Lived there for 15 years! A very special place unlike any other out there! Have desires to retire in north county someday. Was around from 1997 onward. Saw the wharf burn down...glad it was rebuilt! Seafood every month at Brophys! Got my last final bite at Deanos pizza on the mesa before it died....it was a legend! Surfing from Ledbetter all the way down to rincon.loved palace grill! Rincon red ale at SB brewing! Lived on Valerio DT then la cumbre then out in encanto heights in Goleta! Wow i could go on and on! Great memories!
that's so damn smart to close the street to traffic and have all that outdoor seating to keep the restaurants and shops thriving. Other quaint towns around the country should take note. Yes . . your town is beautiful. Even better than I remember from my last visit a couple decades ago.
Love this particular video. Santa Barbara is indeed a great place to visit. But I just need to say I love the snippets of conversation you record as you walk around. Sometimes those overheard conversations are bizarre or funny or evocative. (Sometimes all at once! 👍)
Planning a surprise trip for my beautiful gf of 5 years. Her bday is next month hopefully we get to go. I was born in Santa Maria, haven't been that way in too long.
Beautiful place. I live in London, it's a great city but I want to relocate. The places in Cali that I love most are LA, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Corona Del Mar, Santa Barbara, San Francisco and Redwood City.
You can't go wrong with the O.C. it's beautiful from Huntington Beach going south to Dana Point. I myself would love to move to Newport Beach/corona del mar.
I think a remake of this video in the future after the panicdemic is over and things return to a more stable and happier environment...and no masks!. Sta Barbara is a very nice, even beautiful city and is vibrant in a laid back kind of way and that is what I want to see again.
We used to go to SB a lot when we lived in Southern California. It's been a dozen years since we've been back. The last time we were there, the homeless were starting to become a problem. Some would shout insults at anyone and others started using planters as restrooms. The aroma was terrible. Hope they have come up with the necessary services to help these people and allow Santa Barbara continue to reach it's full potential.
🍎 given the number of Covid cases in California I’m a bit shocked to see so many people out socializing in public spaces. Definitely a beautiful and fancy town and a wonderful walk. Thanks so much. - H
If you were to come back to Santa Barbara, you should record this one trail that leads you to a cliff called the More measa. It haves a wonderful beach below and you can see UCSB in the distance, including Goleta beach. If you go on September tho or kinda around that month you will get a very very good aesthetic sunsets.
I’ve always wanted to see Santa Barbara. Idk too much about the history but years ago I saw couple of photos of it by the ocean and I saw how cute and lovely it was that I wanted to live there. Is it as expensive as San Francisco?? That’s where I’m from. But I’m in Texas presently. In 5 yrs time my family would love to move back to California. Hopefully by then houses will be more affordable?! Hey I can dream 😴 I miss the ocean 🌊 terribly. :( Hopefully someone knowledgeable can respond and let me know.
Santa Barbara is one of the nicest towns in America. We stopped there on our honeymoon vacation and noticed a homeless guy who had nicer luggage than we did. Took us a while to realize he wasn't a guest at the hotel!
dam right. One guy yelled us at me and my kids for not giving him money. Freaking ridicilous dump. I would get arrested jaywalking but these people walk free harassing people.
We really do not want tourists coming to SB right now. We ha e Covid cases and they have closed down half of our city again because of tourists. Bars theaters and get me were opened and then shut down again. Outdoor dining downtown is a out to get nailed as well. There will be a other lockdown soon, and thsts fue to people not stsying away. The footage is from our Tuesday farmers market. It's not like this other days.
Many thanx for that tour of State Street. I love that town, even tho a certain courtyard bar's marguritas have caused breakups. You might also want to consider Naples, FL. Tho much smaller, it's just as chick. And Key West: larger, but not as chick.
Santa Barbara merchants these wide open walkways with outdoor seating are beautiful and great for our Covid world. Please remember there are people that have disabilities who want to visit and spend money. We went in June for 5 days and the streets were blocked off. There was no handicapped parking. It seems to me a simple fix to mark some handicapped spaces. I noted no other other ways to access like shuttles, scooters or bike rentals. Thank you for listening.😍
You've got it, Juliette! By closing off SB's main street to auto traffic, no one has any idea what's ON State Street. For persons with disabilities, this is a total deal-breaker. Unfortunately, SB's City Council only sees $$$ brought about by turning the streets and sidewalks over to the restaurateurs, who now get to use all that space for free, without paying any extra taxes or fees.
@@rexdell4170 That's too bad. It was so sad to see so many closed businesses and open restaurants with no patrons. I can't wait to go back but we won't be headed downtown. Note all the healthy walkers in the video, you don't see any people with mobility issues. Thank you for responding.
Great videography... not so great Santa Barbara! The beautiful city was in a slow decline way before COVIDISM took hold. Note in this video the only seating on the street is provided by bars and restaurants... because of the rising homeless situation the city took away all the nice bench seats, whether it was done just to remove the homeless from the sight of locals and tourists, or whether it was to also remove the elderly who do not patronize the expensive State Street stores is any ones guess. But you do not see many elderly people who enjoyed getting someone to sit. There were also plenty of vacant stores on State Street before 2020, that Amazon and on-line shopping put an end to. What with the fires and the floods, mother nature also played its part in just how things have changed dramatically in this iconic seaside town!
Julio Ortega didn’t know if you lived under a rock. But there’s a pandemic going on. And it’s not helping our county’s health if people from other cities and states keep visiting.

@@hnrmrymr476 It's kinda bad but not as bad as they are saying. I am born and raised here and although it's a problem, it's nothing like LA or some of those bigger cites. I got a thing about Malibu but I never hear anyone talk about it, apart from when it's being burned down in the yearly fires.
Please don't call it Cali. Only street thugs and wannabe gangstas call it Cali. Cali is in Colombia. Thank you.

Cali is not as bad as they want you to believe. Research it for your self. Cali is safe and should be fully reopened.
Thank you. Great video. Have you done one of Ojai?
We just had a Noreasters yesterday in Boston.....I'd much rather live in Santa Barbara

What did the red & yellow banners/flags represent?
Spanish flag. Spaniards were first settlers.

No like seriously COVID is so bad do not come here
We have too many cases here and its due to tourists coming here even after they were told to stay away.
