Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley: The Plight of Island Nations Is Dire Climate Warning for U.S.

- Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, who has emerged as a fierce critic of the international community’s inaction on the climate crisis, warned that the urgent climate risks facing island nations like hers are also affecting big nations like the U.S.
“While we in the islands are the canaries, you are soon going to be the victims of that. Which country is hit by a hurricane every year, do you know? The United States. Every year, it’s just different states,” Mottley told TIME CEO and editor in chief Edward Felsenthal Tuesday June 7 at the TIME100 Summit in New York City.

So very proud of my Prime Minister !she is so intelligent and fearless ,telling the World leaders like it is.
She talks about climate change as though it is a developed world issue, yet the developing world is emitting far more green house gasses than the developed world. The developed world does not have the resourses to stop that from happening.

That's why her speeches are a waste of time and will be fruitless but it is why so many people who identify as her people love her because she says the stuff they want to hear.

Barbados yes it hit every year with hurricanes and title waves threats. Thank u mia for going inside the real problems and exposing those problems that people cant see.
She needs the best security and body guards on the planet. Don't eat anything you don't know its' origin, have a security look over your food preparation.
Barbados diplomats and head of states don't need security. The country is quite safe

I think the real issue with the Island Nations is Education. The only island I see that has it together is Grenada (and it's not because of Spice Mas or Bree Days - yah!). It would be interesting hear from them at this summit.
