Ryan and Tony at Toylanta 2024 | Toy Federation x Knowhere Toys | Vintage Toy Show Highlights
Welcome back to the Toy Federation UA-cam channel! In this exciting video, join Ryan from Toy Federation and Tony from Knowhere Toys as they take you on an exclusive journey through Toylanta 2024, the annual vintage toy show held in Atlanta. This event is a paradise for toy enthusiasts, collectors, and anyone with a love for vintage treasures.
The History of Toylanta
Toylanta, formerly known as Joelanta, started in 2000 as a modest gathering for GI Joe collectors. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the premier vintage toy conventions in the United States, attracting fans from all over the globe. Renamed Toylanta to reflect its broader focus on various toy lines, the event now spans an entire weekend, featuring a bustling marketplace, panels, cosplay contests, and exclusive previews. Toylanta is not just a convention; it’s a celebration of nostalgia, creativity, and community, bringing together people who share a passion for toys from all eras.
Ryan and Tony’s Booth Highlights
In this year’s edition, Ryan and Tony have outdone themselves with an incredible booth filled with rare and sought-after items. Let's dive into some of the standout pieces you'll see in our video:
Kenner Indiana Jones Well of Souls Playset
One of the highlights at their booth is the legendary Kenner Indiana Jones Well of Souls playset. Released in 1982, this playset captures the thrilling moment from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" where Indiana Jones retrieves the Ark of the Covenant. The set includes a variety of accessories, such as snakes, the Ark, and a detailed backdrop. It’s a beloved piece among Indiana Jones fans and toy collectors for its intricate design and playability. The Well of Souls playset has become increasingly rare over the years, making it a prized possession for any collection.
Transformers Toys
Another major attraction at their booth is the range of Transformers toys. From Generation 1 classics to more recent releases, Ryan and Tony have a selection that will make any Transformers fan’s heart skip a beat. Among these is the original Optimus Prime, Megatron, and the Dinobots. These iconic figures not only defined a generation but also remain timeless pieces of toy engineering and design. Transformers, with their ability to change from vehicle to robot, revolutionized the toy industry and continue to be a staple in the world of collectibles.
Super Powers Collection Iceman
Collectors know that some figures from the Super Powers Collection are harder to find than others. The Iceman figure is one of these rarities. Produced by Kenner in the mid-1980s, the Super Powers Collection was a line of action figures based on DC Comics characters. The Iceman figure, in particular, stands out due to its limited production and distribution. Featuring excellent articulation and a design that closely resembles its comic book counterpart, Iceman is a must-have for any serious DC toy collector. Discovering one in mint condition, especially with its original packaging, is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Why Toylanta is a Must-Visit
Toylanta isn’t just about the toys; it’s about the people and the experiences. The convention offers a unique opportunity to meet fellow collectors, share stories, and discover the rich history behind each toy. Panels and discussions with industry experts provide valuable insights into the world of toy collecting. Cosplayers bring beloved characters to life, adding a vibrant atmosphere to the event. Whether you're a seasoned collector or new to the hobby, Toylanta has something for everyone.

Would you have paid for that?
I wouldn't have paid 4 for the print proof, but as a collector of animation cels, I understand the value of things like those. Crazy cool to see these deals take place.
Definitely.
50% of "value" so I could resell it ASAP
If i had the cash without a doubt
Way too rich for me but an awesome piece!!
No Saturday is complete without Toy Federation!
That is 100 Per cent correct
Amen
It took me a week to watch all their stuff, now each video is a huge deal!
@@ioukyojinyou and me both. I watched sun up to sun down just about and was 4 solid days. Now I have nothing haha
Another great Saturday morning episode! I would love an episode tour of Ryan's personal collection. It sounds like it's pretty spectacular!
That MOTU stuff at the end was amazing!! Never seen any of those! Loved it! And BK had plastic cups for MOTU in the 80s for a kids meal promo
i love the channel, but im really here for Ryan. hes just the best. i desperately want a toy federation shirt that says "Yeah, Yeah"
😂
Yes...he is the BEST!!!!??????😂
Yeah no, No yeah! I talk like that too lol might be a Ryan thing
Or "yeah yeah that’s cool" I’d definitely buy that! 🤣
I would love to see all of the Toy Federation guys' personal collections
Ryan is like the master of unfinished sentences 🤪
Thank you for the $15 credit. I just signed up came back to the the link and it added it right away. ❤
Thanks! Love the pod. Private toy collector myself.
