Sam Bouajram Oh, I'm not saying they both don't have regrets. But what she saw was if he did everything right for her, it would have cost him his dream. At some point, we all have to accept that we can't have everything. But they wanted their dreams more than a relationship together. At the same time, neither one would be successful if the other hadn't pushed them. So yeah, they wish it could have worked, sure.
Kevin Bradley wait I totally didn't catch that Sebastian doesn't open up Seb's in Mia's playback! Wow thank you for pointing that out it really adds depth to the movie's lesson that sometimes you have to choose between your dreams and your relationship

Just saw this movie yesterday. It reminds me of old movies where there's a lot of random dancing and singing to help tell the story, it was very nostalgic
When I saw the film, I completely missed the lyrics (which really set up the characters and theme/backstory) because I was focused on the wild choreography high energy and wondering what this would all lead to - great number and now I see its story significance
It wasn't shot downtown in los Angeles. According to a video on this particuilar scene, they leased the usage of a couple of freeway overpasses which are quite a ways from the Downtown LA area. The transition is at the transition of the 710 Long Beach Freeway and the 105 Ronald Reagan Freeway, located to the east of the South Central area of Los Angeles and LA County. Nevertheless, there was something like forty takes that took place of this opening scene and the temperatures were very hot. The inside of the truck with the tipani drum, flautist and brass was at leas a hundred and four degrees Farenheit and during several takes the door was stuck. I, for one, am one of the few Angelinos who loves living in Downtown where I always use public transportation and it saves me a great bundle. I'm also a native of LA and LA County and I"ve seen the great change that's been happening all around. I love riding on the Gold Line light rail line and zipping by traffic on the 210 Foothill freeway, which, like all the other freeways in LA, are very congested during rush hour. Even when I drove a car, I waited a couple of hours to leave when the traffic had by and large died down. Los Angeles exploded after WWII because of Hollywood but also the huge aero/space industries in the area. The population exploded and I remember when just my dad's mere paycheck was more than enough for he and my mom to purchase their first house. Those days, of course, are gone forever.
I think about that day I left him at a greyhound station West of Santa Fe We were seventeen but he was sweet and it was true Still I did what I had to do 'Cause I just knew Summer-sunday nights We'd sink into our seats Right as they dimmed out all the lights A Technicolor world made out of music and machine It called me to be on that screen And live inside each scene Without a nickel to my name Hopped a bus here I came Could be brave or just insane We'll have to see 'Cause maybe in that sleepy town He'll sit one day the lights are down He'll see my face and think of how he used to know me Climb these hills I'm reaching for the heights And chasing all the lights that shine And when they let you down You'll get up off the ground 'Cause morning rolls around And it's another day of sun I hear 'em ev'ry day The rhythms in the canyons That'll never fade away The ballads in the barrooms Left by those who came before They say you gotta want it more So I bang on ev'ry door And even when the answer's no Or when my money's running low The dusty mic and neon glow Are all I need And someday as I sing my song A small-town kid'll come along That'll be the thing to push him on and go go Climb these hills I'm reaching for the heights And chasing all the lights that shine And when they let you down You'll get up off the ground 'Cause morning rolls around And it's another day of sun And when they let you down The morning rolls around It's another day of sun It's another day of sun It's another day of sun It's another day of sun Just another day of sun It's another day of sun Another day has just begun It's another day of sun It's another day of sun
Excellent movie...definitely worth all of the hype. Outstanding music that makes you feel...congratulations to Justin Hurwitz for a great blend of jazz, classical & wonderful melodies.
The melody evoqued a sense of heroic hope against odds even before I started paying attention to the lyrics (the first time I heard this song was as instrumental in another video). Great work from the composer(s)!
Sure, it was cool and all, but how about the fact that five guys were waiting in the back of a U-Haul probably suffering heat strokes as they waited for someone to open the door for them so they can play their instruments? Did they know there was gonna be a musical number?
Oh, please. Small children don't have the ability to get out of a hot car. Those are completely ambulatory ADULTS who agreed to be there in exchange for what was probably very decent pay, and who is to say there wasn't air conditioning inside that van? They may have very well been more comfortable that the dancers who were sweating it out in 115-degree heat.
And of course they "knew" there was going to be a musical number! Do you know anything at all about filmmaking? The whole thing was choreographed and carefully rehearsed for weeks!
It's so hard for me to listen to any of the songs from this movie without crying real tears man. The movie was so beautiful and tugged at all the heart strings.
my freshman year, me and my friend who was a junior used to drive to our drumline’s parties after football games and when this played she always honked.. we had so fun and now I’m super nostalgic
Reminds me of commuting on the train back from uni after a long Friday, sun is shining, I’m taking in the London skyline before going back to the countryside. Ready to come back to my crush’s dance show and summer vibes study sessions with iced coffee or perhaps an orange and passion fruit J20. Then watching the sunset as the first stars illuminate the evening July sky, those were great days.
There are some mistakes in you lyrics, so here's the right one: [Intro: First Girl] Ba-ba-da-ba da-ba-da-ba Ba-ba-ba ba-da-ba-da-ba Ba-ba-ba ba [Verse 1: First Girl] I think about that day I left him at a Greyhound station West of Santa Fé We were seventeen, but he was sweet and it was true Still I did what I had to do 'Cause I just knew Summer: Sunday nights We'd sink into our seats Right as they dimmed out all the lights A Technicolor world made out of music and machine It called me to be on that screen And live inside each scene [Pre-Chorus 1: First Girl & First Man] Without a nickel to my name Hopped a bus, here I came Could be brave or just insane [First Girl, First Man & Second Man] We'll have to see [First Girl] 'Cause maybe in that sleepy town He'll sit one day, the lights are down He'll see my face and think of how he... they finally did it! a musical that not only doesnt fucking suck, but that is also one of the best movies i have ever seen in a theater! i wub u lalaland! :3
Who could possibly thumbs down this track?! This is awesome! Please go and see this in movie if you haven't it in theaters. It's totally worth it, and if your human you will like it.
This musical turn my normal and ordinary day into a marvelous experience. The moment that the music begin, it instantenously put a happy smile in my face. Praise for Damien Chazelle for creating an unique musical and Justin Hurwitz for the music score. If we were completely captivated by some previous musicals, then in 30 years, we will tell our friends how we experienced this film A few words: Praise for "La La Land"
Not only this song but the movie is completely AMAZING it make you have mixed emotions at times you feel happy, sad, mad, etc. It make you feel like you, yourself are the character. Unexplainably amazing. *Takes hat off*
All I could've asked from this is to bump up the volume of the vocals a tad. Especially for the solos, I caught myself leaning in trying to hear. It seemed a little quiet and soft compared to the intensity and volume of the instrumentals. It must have been a sound mixing choice/issue. I get the notion of the purity of non-broadway voices and such, but volume is different than altering the pitch and such. Otherwise, great music and movie.
As I've heard they actually sang it live while filming.. like they did with Les Misérables :) It's hard to mix volumes when it's all recorded in one take, I guess

