- Monokell Video:
one of the most powerful figures of that decade: Bad Brains throat HR!
as the Bad Brains broke up he sadly only played Reggaemusic. and this is the hardest song from the whole gig.
but, man, what kind of power he even spread by this slow & religous music.
HR was my man of the 80s!
on drums his brother & ex Bad Brain Earl.
Hannover,Bad
not sure about date, think it was 1989
HR at the peak of his powers. The whole band is sounding phenomenal. What a show!
Earl’s drumming is simply irreplaceable
Skitch is my dad. if he were still here with us he would say thank you for the love and support. Vinnie Vision is my uncle and he says thank you too. Seeing this is so amazing.
i met Skitch back in 2005 when he played with HR in Richmond VA - he was such a cool, kind, funny, humble, inspiring person - and his guitar playing was unbelievable.... much respect to you and your dad - we won't forget him
2:18
djcarlito Thank you so much. You saw one of his last shows I wish I had been there too but I was 11. I was only allowed to go to steel pulse shows to hang out haha
+Rachel Lovett I first met your father in 1985 when he was the sound man for The Mighty Simba! If they played somewhere that had their own sound man he would play lead. He was very laid back and approachable. Very humble to be as gifted as he was. That band was easily the most unique band to come out of Hampton Roads. It didn't hurt that Vinnie was on bass! I am sure you have heard their music.
He was a great man but I wasn't introduced to his music while he was alive except for his work with dionne farris from what I can remember. nonetheless every person that has enjoyed what he and the bands have created make the loss easier because I have people like you to remind me that he was more than a musician and a Dad, he was a genius. Thank you so much for the kind words.
Skitch was amazing. In those times, I used to move with Joseph I (HR) with the 12 tribes of Israel and Skitch would just be there. Always positive and he had serious chips in the guitar! His work on the Our Faith album is incredible!!!
why the hell this isn't on a DVD yet ???this is absolutely amazing performance!! Hail H.R.!!!!
I was there, making it happen. Beautiful combination of Vinnie and Skitch, I even remember seeing Earl really enjoying how they were communicating with each and able to play with the support of structure of the composition. Beautiful memories
I was there. But this concert was May 02nd '90 Hannover in bad/Herrenhauser garden. AWESOME !!! 👍-shame in dem game -
where bob marley left us H.R. picked up and took it up even more
I really miss the energy H.R. had back in the day. Bad Brains shows were so amazing. A group of ten of us would go every year they came to Tampa. It was some of the greatest times.
I will watch this over and over again forever.
Thank you and bless you stereopaul1
...saw BB on Quickness Tour for my 21st B-Day! Best show I ever saw!
possibly the best HR video I have ever seen, man.... life was so good back then !!
This whole performance was so amazing and passionate...from around 7:30 till the end it always hits me straight in the feelings and I vibe out so deeply everytime!
What a blissful rhythm guitar!
I’m sorry but I keep watching this video over and over, and I keep getting hung up on your comments in the description about this being “only slow religious music” you really should correct that this band is on fire!
HR c'est une légende.
1990. I was the Tour Mgr. Thanks for this!!
Was this just for the European tour or did you do the left coast tour when my buddies in Scaterd Few were the back up band shit, I guess it could have been Ron and Al from Flower or Those Amazing Insects whatever they were calling themselves at that point.
Charge is such a great record. This lineup is killer.
I must've watched this video 100 times. Incredible live performance. I'm opening for HR tomorrow night in Atlantic City, NJ and although it won't be quite like this show in Hannover I'm super stoked! Big ups to the Legend HR!
I opened for him the night before in Pittsburgh, haha. I'm just glad that I got to shake his hand and tell him that I love his music.
Maximum Respect !! 🔥
I am convinced the person at 4:09 was Bradley
kobeyashi808 dude fuk yea!!!!!!

Wow! I saw this tour at the Wetlands NYC!
this made my day, amazing, free, clear out the dancehall
so much love and fun
Great upload!!! This was 1990, I saw another gig from that tour, at the Scala in Herford …??? and two years later in Bielefield with Ras Michel and the Sons Of Negus....good old days
stunning performance, still very relevant to this day 30+ years later.
Haven't seen too many older HR videos like this, thanks a ton for sharing!
no words for those vocals
I can hear my voice at 7:51... bow bow bow Bow!
made me smile
Made me happy. Sounded like Bradley haha
Thank you for this
Joseph I aka HR is a friend of mine. Human Rights was awesome. I some them dozens of times. Skitch Lovett on guitar and Vinny Vision on bass are also friends of mine. Earl, Joseph i's brother is cool with me too. The shows were incredible I loved them as much as Bad Brains. Joseph I was as happy as I have seen him during these days. 311 was heavily influenced by Human Rights and even covered one of their songs "Who's got the herb". I would love to see more video of them live.
Do you know what scale the guitarist is soloing on? What is the fingering for the chords?
E major to F# minor
D major to F#minor or
D major to E major
Next part, second and third fret bar chords
F# minor to G major
Hell yeah! I was there!!! I was on this Gig at 'Chez Heinz' in Hannover Germany. GOD BLESS H.R.!
Incrediable amazing The best no one better
OH HR it does not get better!
thank you for sharing this
please let there be more
This is a Gem Thanks!!! Ahead of it's time.
Positive Blessed love.
Epic performance.
FROM THE HEART.
It's such a tragedy that in 2009 he has lost his mind.
Good shit! Love HR
Thanks - great video. I saw him on this tour in Dortmund. I still have a of it tape with many unrecorded songs - Reggae only. He`s an underrated Artist. His solo work with Human Rights is great. Though he might be a bit weird today...
such a bummer more footage from this tour doesn't exist. thanks for putting this up.
Caught this tour in Pittsburgh....Amazing!
Remember Dortmund Live Station Great Gig I love them
This song is really really good, dare I say as good as some Bad Brains material, just different.
He's got Earl back there so it was like seeing Half of Bad Brains. And that's what I told myself both times I saw HR in the early 90s. :-) and I would also Daryl and Dr Know with that other singer twice during those years just waiting for God of Love
Thanks for uploading this video.
HR is Genius!
rock star god that likes true rock stars & jamming with 1/2 homeless. 1/2 bar owners like Soundgarden's drummer
pow pow pow pow pow
1990
This is awesome. I think to be fair, the last 20 years have not been kind to HR. But I like Hey Wella, it's a cool jam that is from the last few years.
Shame and Them Game from Charge! Awesome,Watcha apologizing for Bro? This rocks!
PowerFull!
And that breakdown is the znit!
why is it 'sadly only played reggae'??? H.R. reggae is amazing! I think its much more impressive than him just emulating bad brains.
what is this song?
Do you have any others of HR from any of his ALBUMS?
man, so sorry to say.. i think skitch passed away sometime around 2006... really sad. rest in peace skitch
@4gamerz Me to-it's amazing! :0)
have you got more of the concert...please share....give thanks...
I love the blend of Reggae and rock guitar!
Black Uhuru do the same thing - Check out the video "Guess who's coming to dinner"
Thanks for this stereopaul1.
Any idea what scale he's playing the solo on? Or the fingering of the chords to the song? I'm trying to learn it on guitar
obviouslyFAKE2

NOBODY like HR. I like the dude in the back right, by the curtain.. jaw is sideways .... super jacked @ 1:40

Bukan itu lagunya blok, sok tahu. Baru kenal hr ya ?
@cronopiocomunista Why's that? I've seen some recent vids of him tripping in interviews,lol...But that's just him in his own world...
