It's incredible how many of you consider these celebrity fights "real boxing". It's mostly just a show, also, Mike hasn't been "Mike" for decades now. He's a senior citizen.
By the way it’s also not the first time Mike hasn’t been Mike…. Anybody old enough to remember the Buster Douglas fight? Now he had to play a lot more for real there but last night was some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen as such a huge level of viewership
He was the real Mike who 58, has health issues, bums knees, bad back and arthritis… he was the REAL Mike at this age. Accept reality, he isn’t 25 and retired nearly 30 years ago after multiple knocks out.
According to Mike's twitter post, only 2 months prior to this fight he had an ulcer that exploded and caused sepsis. He nearly died and had to have multiple blood transfusions. I can't believe he even faught. If you watched his fight against Roy Jones Jr from 4 years ago it was very different, he was way more dynamic.
Yes thought the same, if Mike indeed successfully got himself back into that form and then some, he could've actually made it somewhat competitive since Jake is not world-class just younger, but life had other plans and he slipped down a slope and is no longer fit for a fight
I know many men who have maintained strength well into their 70's. And you are correct that what really goes away is not strength but the reflexes and snap. As a guy 67 going to soon be 68 I'm speaking from experience 😊
You see that a lot with strongman athletes. They're physical strength stays fairly consistent into there late 30's to 40's with slow declines afterward, but there agility and speed to lift and move quickly with heavy weight dramatically slows down.
Agreed~ "snap" is a word I was searching for recently, thanks, & yes to reflexes. I do believe we can somewhat compensate, yet there is a natural process at work to be respected~ though not thrilled with, to be honest.
as Ali said "when you get older your mind wants to do things that your body can no longer do, you can see shots and you try move and your body refuses to follow the commands of your mind"
He did, you can tell by his body transformation he was taking it serious but he had health issues arise during camp and couldn’t postpone the event anymore otherwise he would risk losing a big payday. He let go of his ego and just showed up to collect a check.
I once asked the great Larry Holmes after he took a fall against Johhny Du Plooy at Sun City if it was worth it. He touched his back pocket and smiled and said yes. I think that explains the Tyson we saw. I am not lying about Larry Holmes, I was in my final year of high school selling flowers at the airport when he came through. Honoured to have met him.
don't know what i even watched, watched a 60 year old successfully survive 8 rounds against a power punching legit pro boxer. never should have been allowed to happen, its not their fault, its the people who sanctioned it. they tricked us all
Everyone seems to have forgotten how the original fight date had to be postponed because Mike had a medical emergency on a flight, which turned out to be an ongoing issue with an ulcer that flared up. That prevented Tyson from training and I'm also pretty sure that it just doesn't go away. To me, Tyson looked sick - not old, sick.
Of course you're right in what you say. Let's also not forget that having a career in boxing entails lots of shots to the head, and head trauma over time can also diminish hormonal regulation and motor skills. Boxing has a short window of prime. Mayweather stuck it out a while because he was always more defensive. Getting hit takes it's toll though.
I didn't watch it because I was afraid Mike would lose. I remember when he was the most feared man in boxing. I suspect Tyson didn't train like he was serious about it. To get beaten now by a chump like Jake Paul is an embarrassment.
100%. I can’t believe how many are saying Mike is too old and past it. No way. He just stood back, never advanced with any agression and threw a handful of punches. Mike’s style is to always be the aggressor and close distance. He’s lethal up close. He just never made any attempt. Total scam.
@@goransarafinovski3613 63 and a former professional kickboxer so what happened to Evander Holyfield?! What happened to him? He was a better fighter than Holyfield and got knocked. @@ChuddmasterZero cause he was afraid. Hes an old man. My god how dont people see this. Hes sat around for past 20 years smoking tons of pot. His skill are long gone
Shawn I am glad you mentioned the qualities you lose first. Tyson especially being a short heavyweight he heavily relied on speed. Its why Foreman was able to win the title at 45, he never relied on speed.
