Everything you need to know about Island Expeditions: 1) The weekly quest rewards 1500 7th legion rep (or horde equivalent) 2) They don't reward enough azerite to make you want to do them 3) They very much feel like a chore, so you'll probably ignore them after hitting exalted
Just got to 116 and was feeling pretty lost about what to do once I got here (I decided to not play Beta so I could enjoy live more)... thanks for this video... it helped me a ton!
ive discovered that the dubloons also can be exchanged for rep tokens. about 100 per turn in, which can make your rep grind WAY less. The only problem is that they seem to drop from the bags at the end about 3-10 per bag per round. So it can take about 10-20 rounds to get 100 bloons. I have heard tales that their are dubloons laying around in various locations. Been trying to validate that and so far nothing.
Personally I ignored most of the island expedition content during the beta. Getting your necklace to a higher level is useful, sure, but finishing the weekly requirement for the bigger bonus is only really needed if you wanna max out your necklace if you're immediately doing heroic/mythic raiding - because of the AP level requirement to unlock your azerite perks on those items. Before that though, if you're gonna do LFR or normal raids first, you won't feel the need to grind the island expeditions as much.
The pvp ones are interesting they really are but having played them on the beta I’m pretty skeptic in the pve side of island expeditions. I’m pretty sure that in three months it will just be another chore that we will be obligated to do.
The AI is really good and slightly overtuned, which is something I really enjoy because it's not brainless content. The expeditions are a challenge and I think they'll continue to be so at least until the second raid.
yes they are, there is no incentive to do any more beyond the weekly cap, and the pvp version is a hybrid pve/3v3 arena, and I'm afraid they will share scenario's fate with being both obligatory and obsolete at the same time
I can see people complaining about heroic being too hard, blizz proceeds to nerf the difficulty, and then people will complain about it being just too easy.
M. R yeah wouldnt that be fun? Also on the PvE side of things, it would be neato if we could hire some of these advanced ai classes to join us on dungeon runs as allies. We can dream...
Nice vid as always...I had one question regarding the mounts though...They are automatically given at the end or you have to kill specific rares for them to drop?
what I need to know is, can you get these other extra rewards from heroic? Or do you have to do them on mythic for that. No site anywhere specifies, and if you have bad luck you're not going to find out for a while until you waste a lot of your time. So because you didn't clarify that... well no this isn't "everything" you need to know about island expeditions.
I think islands will be fun, but no one is "forcing" you to do it. An island a week is not that much to ask, IMO. Filling the bar is hard if you aren't that active, but there are also world quests which are way more casual friendly. And it sure beats Maw of Souls spam, at least, that is what I heard many people did early in legion for their AP grind.
This has the potential to turn in to a maw of souls all it's own. The issue isn't the number of avenues one can use to get AP. It's that in order to bring your item level up in a timely fashion. You'll have to do all of them as much as you can. Mythics, world quests, Island expeditions and even the mission table. You'll need to pound them all as hard as you can to keep up with your guilds expectations. God help you if you want to explore professions, alts, achievements or other extra activities in the mean while. I like the implementation of artifact power in BFA better than I did in legion in theory. But this looks like it's going to be far more demanding on our time.
I think Island Expeditions look great have a lot of potential. But as Selwen eluded to, this is very much a "1.0" version and can potentially get stale. I really hope Blizzard capitalize on all the possibilities and keep expanding on them.
Overgearing the islands is part of your character progression I see nothing wrong with it. But as we get more content and more Raids Blizzard already said that we will even get more ISland types and emeies and maybe even modes.
I was wondering why it took forever to buffer when my internet is just fine, I thought maybe its because I have WoW open and my bf might be downloading something too. Then I saw your video auto buffered in 4K.... Jesus dude I wasn't expecting that quality for a WoW guide! XD Great quality video nonetheless, thanks!
