I honestly felt the same way after the first listen. Now im about 5 listens in. This album is nothing short of incredible. And it could possibly be Nas best mic performance of the 5 albums. Im crazy impressed how this album sounds nothing like the rest. Salute bro!
Bokeem Woodbine is actor. Started in a movie from the 90's "Clockers"( A Spike Lee Joint). Last I saw him was on the Wu Tang series on Hulu. Good review.
This project really showcases Hit-Boy’s production. Nas is rapping like hes 25 still isn’t new but wtf was Hit-Boy listening to when he made this???? 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The album is special. Just listen to it while looking at Lost tapes 1 album cover or Stillmatic album cover. Keep listening to this album while looking at those albums covers and you'll be like... Goddamn. This is dope A..F. but the problem is. That some people inmedially as soon as Nas drop an album. They expecting Illmatic or KD3. This is a MAGIC album. A magic album is an warm-up to what's coming next. I'm pretty sure Nas and hit boy have something big coming in the next couple months from now
@@daytwan the more you listen to it your mind changes, I felt the same way when I listened to it on a Livestream when it drop, then I listen to it on my own a second and third time, my mind changes.
Nice takes. I enjoyed the album but that track had such little 50 Cent on it I actually resequenced it and posted it on my page. Nas feat. 50 Cent - Office Hours ("More 50" Southside Mix). Blasphemous I know. It's for the people who did exactly what you did lol. Overall It's interesting over the whole series to hear Nas over so much 'trap', since he's been rapping in doubletime off and on since I Am. I always say you can make an amazing underground album AND an amazing trap album by taking tracks from all 5 Nas/Hit collabs. That Marvin Gaye Trouble Man sample is what I want to hear Nas on...that vibe. I think Nas is best on jazz but he goes into that bag so little compared to soul and trap, and generally uptempo tracks like "Motion" make him sound so alive. Nothing as amazing as "Ugly" or the Premier-clone "Wave Gods" but still great to have Nas putting out material, which, frankly, mediocre artists with low quality-control do all the time, but very rare an artist of his caliber release so often 👑
Dope review. Gotta sit down with this project more this weekend, but I also give it a 7/10 through two thorough listens. That 7 could easily turn to 8 after the weekend, because I have to see if songs like Black Magic and Bookeem Woodbine, which are a'ight tracks, grow on me more. Sonically, Hit-Boy experimented more here, and got in his trap-drum bag. I prefer the boom bap of Magic to this project. Fav songs: Motion, Office Hours (despite that way too short 50 Cent verse); Earvin Magic Johnson and Pistols on Your Album Cover. Would rank this album behind KD3, KD2 and Magic, but ahead of the original KD.
everyone wanted more from fif. conversely, I wanted Em to cut his verse in half on EPMD 2. he just started with his nonsense towards the end of his verse on EPMD. When Rare came on after, the relief I felt was incredible.
Expectation is the reason you feel that way, i like the fact that it went totally 360 away from the original Magic. that's the genius of Nas he consistently finds different bags to display his shit in this new digital age, This man is 50 every album cant be illmatic like in order to keep him engaged.
The one thing I will say about hitboi beats for Nas, is that I dont like the kicks and snares, they sound old. a producer can have the same bpm and melodies or synths, but come on, choosing the type of kick or snare to use, should be easy.
Illmatic vs. Magic 2 1: Ny State of Mind > Abracadabra. 1-0 2: Life's a Bitch < Office Hours 1-1 3: The World is Yours > Black Magic 2-1 4: Halftime < Motion 2-2 5: Memory Lane > Bokeem Woodbine 3-2 6: One Love < Earving Magic Johnson 3-3 7: One Time For Your Mind < What This All Really Means. 3-4 8: Represent > Slow It Down 4-4 9: It Aint Hard To Tell < Pistols On Your Album Covers 4-5 4-5 Magic 2 wins. Pay attention to it carefully.
@@daytwan Do the math like I did. I came with receipts so you can't deny it. Nas and hit boy next album will top them all. They are flowing like water. Nas at 50 and practicing his craft is non stop levels past Illmatic. Get it in your system. Its ok. A master at work makes new and better swords always, when hes a master perfecting his craft.
@@daytwan I had to do the math cause I thought I was trippin', but as a music producer for 20 years, I know my ear and my intuition told me upon the 2nd listen. My mind couldn't believe it. So I went to calculate, and the music doesn't lie.
Good album but def a step down from the previous 3 imo. Hit Boys production is a downgrade from Magic 1 and the last 2 KD albums. Nas himself seemed uninspired compared to KD3 and I feel like this one didn’t have those crazy bars or outstanding stories we all know and love Nas for. It’s certainly not a bad album, but has to be the weakest of the 5 albums with HB.
Disagree! The production on Magic 2 is better than Magic. Also, Nas can have fun too. He’s given us crazy bars and stories for days. Also, five projects and several features in three years. Give that man a break and let him vibe out! Y’all are never satisfied and won’t allow Nas to step outside his pocket and try new things! 🙄

Thanks for watching! Maybe Magic 2 will grow on me like KDIII did
Gotta appreciate Nas dropping anything at this point of his career. This album is inspiring for MCs Nas the goat.
Yea most MCs at his age barely so features let alone 5 quality albums in 3 years
This album keeps getting better and better the more I listen to it. Album of the year so far for me!!