I'm 74, have always been in shape, and have had a clean diet--most of the time. I have a couple black belts but haven't trained in traditional karate for over 30 years. Last month I started back into Shotokan and can do a whole 90 minutes, but my body does not work the same. Pivoting on old knees is a downer, and fast-twitch muscles are not fast-twitch anymore. So, I feel for Mike. But, hey he gave it a try, and for 20 million he can smile all the way to the bank.
Doc, this wasn't a real fight. 2 months after the Roy Jones Jr Tyson fight, Roy Jones was on a podcast talking about the rules. They weren't allowed to hit each other in the head, with any power, and there were several other rules. After this came out the promoters of this fight announced it was a "professional" fight but the reality is Mike and Jake had an agreement. They made a ton of money but they weren't trying to knock each other out. The hardest part for Mike was doing 8 2-minute rounds and making it look convincing. I promise you this was not what they advertised it as. This wasn't Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul, the real deal no holding back. This was a money maker. We were all deceived. But what they accomplished last night is truly remarkable from an advertising standpoint. They used Netflix which meant 282 million household had access to the fight. Right now they're saying 120 million people watched but I think the number will be much higher than that a week from now. In that sense, this was genius and in the future if they use Netflix more fighters will get seen and the money will be outrageous. For example, last night a 60 second advertisement cost $50 for every 1000 views. Do that Math!!!
am 70, ketovore, cardio and stretch nearly every day , resistance and HIIT every four days ,48 hour fast twice a month 13% fat feel great.Am strong ,flexible with good endurance.
I'm 73 now but in my late forties and fifties I started blowing out muscles and tendons by trying to do stuff I could do with ease in my twenties. After several surgeries, I've learned a few lessons about my capabilities. I exercise daily but won't even attempt what I could do in my twenties. I still occasionally injure myself even though I try to be careful. Life is a balance.
Yes, mid 40's is when the decline in strength begins. I'm 63 now, and I've weight trained since I was 17, and weights I lifted easily in my 20's and even 30's would bury me now, even though I look pretty much the same!! It's depressing, but you have to accept your declining strength, and realize that you're no longer trying to improve, but just trying desperately to hold on to what you have. You need to accept your weights will become lighter as you age. Having said the above, I have actually improved some areas of my physique, by using exercises that in my youth I thought were not productive.
If Mike had done all the right things his whole life he couldve put on a much better performance and maybe even won last night. But he badly abused his body. Using steroids and party drugs, sat for two decades of inactivity post-retirement, went through dramatic weight fluctuations, got super heavy and then super frail on a vegan diet and none of that is good for your performative longevity.
@@MaverickLee11 So you acknowledge he did everything else known to man but the ethical quandaries about steroids was just a step too far? Its obvious he used them throughout his career.
I too am 57. Started carnivore August 30 and went from 222 to 178lbs. Stopped snoring. Sleep all night. M skin looks younger and I even lost wrinkles on my face and my hair is growing back on my bald spot. I had bad scalp psoriasis and it is about 90% gone. My strength increased as well. It is amazing.
See it all the time, explosive power starts to go mid to late 30s with most fighters.. fighting a younger fighter when your 59 is a bad idea unless your getting millions 😉
As a former sciatica sufferer (former thanks to you Doc) I believe Mike had a flare up. It is probably the most debilitating experience I’ve ever experienced and the medication for it can sometimes can give you that spaced-out look on your face. The same spaced-out look we saw on Mike’s face.
As a 56 year old, I feel a loss of formidability compared to my younger years. I look after myself and eat correctly, namely red meat and eggs. That inevitable loss has been much reduced. Even my acceleration and reactions have not taken much of a hit. I reckon I could give Jake Paul a bloody nose. 1 million bucks, set the fight up for August 16th 2026 when I will be 58!
Dr. Baker you are the man. I'm a slim 54yo carnivore man who re-reads your book. There is no need to compare yourself with other people. Compare yourself with last week you. Mike Tyson made a lot of money, easy, as that's what he did.
