Wow very innovative. I have been referring to this channel at least 10 times over the recent history. What I like about all these charts is the ability to present multiple pieces of related information in a single visualization. And I have deep admiration about how Jon looked at a chart he found intuitive and then gradually perfected it - a true work of a master craftsman.
@Excel Campus - Jon --- this is top class stuff man! Really great! Starred, liked, loved! Woot woot! Super stuff Jon. Thanks man! Appreciate this video! Cherian from Abu Dhabi
0:22 mine is a simple one... There's a class full of students There are 4 subjects M, P, C, Z Every 2 or three days there's a test on the above subjects. (dates are available) We need to capture how each student progress in each subject. Additionally we need to capture how each student perform in comparison to other. Students & subjects are constant. But number of tests are dynamic, meaning we need to add more test results as time progresses. Max mark in each sub is 180, so max total marks is 720. First I am confused 😕 how to put this data in the excel sheet, then type of chart 📊 to use to capture this data 😢... Any help would be appreciated 😊
Hi Jon, Thanks for the amazing video, great inspiration! I have a question, though. In chart 7 (7:24) how on earth do you conditionally format the variance chart to switch between red/green? Do you invert colors if negative, in the formatting options? And you have made the width of the variance column a bit larger, do I understand correctly?
Hi Jon! I have a vision for a chart that I would like to create but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to go about it. I would like to create a chart/graph to show all providers within a single practice along with their corresponding values month over month. I've created dynamic charts before to show individual practices or providers but I'm not sure on how to go about my vision for this new chart. Thank you in advance.
Awesome Jon! Your links to the tutorials for the charts featured in the video almost constitute a charting mini-course. Thanks for sharing all these great tips and features. Looking forward to digging into each one in more detail. Thumbs up!!
Wayne, thanks for the reminder to check out the other chart videos. You are right about them being a mini-course. They leave you eager for more chart video's
Hi there! Thanks for adding super video on charts. I have quick question! I have multiple sitee, each site having 5 different values in 5 coulmns pertians to 2012, the same sites are also have another 5 coulmns with different values pertains 2013. H Ho
this is my first time here. thank you so much for the amazing advanced charts. Im really interested in Actual vs. Multiple Targets Chart. Hope you will make a video to use this kinda amazing chart.
Jon I have to compare data from three different cities over three years, do I need to do one chart for each year or is there a way to show all three years on one chart? thanks
Hi Can you create chart which has multiple location A, B, C, D, E.. and quarter 1,2,3,4 and sales and number of invoices. In one chart i need the sales value along with count of invoice for 5 locations 4 quarters
HI Jon. I have tried to download the workbook - when I click onto the link it has installed WinZip system tools but I still don't have the file? AM I doing something wrong? Love your videos! Thank you, Louise
I want to create a breakeven analysis chart. Which I did. Now need to know how to highlight the area between sales and total cost line “where the profit begins”. And also color the area “of loss” with another color
I would love a charts course that covered step by step for all these charts and techniques! Sign me up when you offer it Beautiful charts with useful features Jon
Hi Grainne, we do have Elevate Excel course which is a comprehensive (beginner-to-advanced) online training program that covers everything you need to drastically improve your Excel skills, save tons of time with your job, and become the Excel Hero of the office. You may join us by following this link www.excelcampus.com/join-elevate/
I should have mentioned that our Elevate program does not cover all of these charts yet. However, I think it's a great idea and will add this to the list for future program updates. We do have a section in the program on charts, dashboards, and data visualization principles that covers more of the basic chart types and when to use them.
@@ExcelCampus thanks for the link. By your site's definition, I fall in the Excel master category - I would never use that term. I am hoping you will offer an advanced charts stand alone course. Your charts display the data so clearly, simply and are pleasing to the eye.
I'm not sure which charts would be the best, but I'm analysing 6500 lands sold in cottage country near me in Montreal Quebec. Lands are all types and sizes. I've selected the residential ones and multiple pivot tables for different size categories. I'm looking at average size, sale price and $ per SF for each of these categories and wondering how best to display them in charts. I'd love to get some help to take them to the next level
This was great but How do I resize the the chart border without donut and text box automatically resizing? My chart are too far apart because I have so much empty space between the border and the doughnut. But when I resize the height and the width of the border to reduce the empty space , the doughnut gets smaller too.
Thanks for the video, charts and ideas look amazing. I followed the link in the description but this resulted in me receiving an email from your side containing other material than the charts files. How can I receive the file containing these charts?
@@ExcelCampus Thank you for your response. I did, and I received and email with a zip file containing the book and an excel sheet, but it was not about the contents of this video, the material was much more for beginners rather than the level in the video.
I'm sorry about this. We're looking into the issue. Here is a link to the download. www.excelcampus.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/10-Advanced-Excel-Charts.xlsx I hope that helps. Thanks again and have a nice weekend! 🙂
Wow, your video was the best thing since my coffee this morning! I now have a real idea of possibilities. Thanks. I have two projects which I need to create charts for currently, one to track our video gaming team players and their performance growth. Also, I produce major community concerts, I'm working on 2023 sponsorship prospectus, I need to chart the specifics demographic for three states. I would love to have something condensed and pretty. Do you have any suggestions on the best charts to use for these two scenarios?
Can we make expandable charts based on timeline? For example i want to see monthly sch vs. supply data and when i goto to any month it expands and shows that month graph?
Hi Khoi, Thank you for the suggestion and feedback. We do have videos for some of the charts and blog posts for all of them. Here is a link to the post with all the links to each tutorial. www.excelcampus.com/tools/zoom-on-excel-charts/ However, we will add videos on the others in the future. I hope that helps. Thanks again and have a nice day! 🙂
Hi, Saw your tutorial on Actual vs Target Charts that was great learning. I have a query, if I have say 3 nos. of criteria bars is it possible to overlap just two of them.
Hey, could you please make a video on the Annual Trend and Monthly details graph. All these graphs are so so good. I’ve tried to look for this Trend graph video, but i couldn’t find it. And then I found your website and could not understand how to make it from your written tutorial either. It would really be so helpful if you could make a video on it! Hoping that you will soon! ❤
Also, I really want to thank you for opening this whole world for us average users. This really amazed me and opened my mind about how to present the data I have.
Hi Not Comfortable! 😀 You can download the workbook on that monthly-average-vs-current-year page on the Excel Campus website to follow along with that tutorial. Feel free to change the data to suit your needs. Hope that helps! 😊
Hi, thank you for the beautiful video, I'm interested in "Comparative Distribution Chart" and " Stacked Bar with Dynamic Data Labels". Greetings from Rome, Italy. Ciao.
Thank you Carlo. I appreciate the nice feedback and it's good to know the ones you are interested in. There are links in the description where you can learn more about those charts. Thanks again and have a nice day! 🙂
Great question! Yes, it's possible. We don't have a tutorial yet, but here's a short answer to get you started. You can make the sheet "read only" by protecting it. Right-click the tab and select Protect Sheet. If your dashboard has slicers that you want to remain interactive for the user, then there are a few additional steps. First, right-click the slicer and select Size and Properties. Then expand the Properties section in the task pane and uncheck the Locked checkbox. Next, on the Protect sheet window, check the Use Autofilter checkbox. This will keep the slicers interactive, but will NOT allow the user to move the chart or make changes to the sheet. You can also lock/unlock specific cells if you want the user to be able to select from a drop-down in a cell or input values. I love this question and I'll add this to our list for future videos. Thanks again and have a nice day! 🙂
After two years of releasing this video i'm really so much appreciated the knowledge you always providing to your followers... thank you Jon.
