new to the series, not just copy pasted from older games(licensing for these cars also cost money for them).
I will admit that DLCs releasing monthly like this is a bit of an issue for them, but at the end of the day, people like me still buy them for the new cars. Not to mention the fact that they release DLCs alongside new quality updates that are free to everyone in the game(if they try to do this during the first year when the game has lackluster updates this would be even worse). I would also like to mention that older Forza Horizon games also have a lot of car packs for them too, just doesn't need to be bought separately if you own the ultimate edition for them. It really depends on whether you like these or not
As for the game itself, I won't really comment as it comes down to personal opinion. I would agree to things like convoy systems and online, but I disagree with things like updates having low quality
For updates, if you are talking about the first year of the game, then yes, the updates are bad, but since series 19, the updates have been of very high quality. Lots of cars that are not present in previous games, new content updates, quality of life changes, etc. Now the game is in series 33, and in between these 14 motnhs of update, all of them are well received, with the latest one being highly anticipated and as well. For the anti-lag and graphics, this is more of a personal thing. Anti-lag may not be as exciting as AC, and some people do like the graphics of older FH games. I personally like them as they are.
In conclusion, I want to clarify some of the things you mentioned in the video, correct some mistakes and misconceptions, as well as give my personal opinions above there. My apologies for the long comment. As a Forza Horizon player since the day the game came out, I have seen the changes made to the game throughout, and I have seen other people talk about this game's past without knowing the full game too well. Fair arguments, also something to mention is they are sponsored by some car brands, meaning some car brands pay money to Forza instead, not always the other way around.
@Goosiest Yes that is true and I am aware of that. A lot of car brands, like Chinese car brands and Hyundai, paid for their cars to show up in the game. Still, that is not the case for all vehicles
I agree with what you said. And for me at least, I don't think all of this is for greed. If it was for greed, then the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, the '24 Mustang and the Nissan Tsuru would also be in a Car Pack. The devs need money to continue their service considering the game has been going on now for nearly 3 years and with no Expansions in sight, the optimal way for them to continue running and to give us a good sequel, is to release cheap DLCs alongside the normal game updates, which is also doing well. Like you said, having a new DLC every month is a bit of an issue for them, but at least it does not jeopardise the content people get for free.
I am also on the same boat as you when it comes to the game itself. In my opinion, the quality of updates has only gotten better with new EventLab props, new features like Anti-Lag (which the devs kindly gave to us for free without the need for the Rally Adventure Expansion) and the free cars, despite some might not being everyone's taste, seems to be more themed and varied and looking at the next update, I don't think they will be slowing down anytime soon (literally lol). The colour filters also fits well considering it's location and the graphics is quite an upgrade from previous Forzas (the water spray is something I always like looking at).
A nice video, but I think the issues comes down to what people expect rather than what is possible for a business.
@@corsa_velocity Yep, I agree to what you said. People have different expectations and knowledge about the game, so they might see it differently. Also take into the fact that different updates cater different people(for instance photo mode updates really benefit those photographers, but not so much to others). It all comes down to how you play and enjoy the game, and I don't think it's as bad as some people might think it is
@@corsa_velocity I think the ultimate greed move would be by putting top 10 most requested cars by the players in the Forza forums into car packs. This is not something they have done at this point.
I wish Polyphony would release GT7 on PC and also make a Forza Horizon style open world Gran Turismo game. Forza is in such a sketchy place, it should be possible for Polyphony to just wipe out the entire franchise by releasing on PC.
GT7 is the worst GT, you don't miss a lot. Beside that PD (gt7 devs) are terrible either, like adding 3 10min races for whole month if not more...
In a sense it's easier to just run GT6 on an emulator in the meantime. But something tells me to with how Sony keeps releasing everything on PC there is a realistic chance.

PD should give us Tourist Trophy back. If not, we have Omega Boost that's seen everywhere within (that trophy, FTO Touring Car).