Shawn, the one thing people aren’t talking about and I don’t know why Mike had an ulcer let go two months ago. He became septic had eight blood transfusions and almost died. That’s why Mike looked the way that he did the other night not because he’s 58 that is a very long recovery For a young man. Mike Faught Roy Jones at 54 watch that video you do not diminish that quickly everybody that saw Mike that night knew something was wrong. Well we now know what the wrong was. He almost died of sepsis that kills a lot of people every year, and he was almost one of them.
As a 53yo who just took up tennis as a sport. There is a clear delay from your brain saying “go right” and your body responding. I feel like I saw that with Tyson where he saw an opening but missed it and stayed on defense. Biggest thing though, recovery time both short and long term. Think Tim Duncan at the end of his career skipping away games and only playing 2 quarters to be able to stay at high level throughout the playoffs.
I lost a lot of respect for Mike. I thought Mike was a warrior, but it turns out he just wanted money. He was a ferocious monster during his training videos. But during the fight, there was not one second that he brought that ferociousness in the ring. THAT WAS NOT FATHER TIME. THAT WAS A CHOICE! HE CHOSE MONEY!!
His training videos didn't show him trying to get inside on someone with a lot more reach. His training videos didn't show him taking hits. That's where the age became real, in my opinion.
I mean, sure. Maybe you can say that and if the roles were reversed you’d keep your “integrity”. But it’s easy for any of us to say that because we’re not given the opportunity. Hes 58 and was offered 20 million. I’m going to assume he didn’t use his money properly and might’ve been a little tight on cash. This was an opportunity to help him out
Absolute joke. Literally watched the first minute and Tyson had THREE very clear combination chances that COULD have been thrown. Set up........ Big time !!!
@@mctrustsnoone3781 He didn't even look great in the first round. Like I've wrote he had literally at least three chances to smash those combinations in within the first minute. He failed to do so and that's literally as much of the debacle I needed to see. Netflix cancelled !!!
@ totally fair on the Netflix cancelled, but I did enjoy the first round. At least he was on the offensive. But I also think it was fixed, so no way the handlers would have been happy with that outcome. Just my two cents. Edit: the handlers wouldn’t have been happy with a first round win, I mean. Sorry, my original phrasing was rather vague.
@@mctrustsnoone3781 I still stand firm about the first round. Tyson had multiple opportunities to hammer home those combinations that we've all been watching for months. But no, nothing. And I'm not kidding about watching the first minute or so. It was clear as day a set up..... So sad really.
Legs were gone and game over. Mike needs fast strong legs to be effective, close the distance and get off effective power shots. His knee issues were a dead giveaway that he had no chance. Legs go the fighter goes. If his legs were good he may have pulled it off. That said he looked really good going to the bank. Legs were working well then.
If I'm not mistaken Tyson actually stumbled on his walk out to the ring.....something ain't right. Those legs moved like they belong to a 88 year old. I believe he was also wearing a knee brace so an injury probably hampered his movement. So glad I didn't waste my time watching this debacle live.
My netflix for this fight was freezing up constantly, yet I was able to watch other programs. Glad I can listen to Doc Baker for his take. Mike needs to eat more meat!
I am 58 and surf in Hawaii. Being out with a bunch of 30 year olds is not easy to keep up. I can out last them, but I can't react as quick and and get where I need to be as fast as them.
Another thing to keep in mind is boxing is probably one of the top 5 least longevity sports around: Gymnastics, Swimming with sprints, Track and Field, Boxing/MMA, Soccer I think he didn't do bad considering his age, lifestyle and also doing a sport that is one of the top 5 least longevity sports around. Aging is a real thing of course but if you have a good lifestyle and engage in activities that are more promoting longevity you can keep up with the young people much better.
My biggest concern is the "fight clearance approval process" by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. We're talking about a clearance which remained in place even AFTER Mike Tyson lost 50% of his blood in June, even AFTER Tyson was seen in a wheelchair in Miami Airport in August. An appalling lack of duty of care towards someone who clearly needed protection from himself. This fight should never have been allowed. Too much money at stake obviously - both within Netflix and the betting industry.
