My biggest confession is a few years back I was fishing a gated complex and decided to order a takeaway, had a call from the takeaway bloke saying he was stood at the gate with my food. I asked my mate who had rode down on he's pushbike if I could use it and he said yeah. So I steamed off on he's bike got to one side of the pond and misjudged the corner and ended up neck high in water in the smaller pond next to the one I was fishing. I managed to get he's pushbike out but by the time I had got to the gate soaking wet, phone included the takeaway bloke had buggered off. Ended up back in my swim hungry, wet and with my mates bike covered in pond weed and stinking silt with him rolling around laughing. Wounded was an understatement

    I have a confession.
Was fishing a really shallow lake about 8 years ago. Lovely complex with a cafe on site.
Had a good spot going but as usual in this situation i attracted the attention of the resident swan.
Over the course of my campaign i had countless wipeouts from this swan at all times of the day.
One afternoon i was baiting up the spot with 15mm boilies and as per the swan made a B line for my spot, in a moment of weakness i turned the catapult on the swan, hitting it square in the face with a boilie.
This startled it and it took off into flight, after a really messy takeoff the swan collided with a power line on the field next to me, causing a huge spark and smoke at the conductor about 200yards away.
Luckily the swan was fine and went off into a bush to sulk but i started to notice some commotion down at the cafe.
Yes you guessed it, the power had blown in the cafe 😅😅
I shit myself, hid in my bivvy not knowing what to do, a little while later the owner came round, cursing the swan saying the f**ker flew into the lines and blew the power in the cafe.
I told him what happened, thinking i was definitely getting banned and to my surprise he took it really well but i have to admit i only told him i scared the swan with my arms and voice.

Not so much a confession but a story.
I would have been about 5 and it’s my earliest memory. Me and my dad went fishing in -7 degrees because I was pestering him to go. He knew we wasn’t going to catch but being the hero he is he took me anyway. We was absolutely freezing and had no water apart from what was in the hot water bottles. Anyway we used that water to cook our boil in the bag rice. It’s safe to say it was the worse rice I have ever eaten it tasted like rubber.
Not only that the same night we had an old Coleman stove and we turned it on to keep us warm. The next thing that happened was scary. The whole thing tipped over and the bivvy was on fire. (We had lost some hair). We managed to put the fire out however we had a circle the size of a wheely bin lid in the top of the bivvvy.
This was mine and my dad’s longest memory and he was the reason I got into fishing 21 years ago at the age of 5.
I do have the photos if you would like to see them.
    Take care
    Merry Christmas
    Joe Green

Love the format of the show fellas!!! Okay a little funny one for you at my expense. Fishing a swim I’d kind of become familiar with and was wading out to cast the rods, between sessions the lake (90 acre) had risen by a foot within 5 days…. An unsuspecting me hadn’t noticed the increased water level having arrived at one o’clock in the morning… one step for mankind… you’ve guessed it the additional foot of water totally took an unsuspecting Joe Armstrong by complete suprise!!!!
Soaked head to toe in December 😢 at 2 o’clock in the morning!!
PS: Dovelin, I’ll go turkey with you 😂

Group of us booked a trip to France. Hired a long wheel base van to fit all our kit in and was taking over a cooker and freezer for the lake owner of where we were visiting. To say the van was overweight was an understatement. Got to the euro tunnel and the hire van was leaking oil so they wouldn’t let us on the train. One of the group got a bit tricky to customs so on our way back to the hire place to swap vans the police pulled us over for looking overweight (tipped off by customs) we then had to go to the weigh station and was told we would receive a fine through the post for being over weight. By that time the hire centre had closed and we couldn’t pick up a new van until the next morning. They gave us two smaller vans instead of one as they never had a replacement. We got to the lake a day late, The fish spawned for the week we were there. Then on the last night one of the group decided to drive out for supplies and forgot to drive on the other side of the road turned straight into a French farmer. When he drove back along the gravel path to the lake the front of the van was like a snow plough collecting all the gravel as it went along. Once home we had a lovely £1,500 bill for being over weight and £800 excess for the damage to the van. Apart from that it was a great trip.

