Hi, Nora and Lena. Wow, so much content in just one video (btw, it was 480p for me, so not a problem). Shame about the detector problem, I hope it was just the headphones. Congrats on the 100yo diamond find. Coincidentally, I'd rewatched another video of you & Lena a few days ago from back in 2020 when you found the Tiffany & Co bracelet with the 4 small diamonds, and here you are still finding them. Would be interested to know how many carats the stone is.

Hey Nora, nice location, one of my bucket list locations. Well done on the ring and other finds it's always an adventure. But, I don't know how long you have had that particular detector but I tend to roll mine over every 2 years or so as they do get fatiqued, i.e cables wear and seals do eventually let in salt water etc. It is a very harsh environment, and the ocean and the sun and salt water will take it's toll. So maybe a new machine is in order as this is exactly what happened to me with my first 2 Excal's, so that is why I tend to get a new one every couple of years.
This was a awesome trip by the looks of it, well done.
Be safe and Happy Hunting, Get a new machine and don't stop your adventures by having a broken detector.

Hey Nora, great find!!! That is one heck of a diamond ring, big congrats on that. Love the video too. Im sorry to see your detector is acting up. I was trying to tell your buddy @Goldendives in another video where you two were in, to be careful when diving and pulling on those headphone wires. It will cause them to short out at the endcap or at the earcup. I've fixed many Excals over the years with that problem. Hopefully you can get it taken care of. Good luck.
Thank you! Now I'm staring think it's not from the headphones.. I recently got my coil replaced and I have a feeling they didn't seal it back up properly 😭
@@NoraSvet Oh no...if you see moisture in the tube, that is not good. Immediately pull the battery, take it apart and clean it if you can. Who ever replaced the coil should have pressure tested it though so assuming they did and it was good then the coil itself could be bad. Hard to say but I really hope you get it fixed soon.
I loved the deep blue azure colors you picked up with your camera work in the grotto. It was nice to see you feeding the reef fish. I also enjoyed seeing the Exuma airport and airplane photography. Nice work with the camera and editing.

I kinda wish you'd contact some academic institutions doing underwater archaeology, and go swimmy swims with them. It'd be fun video project to see you helping advance our understanding of the past, and, maybe, perhaps help find some really super interesting things, plus, I bet you could teach them a thing or two about working underwater, and, maybe learn a new skill or way of looking and hunting for things.
Of course, you couldn't keep anything for yourself on an academic gig, but, it could certainly be an experience, not only for you, but, for us watching your adventures, living through you vicariously. :)
I think there might be an underwater archaeology site in the islands where a whole pirate city was tumbled into the sea and washed away in a matter of hours from an earthquake ... the 1692 Port Royal earthquake in Jamaica. The area is probably already picked over like crazy, but, it might be fun to have some history associated episodes where you dive historical disater areas like Satorini, Port Royal, Pompeii/Herculaneum coastal areas, Carthage, and maybe even rivers and lakes close to ancient places or events of interest? :)
Wow, incredible find on the ring. Never fails to surprise me that people will take jewelry like that out on water excursions. I'm sure it was very frustrating for the detector to malfunction, and of all places no doubt. Still, you made a great adventure out of it.

Thank you for the video Nora. I've been to the Bahamas many times, stayed at the New Cable Beach Hotel and stayed on Paradise Island before they even put Atlantis up. The bahamians are very friendly people I definitely go back for another vacation there

I had the same issues. Took a couple hours, but it’s finally at 720p
Tap on the screen and click on the little settings icon on the top right of the screen.....click on video quality then click on advanced.....then select whatever quality that works best with your phone.........if you have poor reception, youtube will automatically select a lower quality so it can stream un interrupted......this video was automatically set on 480 on mine so I selected 1080p.........its easy....hope that helps

Well I'm guessing you're ok from the cat bite. My friend just got cat scratch fever...again. It took her a year to recover from it the last time. Feral cats can carry some wicked diseases, including one (Toxoplasma gondii) that can kill whitetail deer. Those swimming pigs may seem fairly docile but they know how to use those tusks. Swimming with those sharks was probably the safest thing you did. Great ring find! The gentleman told you how old it was but did he mention how much it might be worth? Looks like you and Ms Lena had a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing this adventure.

"If it was a 100yo setting it would be worn out" . Well maybe or maybe not,it could have sat at the back of a jewelry box for decades,some rich lady/s ignored great gramma's ring for higher dollar ones then GreatGreatGD saw it,liked it,and lost it on vaca. Like an old car,it just might be low miles.You might get a second opinion and ask about the setting style as well as the diamond cut style. I don't know but Antiques Roadshow might be a knowlegable place to take your fav finds,and,the snippet of your appraisals would make a cool addition to a video. It might be too late to get tickets for this years' schedule but you are young,plenty of years left!

Nurse sharks generally don't bite unless aggravated or you try to place your hand near their mouth with food, in which case getting nipped is pretty common.

We honeymooned on Exuma back in 78. Still my fav vacation of all. We stayed at Peace And Plenty. Don’t know how close that is to your place or pig is. Love love love this place. We did scuba the reef and across the bay at Stocking island.

Amazing find and video! That diamond is well over 1 carat and looks very clean. It would have been nice if the jeweler you took it to gave you an estimated carat weight for it.
Thank you! They said they would have to take the diamond out of the setting and weigh it/ test the clarity in order to get an estimated value on that. Maybe I'll have them do it one day😃
@@NoraSvet They could have measured it with a digital caliper and compared it with charts to give you an estimated weight. If it is 7mm wide, then it's atleast 1.25ct diamond.
@@NoraSvet they can actually calculate it pretty close for carats by measuring the table , diameter, amount of facets. Keep us posted. Take it to a jeweler you can trust. It might be worth getting certified if it doesn't have alot of inclusions.
Dive the southwest side of the island for a great dive with wild reef sharks! Every dive we did over there had them!