It's quite common for those who have robust genetics to not develop good lifestyle habits when appropriate and keep acting like they always have even in older years, leaning on their natural genetic presence. These people often break down much faster than those who had to figure things out early. Their durability backfires and manifests into fragility down the road. People who start out fragile or weak can sometime overcome those weaknesses and that fragility ends up making them durable in the long run through the discipline it demands. Their weakness leads to strength.
I Agree. Was not a fan of Mike Tyson since he took a chunk of Evander Holyfield’s ear in the 90’s. But I did say a prayer for him yesterday to not be injured. Glad Jake Paul took it easy on him .
Watch him training, then watch the fight. Training, even at 58 he looked like he was 20. In the fight, he looked like he was 90. He came out the gate in the fight looking like he could barely walk across the ring. Two completely different people from training to fight. My thoughts, it was the biggest joke in the world but I'm glad he made millions. I'm happier we didn't have to pay to watch their spectacle. lol
I think the hype and the buildup and the waiting( over a year. Wasn't really the best thing for Mike. When your 58, regardless of being in shape or not, your prone to get these little micro injuries, inflammations or what not ,when you can be fine one day and then the next, your a little off. When Mike was younger he overtrained by most standards, but he could get any with it and even benefit because he was 19 years old . The body is extremely resilient at that age. All those crazy neck bridges that he was famous for cost him down the line, with neck surgeries, and a bad case of sciatica, so bad he was in a wheelchair for awhile. So if they put him on a training routine that he was using when he was a champ, thats going to cause a bad burnout. At older ages you need to train intensely, but far more rest in-between, because you cant recuperate as quickly. I don't know if he did road work, but that should be modified as well. If your knees are being destroyed ,forget it. The power of a punch is generated from the legs, and the ability to get inside to land uppercuts as well. With shot tendons in the knee, you will be reduced to standing in place, or hopping in place and just trying to block punches, which is what happened.
Mike is definitely not in his prime, but to me it was obvious that HE was holding back. He had clear chances for his signature combos etc. Jake also used the distance and reach which is fine, and mike most likely doesn’t have the speed he had before…BUT even if mike did a minute of what he did like a week before in training footages, they wouldn’t be able to stick to the script, which in my option was, no uppercuts from mike, which he clearly held back if you re watch, and they had to fight long enough for jake to win by points. I’m glad Mike made money but it’s sad that it’s all about money, and even if you can you never beat up the person that’s about to pay you in 16 minutes. He was biting the bullet by biting his gloves. I’ve never seen the biting fixation ever, and if you look at how he fought with Roy Jones JR (clearly not a full on fight) he should not lose all that in 4 years. And he was holding back back then too. 💰
Mike looked great in training because he was throwing 2 inch punches. He was never extending his arms. Of course he looked quick and powerful, but Jake had way more reach, and Mike was never going to get that close to him. You still buying in to the fantasy that Mike is still Mike!! He's not!! He's an old man, and that's a totally different person!
Didn't look like iron Mike was into it at all, he looked extremely tired; I think he was there just for the payoff, he really didn't intend to win, at this point he needs to retire because I really don't think he can take a sudden blow to the head, young fighters have died because they brain hemorrhage; Mike will always bee the greatest fighter aside from Mahamud Ali, it's time for him to enjoy the rest of his life
I just couldn't do it brother. I want to remember Mike as the guy who walked out to win youngest heavyweight ever, you remember, when the sponsors t shirt wouldn't fit over his traps so they had to cut a hole in a towel 😂
For the entire fight (minus the first round, which was entertaining) Tyson looked bored and like he’d rather be sleeping. No fire. I think if there had been fire/had it been a real event, we would have seen a different performance.
Neither Tyson nor Paul were fighting with anything close to the same intensity and power shown in their training clips. Did they Hold back for this fight or are the training clips older footage ??? We will probably never know but I think it was agreed up before hand to treat it like a sparring match.