Gents as always another cracking podcast!
My confession is about 3 years ago my uncle took me to a syndicate water we fished either side of a corner he had a screaming run just after I cast out , after a couple of seconds I realised I’d cast straight over his line , he called over asking if I’d got his line but unable to bring myself to tell him I lied and said I was into a fish as well , I cranked my line in along with his line and a lovely mid 20lb mirror popped up attached to his hook, I quickly netted it unhooked it ,worried that he was gonna have the hump I covered his hook in a load of weed that was in the margin and put his line back in the water , after a few minutes I shouted over to see how he got on , he said he’d lost it in the weed ( 😅) I then called him round to take a picture of my carp ( or so he thought ) that I’d now claimed and to this day he still has no idea ! Sorry uncle Alan 🙊

My carping calamity….In the early 90s,
I was setting up my shelter of choice, a wavelock brolly and sew-on sides. The lakeside banks were rock hard, so I used to use one of those Gardner solid aluminium screw-in pole with a T bar. I couldn’t get it to bite at first, so I decided, with hindsight rather unwisely, to sit on the T bar and use my not-so-slim physique to help it along… Unfortunately, as I sat down, it rocked sideways, and the T bar slipped out of the cross hole. The pole shot straight through my jeans and underwear and upwards … I’ve never moved as fast removing myself from the offending item!!!
The pole is still in my parents’ garage, and every time I see it, it sends a shudder down my spine… 🤦‍♂️

    Question:
Why is tackle design going backwards?
Every sport on the planet is using lightweight materials except carp fishing. For example, a bedchair used to be about 8kg, today they’re 12kg. A bivvy used to be 6kg, today they’re 14kg.

    • @Kingcarparpeggio
      @Kingcarparpeggio 5 днів тому

Think you’ve probably weighed a sleep system if it weighs 12kg !!!……6kg for bivvy ????……what were using FFS ?……must have been an Argos tent . 😁

    • @Kingcarparpeggio
      @Kingcarparpeggio 5 днів тому

@@ApexCypher_ : You’re incorrect ….just looked it up. Original Aqua Armadillo was 7.5 kg + another 3kg for pegs and ground sheet. If we accept that a lot of newer bivvies are probably a bit bigger ( as are bed chairs) and have additional features like inner skins ( my Avid HQ does and that avoids the need for a winter skin) and porches and peaks then the fact that a lot of bivvies weigh 13 /14 kg ( including pegs and groundsheet)is hardly suprising. I’m not familiar with the Solar bedchair but the fact that it is Memory foam will certainly add to the weight. If you want the comfort it’s going to add to the weight. The other comment about Chinese made products and forced Labour is utter rubbish. Back in the day I had a cheaper bedchair from a firm called Badger ( I think)….it weighed a ton simply because it was made of steel tube and not aluminium which is a lot lighter than steel. They could make them lighter if they were to use Titanium but that is not an option because of cost. Therefore aluminium is the best option.

My biggest calamity: I was having a couple of nights at my local fishery it was pretty quiet the first night then I woke up to find some people had broken in and taken some of my kit as well as other peoples. Then that night I had all the nets, unhooking mat and buckets in my bivvy in case they came back and did a double bluff. The next morning I had a absolute scream of a bite then it swam through my other lines and all the kit it was in my bivvy so I had to walk back and things were going everywhere then nearly lost the fish at the net but managed to get it in JUST. And it was a 31 pound beauty also my PB.

A few years ago I was fishing on Sycamore Lakes at Skegness it was 1st April I had a couple of mid doubles my mate Dennis came for a walk round to see me and told me that they were walking around the car boot when his wife Gill had a phone call to say her son had had is new Jaguar had been stolen. She was very upset. Five minutes after she had another phone call to say April fool. It was funny and then Dennis and I had an idea why don’t we give our mate Martin a ring he had a caravan on site and tell him we had a thirty pond carp in the net. We gave him a call he was excited to see my massive carp. The next thing we saw Martin running along the top of the lake in his dressing gown and pink crocks. So Dennis and I stood looking down at the empty unhooking cradle as he got to us we both burst out laughing so much it brought tears to our eye. It was so funny Martin was fuming which made it even more funny. Martin said he would have his revenge on us.

Guys, a very big well done for these podcasts, great idea and a great concept. I enjoy all the podcasts as I like hearing other people’s stories but I really enjoy the uncut series. As far as getting our goals out there, for meany years my goal has been to learn more and catch at 30. Well it’s only bloody happened this year hasn’t it! I’m 31 years old and I’ve been fishing since 7/8 years old, not only did I catch four 30’s on my first ever trip to France at the start of the year but I also finished off the year my my first uk 30 and it was a mega one! So the natural goal for next year surly has to be a 40?
Also had a little idea for the podcast, I would like to see an everyday person as a guest sometimes for a different opinion, like one of the boys from the warehouse or even a listener? Just someone who isn’t involved in the industry but loves fishing. I think it would be a great listen, 4 blokes that are heavily involved in the industry with the opinion of someone who isn’t involved and is just working a normal 9-5 with a family.

QUESTION: how would the lads recommend a foreign angler (from say, South Africa) choose between local tactics like a feed ball with attractants on it, versus the more European tactics like PVA bags or rigs over an area of feed?
Also, have the lads incorporated any 'foreign' tactics into their own fishing and what were the results?