I'd like to see Ryan's personal collection tour...🤞
I know right, me too
@@nathannewton8528woah! right 💯 ✅️
It's probably all in totes on shelves.
Everyone looks so nervous when you had their merchandise or was around their merchandise, they must know your habit of throwing toys around 😂
Never heard of Joe-fest before toy federation but now it’s definitely on the bucket list to attend
the phrase "vintage bootlegs" is still so funny to me
My new Saturday morning cartoons.
Your He-Man art: Those look like the black line overlays and blue line under painting of art by one of the original MOTU illustrators, Errol McCarthy. If you wanted a painted look, this was the process. Print the original line art on acetate, then print that same lineart in a light blue on art board. They would do all the coloring on the artboard and marry the two layers together for photography (thus the registration marks on the clear overlay). Very cool pieces. Art by McCarthy, Earl Norem, and Fredo Alcala claim top dollar. Great pieces!
Edit: they might be by artist Fred Carillo also. Another early MOTU artist.
I have the A-Team Command Center MIB. Bet toy purchase ever, bought it around 1998.
Another great video! I got to meet Tony this month at the Dallas fan-expo. He's a great guy. Totally surprised me when I walked into his booth. I said I've seen you before on toy federation videos. We had a really good conversation.
What you need to do is ask him why he has a hoarding problem.
I look forward to Saturday mornings now ty toy federation. 🤘
It is a pleasant surprise every Saturday!
I recognize some of those images in that internal catalogue booklet you showed at the end. They were used for a set of stickers that my brother and I had as kids. They were puffy stickers with kind of a plastic surface to them. There were some really neat sticker sets for all the toy lines back in the day. Some good memories. 😁
The floor is where the real business gets done!
It's ZED. Bobcat Goldthwait's gang leader turned police officer character.
Awesome stuff guys. Really enjoyed watching this one. Thank you
Thanks again! Love being able to see behind the scenes.
SUCH A GREAT SHOW!!!! THANK YOU 4 SHARING!!!!!❤😂🤙👍🤎😆🙏🫶
I watch these videos to see the chemical change come over every one as they deal with these gems. Exactly the same with me on vinyl records
Always catching..hope my wife isn’t watching this…..lol
My new favourite show
Thanks guys
Reproducing on software is fine as long as the book makes it clear the photo isn't 100% a photo. Bc if something isn't quite right with it but the image then goes on to be relied on as 100% accurate reference material... that's not good for anybody.
Coffee and Toy Federation....perfect way to start your Saturdays
If you want it, and can swing it, then go for it! Some things just don’t come around again. Only a collector would understand.
Stellar episode...so much eye candy!
Another great video! Looks like a great toy show and I love seeing that one of a kind stuff
Phenomenal job on this video ! A lot would consider ' nerd details ' to me are marketing and market details that are interesting because of artistic value that capture the eye. When you realize that these pieces are artwork that have a broad spectrum of interest 😂❤
Awesome as always
That art is amazing One of a Kind pieces Holy Grail for many collectors.
Those concept drawings are incredible.
Whatnot is like the canitina on Mos Eisley....
I’ll be stopping by the store for the first time on July 5th. On my way to southeast game exchange. Looking for a sound wave and blaster.
I remember you saying you didn't understand the hate towards WhatNot. My reason, as a seller myself, is they upped all their fees to a point where unless you're a big seller such as yourself, there's zero chance to make money unless I raise my prices. But I can't do that because the bigger people and stores with direct wholesale access can keep their prices much lower. It's for this reason I had to stop selling on WhatNot. They forgot about the people who made their site work, and went with the fast money.
I bought and sold the large A-Team Playset here in the UK years ago. They are exceptionally rare!
Awesome your on Whatnot! Ive had good buying experience so far through sellers there. I bookmarked your next show.
Dude should have all that concept art in frames.