I saw Mike hitting the bags in those training videos-he might’ve managed a few rounds against Paul, but not even that. Plus, Mike’s dealing with a knee injury. They tried to cancel or delay the fight but couldn’t pull it off.
doing really well is an understatement. i'm counting the days until you turn 60 so I can send people vids of your physical prowess as a "senior". redefining aging.
You are a very intelligent, very successful man, that’s easily recognized, and in very good shape for your age and I think it’s awesome that you have those records rowing. With that being said, after watching your athletic moves in that little sparring session, it’s very obvious, Not trying to be disrespectful in anyway, but you’re not a natural athlete, and what I mean is skilled athleticism, not the rowing or powerlifting or any of that other stuff, but simple, natural, God-given athleticism, I’ve played collegiate and professional sports and there’s just a different fluidity about an athlete that is so recognizable at the first swing of a bat, the first throw of a baseball or football or watching a golf swing, that type of stuff you cannot give anyone, they are born with it, and then they refine their skills along the way. But you are the type guy that will out work the lazy, naturally, gifted athlete. Love your insight on so many things, been watching your videos. I am also an older man, 56 years old who can still throw a baseball in the low of mid 90s but I know that I cannot throw for 6, 7 or 8 innings against competitive players anymore, we just have to accept the fact that mother nature has gotten the best of all of us. Tyson had that gift but mother nature has taken it back like an unkept landscape.
Yes if you stay away from drugs and alcohol and visit the gym regularly you can stay in pretty good shape. I think the sport of boxing and Tysons hard life has taken a toll on him more than we want to believe. I wish he could have done better 😢.
U honestly don't think they would let them 2 fight other than for the fact of money involved , Mike wouldn't be aloud to box professionally , it was purely a film set and both played the intelligence of the public , they both knew what not to do like not go too hard on each other it seriously was just exabision fighting ,was a scripted fight so don't feel to bad for yourself 6:14
As someone who’s 53, humans hit a crossroads at 40 imo. If you don’t take care of yourself, you physically go downhill very, very quickly. The body does not snap back from abuse like it used to and that’s why some in their 40’s look like they’re in their 60’s or even 70’s. Usually people settle down in their 40’s and will not push themselves physically. It’s that pushing through discomfort, that will keep you young.
Mike didnt have his legs and lungs. . . I dont think its a matter of age. Its a matter of training constantly for years vs tyson who trained for a fight. Mike hasnt been training hard enough for long enough. Paul has been consistently training (along with his youth) mike hasnt maintained what he was . . He let it slip away. You cant revover everything that fast, mentally or physically. . . With that in mind i think jake paul was respectful to mike and showed class when he stepped back right before the closing bell and bowed his head to mike
I agree with you, I don't think it was fixed. I think Mike got hurt training with his knees. His peekaboo style relies on pivoting off the center line to land power punches while moving in to keep the combos going. Without legs he could only pivot a few times early on and never could close the gap. Jake just mostly scored with jabs at will since Mike couldn't get out of the way and has a short reach. He knew all he had do was avoid the power for the fight. He got caught maybe 3 times. I think both of them set up the fight so Mike wouldn't get hurt badly. Short rounds and less of them, feel Tyson out early on and if you get a serious advantage don't seriously hurt a legend.
It’s a lot easier to stay in shape if you continually work out (like you) week in and week out, but if you quit working out and take a break for over 20 years, and don’t take care of yourself, you’re gonna lose a lot, You’re not gonna snap back in shape very quickly, especially with the food and drug choices Mike was using.
Dr Baker, check out Ben Patrick the "knees over toes guy" and he'll help you get your jumping and agility back. His training fixed my knees, hip and ankles and I'm 3 years older than you.
The number one thing I saw in the fight was Tyson’s diminished lung capacity. He couldn’t get enough wind to sustain any form of attack. His punch strength appeared to be good enough to do proper damage to Paul, he just didn’t have enough oxygen to repeatedly punch the way he needed to. Still, as someone who’s watched Mike’s whole career, I give him much respect for going through 6 months of hard training and showing up with the confidence that he could win. As a 59 year old, there’s no way in hell I would step in the ring with Tyson.