Confession :- So my wife said " Could I come fishing with you " !! You disappear most weekends what is the attraction " ? Well I didn't think she would come so there was a very warm sunny weekend in the weather forecast coming up and we invested in a two man bivvy . First night had a nice takeaway and caught a couple of small fish . The following morning I was up and about early tatting about sitting behind the rods and I heard " Morning ." behind me I turned to see my wife standing in front of the Bivvy in PALE BLUE PYJAMAS !! and a towel over her arm and said are there any showers , I said no please please get back in the Bivvy and get dressed NOW ! . I thought that I had got away with it but a couple of mates on the lake spotted her and being a small venue it spread around like wildfire . Later that morning Ernie the Bailiff came around and absolutely pissed himself. To this day I often get reminded of it , she has since accompanied me on most trips and we have had some great fishing adventures and holidays . Fortunately she's now fond of Camo green clothing 🤣🤣🤣 and is a very proficient angler .

    Confession time:
I used to fish a lake in the middle of a racecourse. One of the rules was that you could fish on the morning of the race day if you overnighted but had to be away for nine am. Lovely jubbely, easy peasy, Roberts your father's brother. . . . . Until one of channel four racings big lense TV cameras on a cherry picker 50ft in the air decided to zoom in on muggings here coming out of my bivvy, stretching, yawning and farting (apparently you could see when I lifted my leg). It wasn't until I turned to drain the main vain that the cameras turned away. They were doing a visual check whilst the talking heads in the studio were discussing the evening race. It went out live! It was seen by plenty of my friends but I wasn't too annoyed, i just wish that id have seen it.

My first and funniest calamity was when one fish wiped out both my rods and 3 of my mates rods and he didn’t wake up and when we woke up in the morning to play it off I said his alarms must’ve died, while saying this I had another run and I then then the fish got snagged and instead of asking for help I tried to net the fish and ended up loosing it. While having a little tantrum the guy next to me ( dunno who he was) managed to catch the fish with my rig and about 10 ft of line. So I decided to give him a hand and managed to beat my previous pb 😂

My confession. I was on embryo roughs this year, only one on the lake. I had a nice 27lb common the night before and it went dead in morning. Being the only one on I grabbed and rod and a net and went lapping for shows. As I was walking down one side I heard something bosh out on the other said of the island. I went running down the bank to try and get eyes on it and jsut managed to see where the rings were disappearing. I got round to the lookout swim, and cast a single pop up out to where I thought the show was, I popped the rod on the floor jsut as my phone rang. I was chatting away to the Mrs when the rod ripped off, in the act of trying to put my phone away I’ve missed my pocket and dropped kicked my phone in to the lake, stumbled and fell one legged in to the lake. Picking up the rod with one hand and trying to rummage for my phone with the other all the while the water getting cloudier and cloudier. I managed to find my phone but lost the fish. Merry Christmas

    Confession.
I was fishing an old quarry I’d discovered had a few old carp in that no one really knew about. I’d also just bagged myself a stunning girlfriend who was coming down to meet me at the said quarry. Unfortunately due to the overwhelming excitement and the law of sod it was the one day I had to evacuate my bowels, which I did with eye watering relief next to a near by bush. Feeling better I continued to catapult out more bait and cast out the rods and wait for the mrs or a carp.
After a few hours or so and no fish the mrs had arrived with her yampy dog.
I span round with a welcoming smile which soon weakened as her dog had made a beeline round the side of the bush I’d visited earlier that day. After a mad tug of war between dog and owner I watched the dog appear with some tissue poking out the side of its mouth. it seemed the chocolate lab had found my chocolate slab and had fully indulged. The smell was extreme as it had been given time to ripen in the midday sun.
Pretending to be disgusted, I comforted her and told her that there are some dirty b******s around these days. She never came to visit me down the quarry again after that.

    My confession
Me and the missus was on a 48hour session once and she couldn’t hit this one particular spot tight up against an island she tried and tried but still couldnt do it, so being the loving caring boyfriend I am I say “pass me your rod babe I’ll show you how it’s done” I clipped up the rod, went to cast out and slipped on the bank as I cast, chucked her rod in the lake and fell in the lake myself.! the margin was quite deep and I didn’t have spare cloths with me! Funnily enough I hit the spot she was trying to get and after retrieving the rod out of the lake she left it in the same spot and caught her pb.! And I blanked that session 🤦🏼‍♂️ 😅

My biggest fishing blunder... went to Belgium with @fishwithcarl and on the second day dropped my brand new phone in the lake..... jumped in to save it (took my trousers down didn't want them to get wet) next thing I know I have 4 cameras filming me in my wet boxers. It's in his video. Anyway get to the end of the trip with a dead phone put all my gear in the car close the boot go to say by to the lads. Only to realize I had locked my keys in my car in the middle of nowhere in Belgium with a tunnel crossing to get to. So ended up having to break a window with a bivvy peg and a chopping board. Fair to say could have gone better. Ontop of that I went there to catch Carp and got everything but grass carp, 4 different varieties of sturgeon pike the lot. Oh well atleast I can forget about it. Oh wait it's on UA-cam