I don't think it will be a bore as WoW has been a static grindfest for years and years. Doing the same dungeond, raids and world quests over and over again. This is randomized, so this should add an element of exploration. And as dungeons or world quests .. you are not forced to do them. It's a choice to become stronger.
No matter what, any and all content will become trivial and a chore. It's just how mmos work. I can give blizzard props for at least trying to make something interesting and drastically different from the usual content they crank out each expac
The pvp difficulty will maybe allow pvp talents, seeing as it is pvp. But the islands system itself is made to mimic pvp even if you are doing a pve game, so maybe we will be allowed them there aswell? Maybe? I don't know much about the islands, thats why im asking.
I've got a feeling this is gonna be really fucking annoying. You come across this mob which is really rare and probably drops good stuff and suddenly you've got some fucking OP rouge blinding you forever
I wonder if they can tune npcs to go beyond Mythic difficulty. Like Mythic +15 npc's AI is muuuuuch more advanced like a 2k player's performance. Speaking of which, I wonder why they haven't introduced this AI theme to arenas. I would really love to practice against some before diving into the real PVP. Great video! Thanks for the info!
@Chris I feel like I let my teammates down too much when i make even slightest mistake :/ I get too critical of my mistakes, which is good, but then don't let it go, which is bad, and get nervous about not making it again more than actually playing the game... At least against bots, I feel like it's just basically pvp vs very hard enemies and that's ok cuz I'm used to high end pve.
They are just like regular quests but require some exploration as the map doesn't point out to you, say...the key to open the cage or the torch to set free some NPC. There are not many variants so when you find a torch, keys, shovels etc, pick them up there might be a quest around requiring it.
fucking love it. and ther is nothing forcved upon u ever, i dont like PVE raid so ive never done them even though i "missed" out but then i have been doin other fun stuff and gotten in to pve as mythic dungeons.... remember there is nothing ur forced to or HAVE 2.
Humm, I did, you reach level 116, follow the War Campaign quests, it will give you a quest to unlock. Once that's done you get to play the normal mode with the other modes(heroic, mythic and pvp) only available at max level behind item level requirements.
War Campaign quests lines are what quests? What is the questline? Ya. I think I am just confused. I'll just go through all the quest in my book thingy and finish them. eventually, I guess I'll do what you are talking about the war campaign quests. thanks anyways.
azerite will be like current state of artifact knowledge xD starting of at like 1-200 and ending up getting 12390821730981273091 Billion per pick up...
Heroic islands ain’t no joke right now. I’ve lost more than I’ve won. The strat that works is b-line to the enemy ship and camp the ai. Pull mobs to the ai ship and keep the ai at their graveyard and you’ll win on heroic.
The rewards for the PVP difficulty are too low. At a certain point you will always win mythic, especially since the advanced AI is actually really stupid. Your PVP win rate may fluctuate a lot. You may end up with less AP than in normals...
I guarantee you that Blizzard has thought about the longevity of Island Expeditions. I have no doubt that they will keep rebalancing and developing it to some degree. And I really hope it stays relevant and develops throughout the entire expansion. And great video!
Yes, the pve difficulties are obviously gonna get boring after awhile when you out gear them and if blizzard doesnt buff the numbers but I still think they are better than for instance farming heroic dungeons for valor points or wakening essences in past expansions. I can already see alot of heroic/mythic raiders ignoring island expeditions later in the patches when you have unlocked all the armor traits.
this vid is outdated... Expeditions are a straight up zerg skip everything cap azurite asap by the time the events and other "cool" things happen its over... knock out the weekly for your chunk of azurite there is no reason to go back until the weekly resets
We need more account-wide content. I like playing more than one character and have multiple 110s. I like repeating quests but grinds like this are exhausting.