Tyson only used 10% of his power. If he knocks out Jake, which he could’ve in the first round, he wouldn’t have taken home the $20M. Also he wasn’t doing the typical combos he would normally do
Weird comparison. Tyson was a world class athlete who was at the pinnacle of his sport. He was elite. It isn't possnible for anyone to stay anywhere near that level once they age last their prime. This is true of all elite athletes.
The fight was the spectacle that it was supposed to be. Mike Tyson got a nice 8-figure payday and neither fighter sustained any damage. At the end of the day, Father Time and Mother Nature are undefeated and even a once physically dominant specimen like Mike Tyson will slow down eventually and succumb to the ravages of time, but staying healthy and avoiding garbage like sugar, alcohol, etc. will still put guys like Tyson and Dr. Baker in the top .01% of 58 year-olds in terms of fitness.
'Boxing Fight' was a circus act - 70k paid $47 to 500 for the spectacle . The 'Under' Cards won. Tyson won - never had anything to lose as thankfully it was apparent that Paul was not going to box if Tyson couldn't. As much as many hate on Paul - he is a performer that puts on the show. And everyone is part of that Circus for watching.
I loved the fight. Of course it would have been fun if Tyson still had something in the gas tank. He has serious medical issues at this point, after decades of serious activity and injury. I have tons of respect for Jake for not trying to knock him out in the last few rounds when Tyson was obviously gasping.
It was a fixed expo fight, Mike and Jake are actually friends... Boxing is notorious for these kind of fights, even Rocky lll showcases this with Rocky vs Hulk Hogan... Muhammad Ali did the same.
I'd say the fact that Tyson can even get in the ring and go toe to toe with a much younger pro boxer puts him in the top fraction of a percentile of his age group even with the partying, weed and shrooms. Pretty amazing and just think if he had kept himself in better shape.
At 58 I'm glad my chosen sports are kitesurfing waves and foiling. I still rip hard on big waves which is flow and power than explosive. With my morning routine I expect at least another 10 years of ripping hard.
I think Mike looked pretty good considering all his aliments. Like you stated, he had abused his body over the years with excessive drugs, partying, and poor diet. So considering all that he actually looked pretty good. I just think how amazing he would have been if he lived a healthy lifestyle from the beginning. And Jake, credit to his team, came in with a good game plan.
This was a joke from the start. No one serious about fighting, no matter the age, would take a fight while injured. That said, While Mike looked to be in pretty good shape, his face looked like he was about to die. The whole thing was quite sad. Neylix is the big loser for the huge production and not being able to handle the capacity. What a great example of what not to do if you want to btoadcast live events on a massive scale.

Honoured to have met him.
wow don't think i seen that before, but i met larry and his wife.. very nice guy, his wife is a gem.
He never fought that guy I looked at their boxing records perhaps you meant someone else other than Du Plooy? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_du_Plooy
It was a scripted cash grab.

100% I can't believe Baker falls for this bs. Would be like falling for convid or political theatre.
The weigh in convinced me of that.

That was as real as wrestling.
It was a total joke lol
Of course you're right in what you say. Let's also not forget that having a career in boxing entails lots of shots to the head, and head trauma over time can also diminish hormonal regulation and motor skills. Boxing has a short window of prime. Mayweather stuck it out a while because he was always more defensive. Getting hit takes it's toll though.
And injuries, Mike has a lot of injuries
It's the difference in age that annoyed me. Clearly Jake is just a💲opportunist.
Always has been.
I didn't watch it because I was afraid Mike would lose. I remember when he was the most feared man in boxing. I suspect Tyson didn't train like he was serious about it. To get beaten now by a chump like Jake Paul is an embarrassment.

It was totally fixed my friend. He was holding back and it was more than obvious to me at least. It's all about the $$$. sad!
I totally agree. If Tyson really tried it would've been over in the 1st round, even at 58.