Those art pieces at the end are really really cool.
So much vintage I love it!! Another awesome video guys can't wait to see what you have up for sale at the whatnot show this Thursday you guys rock!! #norepos
Great Video!
You can see that youtube money coming in now🤣
POLICE ACADEMY 😍😍😍
Those figures are hard to find where I live, especially carded.
Gotta get Mahoney, Hightower, Tackleberry & Jones MOC for my Police Academy collection.
Massive Police Academy fan right here - hell, I might even be the World's Greatest Police Academy Fan 😆
P.S. That He-Man art is beautiful!
man i love these videos it's like an addiction, I find myself constantly checking for a new vid :)
What is that box right next to Clockwork Orange that is a big spiral? Beetlejuice? Vertigo? Reminded me of the Smashing Pumpkins cd Boxed set from the 90s.
Face Off figures 😮😮
The Agent Sean Archer & The Villain Castor Troy
Great video.
I wish they did some retro video game stuff. The way this channel is the, the vibes, no gimmicks is great.
Nice you got that Transformers cassette combiner. Now you just need to get the decepticon 2 pack one.
8pm Thursday live but do you have any suggestions on how to be in the bid without downloading the app or do you have to have the app? Looking forward to the live pod, I need more stuff for MN Duluth
I don't remember the He man burger king glasses, but I still have the plastic cups as a kid
I love this channel ! I wish y’all would post more videos!! One day I look forward to visiting the store ! I’d be coming from Virginia
Great finds and great deals!! You have a nose for those
I know you guys are extremely busy, but I need more videos. I love the podcast channel but I think a Wednesday video would be great, maybe easier to produce content. Keep up the awesome work!
Another great episode. I'm sure y'all are at the Joe show this weekend in Georgia.
Why Tony look like & sound like Eddie Kingston?
3:55 guy sounds like the King of The Hill 😂
Wow the next scene going to the other room I wanted to see that.
When's part 2? Looked like a fun con.
Celebration 3 was Indy and I bought from him also that was peak early scooping
16:45 count dooku cosplay potential
So many good toys ! I want the Ice -Man, Imperial Shuttle and the Transformers.
What app are you guys using on your phones to determine prices?
Cool.
I love these videos but I miss you guys including the lobby swaps, the room deals, the parking lots deals....all of that stuff is really fun.
Like the guy selling just loose bags of accessories in the last one etc.
The high dollar and low dollar items in people's rooms lol
Im gonna get me one of them Wish Books....holy cow
Hey was that guy that was buying $1350 or so of transformers Snowball from Clerks?
Also, I got the ROTJ Imperial Shuttle for Christmas way back when, I can't help but think that wish list slot should have been for something else. It was like too big and heavy to be fun. In the backyard I'd use the Ewok village as a Rebel base, and the shuttle would sit there as the Imperial base.
police academy toys, those take me back. i had a few of em
For people asking about the eBay seller from the video selling Kenner pieces... they say his name is Tom Neiheisel, but I can't seem to correlate that to an eBay channel.
Im a star wars figure, pokemon figure, and TCG collector. It crazy that the Vintage Counterfits have a market in some of the toy lines. TCG would never have a market for that unless its to continue the scam. love the videos as always
❤
Are going to get the G.I JOE kick starter every gi joe comic book 156sh
It’s hard to price “one of a kind” art peices associated with the toy box art 🖼️- I prefer buying high grade examples of the production toys bc it’s easier to know the fair market value - less risk of overpaying for an item and much easier to sell.
Love secret wars. I played with them a lot they were so worn out. I need hobgoblin and baron zemo for my collection
Another reason why GRADING is such a farce...causes an ARTIFICIAL MARKET ... sadly !
It does, but it also keeps things at that condition so accidental damage doesn't happen. It also gives a set condition on things (whether you agree or not) because I've seen comics graded way differently then they probably are. So it can be peace of mind.
Is there a link to that toy collectors wish book where it can be purchased?
Kickstarter i think
@@Gideon0297 Thank you.