All those comments stating that the DLCs should have been in the Premium edition are just wrong.
The contents of the premium edition were announced from the start (car pass, VIP bundle, both expansions). Any further DLC released (such as the car pack) were not announced to be in the premium bundle.
This is the same as working out a contract with a customer. You tell them what work you will be performing and tell them your asking price. Both sides agree to the contract, you fulfill your work and get paid.
Suddenly, the customer asks for more work to be done, would you do it for free if said additional work has never been paid for nor was never worked out in a contract before?
Premium edition maybe, but for the ultimate edition it's shamefull, they made us think we'd get any and all aditional content with it just to then make us pay more for a bunch of extra cars, wich is ridiculous and unfair, also it's not the customer asking for more work, they're doing the work after promising us something and then making us pay for it
@@Ferrari255GTO There is no "Ultimate Edition" for Forza Horizon 5. Only Standard, Deluxe and Premium.
And while you are correct that we, as the players, are not asking for these DLCs, I see nothing wrong with them making those packs and selling them. You are not forced to buy the DLCs, you are not greatly missing out by not owning the DLCs.
If anything I feel like the DLCs are more than far to cost money, especially when considering how many free updates the game has gotten, including some pretty big QoL changes (photomode update, Eventab 2.0, Eventlab Island).
Also, as a sidenote: Forza Horizon 4 had an Ultimate Edition, and nobody complained that the Hot Wheels Legends Car Pack was not included in that pack back then.

@@DatWut more than likely they did not, and since the dev team changed for Motorsport (wich i'm not sure but i think it'll also affect horizon) i think they had to stretch the in-between time for the games and as a consequence are tryng to keep FH5 alive longer, wich is the main and only reason i'm buyng any of the packs, afterall i still want the franchise to grow as i believe it's got the best SimCade physics out there ever since Motorsport 3 and i'd hate to see it die. In fact many people complain that the physics engine is the old one but i see no need for a new one, if anything re-balancing the PI rating should be a bigger concern.
the only car game I've been impressed with lately is The Crew Motorfest, I wish there were more frequent game updates that add new features but it's a generally fun game and nice new cars are always added for free.

One of the Achievments is to take a Picture of all cars - while they are adding new cars all the time you have to buy them to at least complete the whole game itself

If the developers get a contract with a manufcturer that they didnt have for the base game, i wouldnt mind if the said "Hey guys we just got X brand onboard our game with 5,6,7 new cars for 5 dollars/euros". I mean yeah why not
Yeah, games like GT2, PGR, and FM1 which had 200 cars. Now we have 800 and free cars to earn every week, for years. I don’t feel like it’s expensive to day 1 FH5 players who’ve paid a few $$ now n again but to new players who want every car, maybe it’s a bit overpriced to buy it all at once

Forza games before Forza Horizon 4 didnt have the Festival Playlist, instead they got monthly dlcs, and most people didnt complain.

They don't understand their customers, i'm a seasoned player, where do they want me to use these DLC cars ? i've completed all the races ! i purchased all the DLC cars up to the Chinese car pack, there is no way in the world i'm buying any more especially every 4 weeks, how about updating the game with new tracks, map extension etc.
The negative reviews are kinda of ridiculous because the car pass says it only covers the first year of the game 😐
The only valid reason to complain about new paid content would be if it was at cost of new free content, which it's not the case. Playlist rewards are still coming strong, and we still have more cars than any previous Forza.
Good point about saying that what is in Car Pass, and what is not, isn't obvious to new to Forza players, though. I wouldn't pull the trigger on purchase without checking what's in package, but that's apparently too much caution for many, since some people don't even read through main page, before breaking out credit card.
Btw, monthly DLCs was how cars were added in FH1-3, there was no festival playlist, almost all new cars were paid content. The only difference was PG would start launching them from day 1, not 2 years after release.

When you bought the game, you got the whole game with all of the features and hundreds of cars, the only difference between old games and new games is that now the new games are allowing you to get MORE content after the release for those who want it. If you want a ton of new cars in Forza Horizon 6, you have to understand that the licensing costs a ton, which means the cars need to be introduced in FH5 for an additional cost in order to fund the next game. It isn’t corporate greed, it’s literally just making it possible to produce another game. The only people who are greedy are the people who demand tons of new cars that were never promised to be added to the game for free and expect that to make sense financially for a game studio.
if you do the math, if a 10 euro dlc comes out every month, it totals to 120 euro, which is double the price of the base game

The reason I stopped playing. Back when the game came out I bought the premium edition for $100. Years later they come out with tons of DLC packs (basically microtransactions) soon after they've already collected everyone's money. Never buying another game from them again.

