I am not familiar with H.O.T. back then and I only learned about them only recently but after listening to their music, I got hooked and ended up searching for 90s kpop. Now I'm enjoying Backstreet Boys and H.O.T. songs.
H.O.T did have a Fan Club in the U.S.A. and even shot a music video there, I am pretty sure. It was a episode I think. But I think the reason why 90s kpop wasn't as popular in America was because remember the internet was just invented/new. The only way you would really know about 90s kpop back then is if you were in a friend group with some Asians who listened to it or you watched a Asian tv channel. My mom listened to 90s kpop back in her high school days and still does. (1995 - 1998) So if you didn't have any of these you wouldn't really neccesarily know about what pop culture was in Korea back then.
90s kpop was extremely popular in America but mainly in large cities and the coasts (cali, ny) whereas now it's widespread. The internet I think was brand new in 1992/93 because I remember by 1998 we had forums and websites dedicated to kpop. Soompi, breezetenz, bjunkyard, solid07 just to name a few.
They were cute and adorable as young teenagers and 20 somethings and NOW they are still cute and adorable in spirit ( their current looks are bad either, they just need more rest and sleep.)
Kpop back then they still sing live, I respect Hot although they not good as BSB, now days kpop is very popular because of their dancing ablities, MV production is top tier and great live stage, but they are lacking power vocals and live singing. Bts will not last 20 years like BSB
i agree... bts and other kpop groups wil not last because they dont focus on quality of the songs and vocals.. once they aged they will b gone forever.....
H.o.t debut 1996 after 2pac shot and backstreet debut 1997 after before biggie's second album "life after death" was released 16 days after he was murdered fun fact jennie saw born on jan 16 1996 rose was born on feb 11 1997 lisa was born march 27 1997
Its crazy to look back in 1996 when bsb came to korea they are the most famous boyband in the world and the korean guys was nothing back in the day, after two decades the korean guy like bts was dominated the music world and the most famous boyband today and make 45m views in youtube in just 1 day.
Those “Korean guys” were actually really famous in Korea, they had crazy fans, and they were the first kpop idol group, first kpop group to win an MTV American award in 1999, and they were pretty popular in America
@@bts_paved_the_way_for_all7156 they’re right, h.o.t. Where very very popular and had crazy fans, just cause you don’t know them like that don’t mean that they aren’t ppopular, and they had da clubs and America as well, the ey had people almost killing girls cause of dating rumores and everything, BTS literally covered a H.O.T. song as well and they look up to H.O.T so it’s weird that you’re saying this as a bts fan
But obviously you came on here tryin to be “funny” but also, H.O.T was also a closing act for Michael Jackson and had a feature with a rapper on their 2nd album on the song “tragedy” but yeah I really wanted to say it’d be weird for you to be dissing H.O.T and being a BTS fan