That was a beautiful movie but very sad. They need to make more movies like that.

At some point, we all have to accept that we can't have everything. But they wanted their dreams more than a relationship together. I think about that day
I left him at a greyhound station
West of Santa Fe
We were seventeen
but he was sweet and it was true
Still I did what I had to do
'Cause I just knew
Summer-sunday nights
We'd sink into our seats
Right as they dimmed out
all the lights
A Technicolor world
made out of music and machine
It called me to be on that screen
And live inside each scene
Without a nickel to my name
Hopped a bus here I came
Could be brave or just insane
We'll have to see
'Cause maybe in that sleepy town
He'll sit one day the lights are down
He'll see my face and think of how he
used to know me
Climb these hills
I'm reaching for the heights
And chasing
all the lights that shine
And when they let you down
You'll get up off the ground
'Cause morning rolls around
And it's another day of sun
I hear 'em ev'ry day
The rhythms in the canyons
That'll never fade away
The ballads in the barrooms
Left by those who came before
They say you gotta want it more
So I bang on ev'ry door
And even when the answer's no
Or when my money's running low
The dusty mic and neon glow
Are all I need
And someday as I sing my song
A small-town kid'll come along
That'll be the thing
to push him on and go go
Climb these hills
I'm reaching for the heights
And chasing
all the lights that shine
And when they let you down
You'll get up off the ground
'Cause morning rolls around
And it's another day of sun
And when they let you down
The morning rolls around
It's another day of sun
It's another day of sun
It's another day of sun
It's another day of sun
Just another day of sun
It's another day of sun
Another day has just begun
It's another day of sun

Where can I find the whole stream
who?
Sure, it was cool and all, but how about the fact that five guys were waiting in the back of a U-Haul probably suffering heat strokes as they waited for someone to open the door for them so they can play their instruments? Did they know there was gonna be a musical number?
Philip Terry Graham the title card said winter, but according to interviews of the director, this scene was shot during a heatwave!
its fiiiiiine! its fine
Murcia doxial That's as bad as keeping a child locked in the car during a heat wave
Who's listening to this in quarantine ?I mean this hits different when you can't go out and enjoy another day of sun..
The start of this song is by far my favourite leitmotif in the whole movie. It's so energetic, light, and fun.
It's so hard for me to listen to any of the songs from this movie without crying real tears man. The movie was so beautiful and tugged at all the heart strings.
this movie inspires and encourages me a lot :) awesome movie ever!!!
When I go to LA in July, this will be what I play as I drive into the city. Time to chase the dream!
How did that dream turn out to be, 2 years later?
@@tiernan848 not too well it seems. Sad.
@@loveless8241 He might be too famous to respond :D
Go get em
4 years later... how's your dream doing bro?
my freshman year, me and my friend who was a junior used to drive to our drumline’s parties after football games and when this played she always honked.. we had so fun and now I’m super nostalgic
amazing. we need more movies like this.
The ending of this mivie broke my heart into pieces. I left the movie theather almost crying. They should have been together!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING THIS!! I LOVE this movie so much!!
Reminds me of commuting on the train back from uni after a long Friday, sun is shining, I’m taking in the London skyline before going back to the countryside. Ready to come back to my crush’s dance show and summer vibes study sessions with iced coffee or perhaps an orange and passion fruit J20. Then watching the sunset as the first stars illuminate the evening July sky, those were great days.
this song makes me comfortably happy and warm
This is probably the best music I've even heard
Cant wait till I watch the movie and recognise these song!!!!! xxx
This is a wonderful movie... WISH TO BE MY LIFE..!
You'll fall in love eventually :)