What is the A Team piece they were talking about that's so rare?
if you're asking about the one of a kind artworks, yes i would have paid for those. hardcore collectors make a bee line straight towards those types of items. "i have the only one!" they have all the figures, the rare, hard to find stuff and have moved on to prototypes, items outside the reach of casual collectors. favorite bit of the show HE-MAN: your hero in the profit wars! rotfl🤣
GREAT VIDEO ..kinda dark though .. ugh
Those tmnt giants they are two versions of them the first ones came out in 1989 the second version came out in the 1997 but behind it has the year stamp 1998 hopefully you got the first edition
Didn’t Ryan say he wouldn’t pay 200 for jeans but pays 4k for cardboard?
priorities.🤷
I don’t even like spending $10 on fast food, but I’ve calmly spent $100,000 on cards this year haha. Same thing.
Well, the jeans will never be worth more than $4k!
Jimmy Von Kenner
This episode has been brought to you by Wool Socks.
19:17 as someone who doesn't collect this stuff what the deal about the tap popping, why not replace it with the same size tap?
When the tape is popped it can no longer be considered as a sealed product. Many collectors would say that it has lost value due to being unsealed. It's one of those knit picky kinda things.
@@Marneus28 Yes they always say "Popped Tape"....but we all know some one took a peek.
Tape also just pops or loosens due to age. Glue tends to give way over time if not taken care of.
@@Marneus28 thanks.if i was collected the tape popping i would not care for as long as all the stuff is there.
great. pick ups. sir. love. al that. cool stuff. Where. is. the. store. located and. do you do. onlline. sales ? Have a. great weekend
Legend has it that Jesus floor sorted.
Guess I shouldn't have played with my toys until they were essentially destroyed...Nah, I wouldn't trade the fun I had for any amount of cash. Good on y'all, though!
I want to bid for sure but can I go on the toy federation sight instead of downloading the app? My phone is full.
Good morning everyone 😊
Who is the Kenner seller on ebay?
Tony Kenner
Who is the Kenner employee who sells on eBay?
I didn’t catch the name
Tom Kenner
@@brooke8567 are you trolling?
What’s peoples opinions on collectibility of ‘vintage toys’ late 70’s, 80’s, 90’s in the far future?
Do you think the next generations will find passion for these or will the nostalgia die out this us ?
Some franchises like transformers & turtles will have
Place due to the franchise’s still going strong today but will GI JOE, mask, mightymax, street sharks, MOTU countless other toy lines still carry a premium in 20 years or will the end up like tin toys or beanie babies?
It's a fascinating question I don't think anyone can fortell but I feel like since the 70s there was so much hype for those toys that grandparents and great grandparents will be keeping the hype going and grandchildren and great grandchildren will still want to get a piece of history. I have a hard tie thinking Star Wars toys will ever be left in the dust but also to your point Star Wars is still alive because of Disney and will probably be around for hundreds of years. Who knows!
Do you collect toys your parents and grandparents had?
@@brianrvd No. But my comment was pointing out that the 70s was when toys became mainstream madness. There has NEVER been a toy line more obsessed on then Star Wars in 1977 and 1978. Christmas 1978 was the greatest Christmas of all time. Millenium Flacon, Tie Fighters. X-Wings, Sromtroopers, etc, etc, etc. The begining of the madness was 1978.
@@brianrvdTin toys, marbles and yo-yos NO
@sus30t and that's what kids 50 years from now will think about our toys. That is if any of the plastic survives that long.
Why does Ryan always yeah twice?
It's better than the people that say "no yeah" or "yeah no."
Until the UA-cam algorithm inexplicably sent these videos my way I had no idea that there was a whole culture & community based around toy collecting. I actually think it's quite cool and interesting. I'm thinking about maybe starting with collecting Star Trek (Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space Nine) items as i have one or two already, and I'm really into those old shows. Is Star Trek something people collect, trade etc?
For sure people collect Trek! Never too late to start collecting!
Who is the other guy who is always in your videos at shows? Does he make videos??
Tony! Knowhere Toys in Miami! Sub his channel!
Buys in shop 40%-50% goes to toy show pays 70%-80% makes since...........
$400 price tags, $4000 price tags, and this isn’t Australian Dollarydoos, this is GREENBACK USD!