Not a confession but an amusing story, was on a day fishing session with Father-in-law, Brother-in-law and my Son, it was a moist day we were on a lake with a sloping bank get up to reel in and recast a rod and slipped on the bank and fell to the floor, as I am rolling towards the lake trying to grab onto any cluster of grass to stop the roll to a chorus of laughing never mind saving me drowning as I am not the strongest swimmer, into the lake I go and luckily the margin was only waist deep, no change of clothes and plastic bags on my feet with sopping wet trainers to drive home in 😂😢

    My confession
While fishing my local lake I have waited years for a ticket for I’d found a lovely swim, commanded a nice spot of water and because of the layout nobody close to me.
One evening a couple of blokes having beers sent a bait boat round the top of my swim and dropped their rig effectively in my water
I called up my inner Karen and went over to where they were saying bait boats aren’t allowed and that they’re wandering out of their swim. I was greeted with calls of noddy and told to go away with a capital F. Muttering to myself I returned to my swim to sulk.
At around 2 am I’m awake and see a blinking light float across my swim and rage hits
I get the waders on while watching where the boat goes. Because the moon is bright I get a pretty good idea on mateys “spot” I sit for 2 hours seething I then take action. I SAS my way around to the margin he’s dumped his rig climb in the water and using my light can see his rig (water is clear) it’s too deep for me to reach so I climb out run back to my swim and get my net release it from the pole and fit my rake to the end I return to the invading rig gently use the rake to snag the hook link crouch in the bushes and start yanking in the rig
I can hear his alarm scream but before he hits the rod the hook bait is out the water I take my scissors and cut the link leaving a length of line and hook wrapped in my rake I run back round as quietly as I can and make it to my swim to hear, “F**K sake it’s snapped me off”
    I’m not even sorry

My biggest confession was 2 years ago Christmas Day me the misses and kids all had Christmas dinner with the plan of driving up to my mum and dad’s for the evening. Now at this point the misses is dragging her feet didn’t really fancy it, in the end I got out of her go fishing. The car was loaded before she could change her mind. On the way out the house she said remember I’ve got work in the morning make sure you’re home for the kids. Yes no worries babe of course. Got to Aldenham lake absolutely Baltic conditions. Settings it in the dark happy as Larry. Set up got the rods out, now got my chest waders on to put my back leads on. Stepped on to a boulder and it rolled before I knew it I was head first into the lake chest wader’s filling up. Panicking managed to pull myself out of the water. Shivering absolutely froze solid I decided I’ve got to ring the Mrs to come pick me up. At that point I worked out my phone was in my pocket. I couldn’t get home because the bottle of Baileys I bought for the boilers is now been drunk and I was over the limit to drive the phone was absolutely Mullard and wasn’t working I had to strip down and luckily enough I had a pair of longjohns I love this in the car to change into. So bearing in mind consequently no phone couldn’t drive I sat in my favourite with my stove on all night trying to keep yourself warm. Must’ve fallen asleep missed getting home for the kids the missus went to work at the time I woke up. I had to drive down to the shop so explain what happened. Walked in there like a drowned rat still shivering from the night before and lucky enough she was working. Because in our eyes I can see she wanted to absolutely throttle me.

This is my Confession about a trip to one of the best carp lakes in France which shall remain nameless. The content of this confession is quite personal, and involves the venue bailiff, who should also remain nameless, but we will refer to him here as the Grand Fromage! The lake in question is in the Champagne region, is around 35 acres in size and has the most beautiful blue coloured water. It also contained carp of gigantic proportions. The bailiff, a big man in both stature and standing, I took to him instantly. We spent the first part of the week chatting about fishing related stuff , and I found out we were of a similar age, both from Essex, and had many mutual friends. I can't describe exactly what i was feeling about the Grand Fromage, it was a bit strange. One of the days was particularly hot, I was sitting in my swim with the Grand fromage and he suggested we have a swim to cool down. As he stripped down to his boxers I was in awe of some of his striking tattoos. Anyway, we went armed with a lilo, him on one side, me on the other and we paddled out into the cooling waters of the lake. It was then at that moment about 50 wraps out in the crystal clear cooling water when our eyes met across the lilo that I worked out what the feelings were that I was having. I fancied him and he fancied me. I cannot go into much more detail here for obvious reasons, but let's just say that it was a trip of a lifetime. I achieved a few personal bests without catching a fish. Unfortunately the said bailiff is home now and no longer works at the lake. I have tried to rekindle the carpy connection but have failed up to now. The moments we spent walking round the lake holding hands will live with me forever.