For wow players, this is like getting a promotion! Get it? Cause they're jobless living with mum so wow is the job.. after all people bitch about grinding all day, how ya gonna do that unless your jobless. Lol rather chill with my gf, go to work, and play wow like it's a video game and not a life xD
Im hungover and cant focus on anything, but hearing Selwens voice in the background soothes me. Keep em coming!
Butters will love the new World of Warcraft Island Adventure game!
lols
I literally LMAOed
Hilarious
Advanced AI can jump
These are actually looking pretty great IMO

Very well done on the details.

This is the most exciting part of BFA for me, reminds me of D3 rifts.
Im really exited for this it looks really damn fun
The pvp ones are interesting they really are but having played them on the beta I’m pretty skeptic in the pve side of island expeditions. I’m pretty sure that in three months it will just be another chore that we will be obligated to do.
No! click the pvp one!
the ai fucked us on heroic, god forbid mythics
The AI is really good and slightly overtuned, which is something I really enjoy because it's not brainless content. The expeditions are a challenge and I think they'll continue to be so at least until the second raid.

People are getting gear from this I would like to see the gear we can earn as well as mounts. Thanks for the videos!
I can already see the group invite requirements for the HC and Mythic tiers being astronomical, just they are for dungeons/raids.
Looks fun to me. I can't wait.
I hope they take that advanced ai and use it in other places. Like arena or dungeons.
Bubblebuddy advanced ai in arena where there is only players and no npc enemy mobs
M. R yeah wouldnt that be fun? Also on the PvE side of things, it would be neato if we could hire some of these advanced ai classes to join us on dungeon runs as allies. We can dream...
Bubblebuddy were you dropped as a child? You want advanced ai in something that there is zero ai? How did you not get M. R's response?
The Rageaholic you add the ai in, derr. Gives you teams to practice against, with no other mobs interfering like there is in the Islands.
If you are so shit that you need teams as bad as the AI in this to practice against, Arenas aren't for you.
Bfay squad unite
Jacob Custer the way he says bfa is so fucking cringe 😂
It sounds like BfI
I'm looking forward to "SLANDS" 😋
Nice vid as always...I had one question regarding the mounts though...They are automatically given at the end or you have to kill specific rares for them to drop?
It's at the end of the run, mobs don't have any loot drops on the island, besides the orbs.
i will run this untill classic is out. this is endgame,
what I need to know is, can you get these other extra rewards from heroic? Or do you have to do them on mythic for that. No site anywhere specifies, and if you have bad luck you're not going to find out for a while until you waste a lot of your time. So because you didn't clarify that... well no this isn't "everything" you need to know about island expeditions.
Hi there, great video, your graphics look awesome, can you tell me whats your gear?? =)
I'm level 120 and been playing and cant find how to start this. Any tips?
I think islands will be fun, but no one is "forcing" you to do it. An island a week is not that much to ask, IMO. Filling the bar is hard if you aren't that active, but there are also world quests which are way more casual friendly.

which addon are you using that allows you to move the huds with out changing everything else up?
if you pick pvp island expeditions does that mean you vs another 3 people on the expedition or something?
Yes, its a 3 v 3 'scenario' if its pvp difficulty, the opposite team will be people instead of NPC's.
im just thinking more the fun fight 3 other people with pve mixed in
PVP mode gives as much AP as mythic Expeditions
Such clean content
I'm a simple man. I see a new Selwen vid, I upvote
Jay Sanchioli I'm a simple man too. I see a simple man leave a comment and I upvote.
Jay Sanchioli you're a unoriginal man
I think Island Expeditions look great have a lot of potential. But as Selwen eluded to, this is very much a "1.0" version and can potentially get stale. I really hope Blizzard capitalize on all the possibilities and keep expanding on them.
Make the first move? Or just kill em first then go for mobs
solid vid, subbed
Overgearing the islands is part of your character progression I see nothing wrong with it. But as we get more content and more Raids Blizzard already said that we will even get more ISland types and emeies and maybe even modes.
Looking forward to them. Much prefer something different rather than grinding the same WQ over and over for AP
So whats the mythic island exp average winrate?
I was wondering why it took forever to buffer when my internet is just fine, I thought maybe its because I have WoW open and my bf might be downloading something too.
Then I saw your video auto buffered in 4K....
Jesus dude I wasn't expecting that quality for a WoW guide! XD
Great quality video nonetheless, thanks!

