It's funny how much I miss this sound. It's been years and I can still pick out a 2 stroke with a Pro-Circuit exhaust a mile a way, blindfolded. That was the sound of the dominant riders of a generation.
Not much between 2st at 250cc vs 4st 450cc prety neck on neck we realy need to stop arguing which is better 2015 4 strokes have better engine tecnoligy get over with it all bikes run 4st remember its not the bike its the rider with skill that wins plus that 500cc 2st is horrible to ride because it vibrates like hell 4st is smoother
yeah i think you're right, which is funny because the typical high pitched 125 sound is something i normally don't like, but that 125 is a little deeper than normal, it sounds perfect.
Still on a smoker here. Been down 4-stroke Blvd in 2003, turned around, and came back home to the YZ250 in 2006. And will never go back to thumpers-burg. The Thumper has pretty much ruined amateur motorcross. Anyone notice how the mini Thumper (CRF150R) is pretty much a FLOP??? You almost NEVER see that bike at the tracks. And Four-strokes in general are too loud, too costly to repair and rebuild. Who gives a damn if they are torquey and powerful. They have made riders LAZY. Any Adult who pays his own bills would rather own a bike that is relatively inexpensive to ride and maintain. And the four-stroke just ain't it. (been there, done that). Blow a motor on a 450F, and you might as well throw the whole bike away because it costs so much to fix it. (and i know, because i've done it more than once). Long Live the Smoke!
vertti syrjälä i likw bolth to i would like a 250f or 450f forlike riding a round town and my rm125 for trails and racing cause i had a 4 stroke never had the cops called first day with my 2 stroke the cops pull me over
The dude on the vintage KX revved it like a goddamn Detroit Diesel. Give it some gas! At vintage MX races the big Kawasakis shake the ground like an F-15 fly-by. But that requires that they be actually ridden.
The 125’s always sound the best. They have that loud scream and on the pipe sound. The 250’s are faster of course but this little tight track the 250’s couldn’t open up. A 500 is the best sounding bike on start up and chopping the throttle by far but we never hear them scream because humans can’t run them to the full potential usually
Hey WOZ do you know where they're having the next two stroke Shootout this year in 2013? If you know can you send me a link to the track they will be having it at and all the information I'm leaving this comment on July 6, 2013 thanks!

Cord Scott why does having a blind fold on effect your ears
The 86 CR 500 should have won hands down, you can't beat the sound of an old bigbore 2 stroke IMO.

yeah i think you're right, which is funny because the typical high pitched 125 sound is something i normally don't like, but that 125 is a little deeper than normal, it sounds perfect.

Yeah, good whip at the end too. :P
How the hell did that little kid on the 125 whip so well? Haha
THE KID ON THE YZ125 AT 1;22 WAS PRITTY GOOD!
this sound is so beautiful haha
A main difference would be that a 4-stroke had wider power band compared to a 2-stroke which has it's power band at the higher end of it's rev limit.
Coty Schock was cool
The dude on the vintage KX revved it like a goddamn Detroit Diesel. Give it some gas! At vintage MX races the big Kawasakis shake the ground like an F-15 fly-by. But that requires that they be actually ridden.
Two Stroke Rocks!
and this is why 2 strokes are bad ass!!
1:20 "They all sound the same" slap this child!
i dont know what it is but the yamaha at 3:00 was just pure music to my ears, and was the best sounding to me.

That CR500 was by far the best sounding.
Watch Coty Schock's videos and helmet cams he can whip an 85 like a pro!... And apparently a 125 too!
2:03 What happens when you try to be like ronnie....
Oh this SOUND !!!
That cr500 sounded the best
@krammepower10 it's a sound contest not a rev limiter contest

Hardly any blue smoke, I wonder what oil these guys are burning...! Here in Brazil our 2 strokes jettison lots of blue smoke!
1:40 damn that little kid can ride

What are the differences to four strokes and two strokes except two strokes are more powerful and different sound
1:29 nothing sounded better than this...
119 or Shane Durham!
i think the ktms sound the best. but i may be a bit biased due to the fact that i own a ktm 85
that cr500 DAYUM

Oliver Biron or Coty Schock
2 stroke: the sound of speed.
