Hey - I would think of it like this: The ETL doesn't perform the data lineage, it creates data lineage....the fact that it is taking data from one source (extract), applying some logic (transform), and loading to target source (load) means that there is a mapping from source to target a.k.a a data lineage :).

If a mapping is a lineage or the process of loading the data from source to target is a Lineage, so do all the ETL tools perform data Lineage ?
