Hello Paul, sorry for your predicament. I also faced the same problem while growing up musically. But what I did, I used to go to church three times a week. I had to become a friend to guys in charge of instruments and he latter came to trust me with store keys. So I could come two hours earlier before him, do my practice and by the time he arrived, I was good. I also became our pastor’s loyalist through my good job to the sound guy and he let me play during non-Sunday services and sometimes I could borrow the instrument for my practice at home. Lastly, I did the unthinkable, I used to sleep in church sometimes so that I can get access to the instrument: because our church pianist never liked any other person “who-knows-how-to-play” be noticed in the church and he could chase me away from the piano all the time. I hope my long story be of nobility to thee my friend.
