You will be amazed to find that as GDP improves, so too does the Dow index. This is what a noted statistician as yourself might term "a direct correlation". If you wish to argue that Economic conditions have no impact on how the Dow performs, I have a number of Economics textbooks that I'd be willing to share with you to enlighten you.