100%. I can’t believe how many are saying Mike is too old and past it. No way. He just stood back, never advanced with any agression and threw a handful of punches. Mike’s style is to always be the aggressor and close distance. He’s lethal up close. He just never made any attempt. Total scam.

Life is a balance.
what precautions do you take to be careful? would like to know your advice for the future
Using steroids and party drugs, sat for two decades of inactivity post-retirement, went through dramatic weight fluctuations, got super heavy and then super frail on a vegan diet and none of that is good for your performative longevity.
exactly what i said in my vid, when did he ever take roids though? he did take everything else known to man
@@MaverickLee11 So you acknowledge he did everything else known to man but the ethical quandaries about steroids was just a step too far? Its obvious he used them throughout his career.
I too am 57. Started carnivore August 30 and went from 222 to 178lbs. Stopped snoring. Sleep all night. M skin looks younger and I even lost wrinkles on my face and my hair is growing back on my bald spot. I had bad scalp psoriasis and it is about 90% gone. My strength increased as well. It is amazing.
The deciding factor was Tyson’s near fatal medical emergency just a few months before the fight.
See it all the time, explosive power starts to go mid to late 30s with most fighters.. fighting a younger fighter when your 59 is a bad idea unless your getting millions 😉
Fun fact: Tyson was vegan for a while, but quit when he saw it's bs
I really liked the Barrios vs Ramos fight. Lots of good hits, a couple of knock downs, a bit of blood. It was great! Lots of respect for those 2 guys!
That was the best fight all night!
As a former sciatica sufferer (former thanks to you Doc) I believe Mike had a flare up. It is probably the most debilitating experience I’ve ever experienced and the medication for it can sometimes can give you that spaced-out look on your face. The same spaced-out look we saw on Mike’s face.
That’s exactly what I thought. To not be able to move and have to box. That in itself makes him a warrior 🙌🏽
Worst fight ever. Netflix ought to refund to fans and not pay the fighters. How much did the attendees pay? I’d be pretty upset.
😂😂❤
Dr. Baker you are the man. I'm a slim 54yo carnivore man who re-reads your book.
There is no need to compare yourself with other people. Compare yourself with last week you.
Mike Tyson made a lot of money, easy, as that's what he did.
Why would ANYONE BOTHER.. they both loosers/idiots..We shouldnt be entertaining this crap..
Dr. Baker- you are an absolute unit.
Well done Sir 👍
Shawn, the one thing people aren’t talking about and I don’t know why Mike had an ulcer let go two months ago. He became septic had eight blood transfusions and almost died. That’s why Mike looked the way that he did the other night not because he’s 58 that is a very long recovery For a young man. Mike Faught Roy Jones at 54 watch that video you do not diminish that quickly everybody that saw Mike that night knew something was wrong. Well we now know what the wrong was. He almost died of sepsis that kills a lot of people every year, and he was almost one of them.
58 isn’t old nor should you be that diminished at that age. I’m 63 now. I can still perform some tough tasks.
My martial arts teachers are in their 60's to late 70's and still move fast and better than most. Tyson was either unwell or didn't try.
Yes, Tyson was old. But he was also unhealthy. He was recently hospitalized and his leg was bad
.....His leg wasn't bad in his training videos, 20 hours prior to the fight.......
and had been in a wheelchair
Leg, back and sick. He was in so much pain and probably medicated. Poor guy.
and he looked 20 lbs overweight
You could see he’s not healthy not just old
As a 53yo who just took up tennis as a sport.
This was an opportunity to help him out
They're showing you professionally edited videos, man. You can make a 10 year old look like a beast with an iPhone and a lapdog, my dude.
Exactly!
I kept thinking that Tyson should go on carnivore.
Absolute joke. Literally watched the first minute and Tyson had THREE very clear combination chances that COULD have been thrown.
Set up........ Big time !!!
yep
He looked great in the first round and then just sort of hung out for the remaining 7. Very anticlimactic.
Yes, I saw the ring chat at the end. He confirmed it was a knee brace from injury, but that he wouldn't blame that or push it back due to it.