I've played with at least one group that made me question why they play Wow.
nice vid....will u do a vid for warfronts?
Yep, if I can get the footage I need this week.
done like 100 expeditions and 1 pet drop haha. so thats abit crap.
TheTrollshaman I got 2 in my first three 💀
A m+ system would benefit it at higher gear lvl to keep it relevant
What addons are you using?
Thanks for this guide, was exactly what I was looking for, well done!!! :-D
No matter what, any and all content will become trivial and a chore. It's just how mmos work. I can give blizzard props for at least trying to make something interesting and drastically different from the usual content they crank out each expac
Class roles definitely matter in expeditions... Certain comps do way better than say 3 mages.
I wonder if pvp talent will be available? For all difficulties or only for pvp?
Nuuboat well they’re called PvP talents for a reason; you need to have PvP enabled for the talents have any effect.
The pvp difficulty will maybe allow pvp talents, seeing as it is pvp. But the islands system itself is made to mimic pvp even if you are doing a pve game, so maybe we will be allowed them there aswell? Maybe? I don't know much about the islands, thats why im asking.
Are pvp talents enabled during Island Expeditions? ?? :D Thanks!
If in the PvP mode, yes.
IS THIS SYLER?
I've got a feeling this is gonna be really fucking annoying. You come across this mob which is really rare and probably drops good stuff and suddenly you've got some fucking OP rouge blinding you forever
Have never seen weapons or anything else beside the currency.
how much azerite do you get from this?
How much is his graphic right now ?
Here is everything you need to know, do them for the weeklys then never do them again.
seafarers doubloon how to use them plz????
I hope they are better than the WQ because they suck atm. Will try out these ty...clean out them bags that is horrible man lol
Can you do a video like this, but for warfronts?
Working on it as we speak. :)
What? scared of Pvp? You don´t need any "preparing " dude! come on! click the "find match" button in the pvp tab like a man! :D
My guess is that they are testing the system with this first.
@Chris I feel like I let my teammates down too much when i make even slightest mistake :/ I get too critical of my mistakes, which is good, but then don't let it go, which is bad, and get nervous about not making it again more than actually playing the game... At least against bots, I feel like it's just basically pvp vs very hard enemies and that's ok cuz I'm used to high end pve.
pve train to do casual pvp? seriously?
That'd be neat tbh
They essentially scan how top rated pvpers act and react..then program npcs in a similiar fashion
I came here expecting you to address the bonus objectives on the islands as I have yet to complete one. :(
They are just like regular quests but require some exploration as the map doesn't point out to you, say...the key to open the cage or the torch to set free some NPC. There are not many variants so when you find a torch, keys, shovels etc, pick them up there might be a quest around requiring it.
I ran 3 of them and I am not running them anymore. Not fun for me at all.

How do I start this?
Mythic + expedition?
fucking love it. and ther is nothing forcved upon u ever, i dont like PVE raid so ive never done them even though i "missed" out but then i have been doin other fun stuff and gotten in to pve as mythic dungeons.... remember there is nothing ur forced to or HAVE 2.
I loved the Scenarios in MOP. Looking forward to doing something similar to them in BFA.
Ya, but you didn't explain how it's fully unlocked???? Anyone explain that part please?
Humm, I did, you reach level 116, follow the War Campaign quests, it will give you a quest to unlock. Once that's done you get to play the normal mode with the other modes(heroic, mythic and pvp) only available at max level behind item level requirements.

What's the max player count?
3, 6 if you opt-in for the PvP mode.
azerite will be like current state of artifact knowledge xD starting of at like 1-200 and ending up getting 12390821730981273091 Billion per pick up...
Do you recommend waiting until 120 before doing any expeditions as I understand it scales with your level.
You can do before to start working towards your weekly AP reward if it stays on live on lower levels, if not, not much point doing it before 120.
Wait wait, there's no pve only mode????
yep, 3 pve modes(normal, heroic and mythic) then theres the pvp option, you just got alliance or horde NPC's.
why we collect azurite??
Its basically the new artifact power, it empowers some of our gear.
Heroic islands ain’t no joke right now. I’ve lost more than I’ve won. The strat that works is b-line to the enemy ship and camp the ai. Pull mobs to the ai ship and keep the ai at their graveyard and you’ll win on heroic.

