So nice to see my husband! He's absolutely phenomenal and is very very beautiful. Joe continues to enlighten my heart each & every day. I've followed his career faithfully since his beginning and is so proud of the growth/ success. The best to you always baby. Love you much.
@daddymusyc01 No..This bass players name is Hans who learned the gig in 2 days before we left to do this show in L.A then Japan. He replaced the previous bass player who was also the MD who walked off the gig after weeks of rehearsals 2 days before the tour.
Yes. Lake did the first few dates & japan. Then Nathanial Townsley did the U.S & Europe tour dates, which included a TV taping on BET's Planet Groove. I'm trying to get a copy of that. I've never seen it, but we performed ractically the whole 'All That I Am' CD on that.
@daddymusyc01 I see much hasn't changed... Not 'bitter'. Professional. That's why you 2 weren't called back for the National Joe/Chico tour, Or S. Africa & Jimmy was. Joe said, 'They Joke too much.' My hope for you is that you can take those scriptures that you can quote so well & actually learn from them. And yes. I'm serious about my work. That's why I have a lot to show from my career over the past 10 years and you have.. Hmm your channel speaks for itself... And I'm the one who's 'haten'.
How did you fly in the background vocals back then ? I'm not even sure Ableton existed at that time lol Was it hardware samplers or minidisc ? Just curious about the technical challenges a production like that must have faced in those days :)
@@Jamaicafunk Interesting. So he put the samples (as midi notes) on the sequencer or did someone trigger them live with the pads ? I would imagine playing them with the pads would have been too risky :) Then again that's what Morris Hayes said he had to do on the keys live with Prince - trigger the samples and loops with different keys because Prince always wanted it to keep spontaneous - so no fixed sequencing beforehand. Must have been a nightmare to keep the time throughout the show though :)
@daddymusyc01 I do indeed remember you on the tour. You & your church buddy made it a miserable experience for most of us with your constant insults & jibbing.

WOW !! Gene Lake was on this tour... very nice!! BTW: I see you over there on the keys too!
@beatz04 Thats correct. A suggestion made by drummer, Gene Lake.
Classic
@daddymusyc01 You may be thinking about the band before this one. The Bassist in this Video's name is Hans. After we did this show we went to Japan.

beatz04 MPC. Joe was a master at it.
@@Jamaicafunk Ahh ok. Would have never guessed but yeah makes sense - technically it's a sampler afterall :)
beatz04 yep. Joe would take it into his hotel room while on the road... and come up with new arrangements of the show the next day.

Also crazy: Talking to you 9 years after my last comment on here :) Man, time flies.