My netflix for this fight was freezing up constantly, yet I was able to watch other programs. Glad I can listen to Doc Baker for his take. Mike needs to eat more meat!
Yeah, that right leg is definitely injured. There's liniment all over it and the knee brace.
If you can't get inside on someone with reach, yer fk'd
I am 58 and surf in Hawaii. Being out with a bunch of 30 year olds is not easy to keep up. I can out last them, but I can't react as quick and and get where I need to be as fast as them.

Another thing to keep in mind is boxing is probably one of the top 5 least longevity sports around:
Gymnastics, Swimming with sprints, Track and Field, Boxing/MMA, Soccer
I think he didn't do bad considering his age, lifestyle and also doing a sport that is one of the top 5 least longevity sports around.
Aging is a real thing of course but if you have a good lifestyle and engage in activities that are more promoting longevity you can keep up with the young people much better.
Mike didn't throw any punches, But he did throw the fight!
I went to bed. After all the hype it wasn’t live on the East Coast until well after midnight.
I'm happier we didn't have to pay to watch their spectacle. lol
Would be fun if Sean Baker knocked out Jake Paul wearing Revero shorts. Free advertising and more reach for the message
The major problem with Mike I suspect was the knee issue. One bad leg effects the ability to punch hard.
Mike looked like in good shape for his age.
He looked sick and unhealthy. You can see it in his face and his lack of movement
He looked super medicated.
Bro you look amazing for your age!! Im 54 and you inspire me!
Tyson is an impressive guy! No matter what happened! Hes in better shape than 99% of 20-50 yr olds!
Mike seemed insightful, sane, and at peace. A very different Tyson.
He used to be batshit. Maybe he was driven by insane rage. He sure seemed like it.
Agreed - this Mike just looked like he was disinterested and wanted a nap. He has resolved his killer instincts.
The only losers were us the viewers who didn't make money off the bets
Mike was sick. He almost died 3 months ago.
All the ignorants saying it was fixed i bet they dont box and never sparred with a guy on their 50s
The fight was as fake as politics, transparent as hell.
Mike is a really cool guy. I had small talk in vegas w him totally coincidental our paths crossed and we just chilled for a bit.
I am also an older man, 56 years old who can still throw a baseball in the low
of mid 90s but I know that I cannot throw for 6, 7 or 8 innings against competitive players anymore, we just have to accept the fact that mother nature has gotten the best of all of us. Tyson had that gift but mother nature has taken it back like an unkept landscape.
For an ageless freak, look no further than Mike O'Hearn... born in 1969, fashion model, low bodyfat still one of the strongest men in the world.
I totally agree it was exactly what i seen wasn't a professional fight by any means and you wouldn't expected it to be.
Mike trained much harder. This was a show, that’s all.
mike looked awful was 25 lbs overweight. I look better than he does and I'm 53. He obviously didn't take this seriously
Yes if you stay away from drugs and alcohol and visit the gym regularly you can stay in pretty good shape. I think the sport of boxing and Tysons hard life has taken a toll on him more than we want to believe. I wish he could have done better 😢.
I don’t think a 28 inch vertical is something you’ll ever see again.
I`ve always been very happy with a 6 inch vertical.
@@magnuscarter9195 Ha !
Personally I think they just over trained Tyson like a 20 year old and his body couldn't hang.
💯agree with you. He did more than smoking pot, cocaine, alcohol etc. for years.
it looked rigged to me, just a money grab for both of them. Jake could of knocked him out. I was rooting for Mike
I’m not sure he could. While Mike wasn’t exactly a fire cracker, he reacted to Jake’s punches like Jake was throwing muffins.
I like Mike!
Absolutely agree. Jake was going easy and was just a publicity stunt and it accomplished its goal of money making.
didnt want to look like an asshole either and knock him out
Mike tyson had a knee and back issue going on..look at his movement against Roy jones only 3 yrs ago
Watching Mike sparring, total beast .
Watching Mike in a script fight slow as F..k!!