I disagree completely, they feel grindy as hell and not dynamic what so ever. Finished about 7 or 8 of them thus far...
this vid is outdated... Expeditions are a straight up zerg skip everything cap azurite asap by the time the events and other "cool" things happen its over... knock out the weekly for your chunk of azurite there is no reason to go back until the weekly resets
Nice video - thank you. New sub...
We need more account-wide content. I like playing more than one character and have multiple 110s.
I like repeating quests but grinds like this are exhausting.
Sneaky Pete!!!!!....Sneaky Pete....Sneaky Pete.....Sneaky Pete!!!!!.....
If i am a tank i must change my speck to dps? I don't know....
Nop, roles don't matter, tanks or healers work perfectly for it, in fact, I found having 2 dps with a tank a pretty good combo.
A group doesn't need a tank or a healer, but will usually appreciate the poo out of having one.
I would assume that a VDH would be really strong here (Lots of CC and the magic buff, also really mobile.)
I did a few....im already over it. Cant believe they made this basically a necessity to advance your character smh
it’s not much to ask lol
Cry baby
it’s not hard to do and you can have fun doing it if you don’t suck at pvp
@@DanielAnderssson lol you must be easily entertained. Youre into Fortnite too huh...
I see island expeditions very like playing diablo rifts, exactly what i enjoy.
didnt answer the one question i needed answering
Which is? :)
Are the non-Azerote shinies worth clicking on? All the little foodstuffs in particular. I see some buffs from the bigger items like alters and such, but I can't always tell what the small stuff like apples and meat do for me.
All the foods(small shiny), no matter the type just heal you up(maybe some give buffs, never realized), the shrines(big shiny) there's a vast quantity of them, for the most part, they are indeed worth clicking they also come with trade-offs, e.g More damage but receive less healing and such.
If I see one I click them pretty much and if my HP is low and there's no healer, I click the foods. :)
I would have like this better if they removed the PvP aspect
only thing is why would you play this as pvp? since it will just turn into one big ganking fest and you get nothing special for it
Vagabundo i know this is late but players are worth more azerite the longer theyre alive. Was in one where my team killed the other a few times and we were worth 300 azerite each while the enemy team members were worth 10 each. Farming the enemy team is very very bad in this.
Jared Hettick alright that makes sense thanks for the reply
Neato!
I feel like this isn't as rewarding
Everything you need to know about island expeditions, short version: They're repetitive, you'll be bored to tears after your 10th and you'll still feel "forced" to do them because of the reward structure. This is what an MMORPG is, nowadays.
Or maybe to add to your video ending.... maybe Blizzard adds more to it so it might get to the point of Mythic+ ?!
The main point of the Island Expeditions is the PvP part of it! The game is full of things to do for the carebears!
Needs to reward something better to not be useless content, which imo it currently is.
“who talks to randoms these days anyways”
that’s kinda sad, man.
Tis indeed
Wish people still did. Only find good community in private servers nowadays :(
@@faveli6369 theres always classic :)
I did 5 for to unlock the research and its already boring as fuck.
With around 17 x 110's to level , this looks like it would get old quick :/
Nodders maybe dont play 17 characters? Do you really want blizzard to balance the game around having 17 characters?
What's balance got to do with it and who asked for balance ? Surely people would argue the classes are balanced or as good has they get anyway , why would playing any number of characters change that ? I know people who have 30+ . People get bored and like to play alts :)
Be Fi Fo Fum, I hear a mispronunciation
Oh that's a new one :D
Haha. Keep up the good content man, you and preach are my favorite for quality analysis.
lol fish mace
Beef hey
Why the heck does everyone who makes these videos always have needlessly full giant bags full of gear and stuff. Every one of them, seriously.
They are lame, you do a few and think ah that was fun but doing them regularly for only azerite and maybe a random useless reward? hell no.
For wow players, this is like getting a promotion! Get it?