I’m happy paying for basically only a new map every couple of years and more modern cars but when the game came out I specifically payed extra for the premium edition thinking I’d get all the cars, I’ve got no problem doing challenges for cars that helps make the game fun but I don’t want to have to pay for car dlc’s when I only want to use one or maybe two of the cars in them and when I’ve already payed extra for a “premium” version of the game.
bought the ultimate edition before launch of the game and enjoyed every single dlc the forza devs have released after bought every monthly dlc aswell basically the full game and i dont see the issue with it all i can see is the people who complain about new dlc cars not being included into the car pass which was a great car pas for 34 WEEKS!!!!!!!! are all poor and cant spend 5 euros on 4 new car models never seen in most other games

i dont really feel offended by the pricing of the car dlcs however it would be nice if the car pass included all car dlc's or add a buy in to all of the car dlcs like a one stop shop since there really isnt one and im sure that could get confusing but i think thats the point

They had done good free DLCs and bringing new free stuffs each month, specially if you use eventslalb that is a hell of a great feature
If i was T10/PPG, i would had just did like halo infinite and made a season 2 carpass, at price of original for more 6 months, would had cashed in the same amount of money they need to continue the updates while not annoying the players that are likely annoyed with how Forza Motorsport was as wel
That's exactly why my strategy for Forza Horizon 5 has been standard edition but to buy the expansions as soon as they come out, but no extra cars, mainly because they are absolutely crummy and are only drivable online (online solo/multi both)

They tested the waters in fh4 by releasing a paid hot wheels dlc pack which was not included in fh4 ultimate edition. That should have been our red flag

It's not the first time they did it. The ultimate edition never guarantees all DLCs. I think in FH4, there's a few dlc packs not included, and it's even worse in FH3. I remember being so pissed that paying over a hundred dollars for the ultimate edition does not get you the 2 expansion packs and many more DLCs!! Yeah so honestly I'm not complaining as much as last time since it's much worse last time, I think this time it's just exaggerated because these DLCs are coming out years after FH5 release
the best part is that steam told me about a "free" dlc in fh5. i dubble checked all the dlcs. not one fas free...
People on Reddit be like "brooo it's always been like that in all forza games, therefore its okay!!". I thought that I'm losing my mind by being an only person, who doesn't support this DLC BS, but thankfully I finally found another person with actual brains in the head.

This is the reason i only play f2p racing games. Such as rocket racing. It's arcade/futuristic, but an infinite amount of content such as new cars and maps released for multiplayer every month.

Don’t forget the latest patch just killed sound mods. All imported engine sound mods basically died. The lack of support for mods is killing this game for me
yeah it can be annoying, in fact outrages that it's not in the premium addition, but the good news is, is that it is not pay to win, the game still has not hit mobile EA badness yet and it's still a forza horizon game that is very fun.. i really do think that it was just cause turn 10 wanted to join the trend of "car packs" from all the other car games besides gran tourismo lol, the thing that mostly scares me though is the future of forza because jesus christ, forza customs should speak for itself what the dev's might have in store for the future

I got attacked on reddit by the childish cultists because I spoke against the total cost of DLCs against the whole game + its cars + 2 DLCs. Their reason is many gamers jumped on game pass wagon, but all of them failed to provide any source of any reliable statics of what they've said 😅

Most comments against the negative car pack reviews point to the fact FH3 had car packs. However, I wager the reason such backlash has occurred is due to the fact little has changed with the gameplay loop since launch and gives little insensitive to purchase these packs apart from F.O.M.O.
This is just the reason why I stop having any kind of favours with the game, the greedy practices the route forza has gone is just abhorrent... People already have the expensive edition of the game, why spend more? It's just sad.

Currently (At least in Poland) FH5 Standard costs as much as FH4 Ultimate, which is insane, considering its the same game with fancy changes that could all just be an update or DLC, and this is sure not improving things. Oh yeah, this is ON SALE too, not even full price
Remember back in the day when car games had challenges to unlock certain cars in the game. This pay to play stuff is insanely overpriced.
I preordered the Premium Edition on my birthday back in 2021, and since the game has not improved a single bit since its release without any worthwhile content being released that isn't paid, I will not buy from this company ever again and I am not going to preorder a new game if the gaming industry is in THIS state.
They're doing what they did with Minecraft, do nothing with the base game, except where half decade, then throw microtransactions everywhere.
I completely agree with you about the sounds. Forza Horizon 3 HUMILIATES 5 in the sound department. FH3 is so crisp and powerful, driving over water is an eargasm with headphones, while FH5 sounds so dull and low quality for some reason, like if the mics they used there were a decade older than what they used for FH3
Fun Fact: There is a lot of players in FH4, and tbh, is just amazing.
I pre ordered fh5, with one thing in mind: I'm buying the most expensive one so I don't have to pay any additional penny on a virtual car or map dlc...a mistake I'm deeply regretting even to this day.
Last time i'm blown away with racing games is when Gran Turismo 7 released, it's a great game, and better in many aspects from previous game
I will never buy the premium version again on day 1 ever again. I will buy the prenium edition, but when its on sale.