There are some mistakes in you lyrics, so here's the right one:
[Intro: First Girl]
Ba-ba-da-ba da-ba-da-ba
Ba-ba-ba ba-da-ba-da-ba
Ba-ba-ba ba
[Verse 1: First Girl]
I think about that day
I left him at a Greyhound station
West of Santa Fé
We were seventeen, but he was sweet and it was true
Still I did what I had to do
'Cause I just knew
Summer: Sunday nights
We'd sink into our seats
Right as they dimmed out all the lights
A Technicolor world made out of music and machine
It called me to be on that screen
And live inside each scene
[Pre-Chorus 1: First Girl & First Man]
Without a nickel to my name
Hopped a bus, here I came
Could be brave or just insane
[First Girl, First Man & Second Man]
We'll have to see
[First Girl]
'Cause maybe in that sleepy town
He'll sit one day, the lights are down
He'll see my face and think of how he...
[First Girl, First Man, Second Man & Dancers]
...used to know me
[Chorus: All]
Climb these hills
I'm reaching for the heights
And chasing all the lights that shine
And when they let you down
You'll get up off the ground
'Cause morning rolls around
And it's another day of sun
[Verse 2: Young Man]
I hear 'em ev'ry day
The rhythms in the canyons
That'll never fade away
The ballads in the barrooms
Left by those who came before
They say "you gotta want it more"
So I bang on ev'ry door
[Pre-Chorus 2: Second Girl]
And even when the answer's "no"
Or when my money's running low
The dusty mic and neon glow
Are all I need
[Young Man]
And someday as I sing my song
A small-town kid'll come along
[Second Girl & Young Man]
That'll be the thing to push him on and go go
[Chorus: All]
Climb these hills
I'm reaching for the heights
And chasing all the lights that shine
And when they let you down
You'll get up off the ground
'Cause morning rolls around
And it's another day of sun
[Instrumental Break]
[Bridge: First Girl]
And when they let you down
The morning rolls around
[All]
It's another day of sun
It's another day of sun
It's another day of sun
It's another day of sun
Just another day of sun
It's another day of sun
Another day has just begun
It's another day of sun
[Outro]
It's another day of sun
CORRECT!

In love with the instrumental break near the end ;)
Fabulous song, spectacular opening sequence, brilliant film. That is all!
This musical turn my normal and ordinary day into a marvelous experience. The moment that the music begin, it instantenously put a happy smile in my face. Praise for Damien Chazelle for creating an unique musical and Justin Hurwitz for the music score. If we were completely captivated by some previous musicals, then in 30 years, we will tell our friends how we experienced this film
A few words: Praise for "La La Land"
Why didnt THIS win the oscar??
따뜻하고 음악도 아주 좋아요
One of the best openings EVER!
As an artist myself I can say this is motivation at its finest.
not me listening to this on repeat while playing minecraft....
I haven't watched the movie yet, but I can't stop listening to the soundtrack!
I didn't know what to expect of this movie, y'know? But after this opening song, I was sold.
I LOVE this soundtrack
0:54 always thought it was “maybe in this sleepy town, i’ll sit one day when lights are down”
the library scene was filmed on my neighbors street. my BFF Got to meet Ema Stone in costume and take pictures!
What an opening number I Immediately went over and turned it up . I knew I was in for a treat , a great escape BRAVO !
Not only this song but the movie is completely AMAZING it make you have mixed emotions at times you feel happy, sad, mad, etc. It make you feel like you, yourself are the character. Unexplainably amazing. *Takes hat off*
I now play this every time I enter a city in a traffic jam! Great song!
1:25 Am I the only person who thinks this guys voice sounds absolutely amazing?
Love this film! Thanks for the lyric video, Tana.
Best OST ever. And you can't make me change my mind.
Eva Merckx They still sing into microphones and their sound can be edited before combined with the recorded instrumental.
i love this song
This opening sequence is one of _the single greatest_ in cinema history...bar none, full stop. Absolutely unbelievable in every way.
My dance teacher let us dance to this song and ITS SO FUN with all the music and the fast choreo it’s amazing omlll
*Me watching the clock go “Tik Tok” Tik Tok” as I wait for the video to load*
This song makes you forget everything everything that's wrong and just makes you dance all your cares away ❤👏👏

Just patiently waiting on a FlashMob video to come out anytime soon
This movie is a huge part of what inspires and motivates me to pursue one of my biggest dreams:
becoming a song writer/conductor/musician.
Absolutely fantastic.
