- Sog instinct edc fixed blade review
The blade steel is 5Cr15MoV, I misspoke in the video.
I received a defective sheath from SOG, when inserting the sheath in the proper orientation it simply does not go in, but when reversed it almost fit. I contacted SOG and they sent a new sheath free of charge. - Розваги
You complained about the logo being upsidedown on the sheath but you CLEARLY put the knife into the sheath upsidedown! 🤦♂️🤣
I clearly tried multiple times in the video, also I received incorrectly cut sheath so I contacted Sog and they replaced it and sent me a XR knife to apologize. Try readying the comments brother, I have addressed this multiple times.
I’m stupid but I’m not that stupid. 😂

?
SOG absolutely kills it on budget edc fixed blades. Their seal pup is one of my all time favorites.
Yeah this little thing seriously surprised me.
The logo's are reversed because you put the blade in upside down/backwards. The steel is 5Cr15MoV, which is fine for this type of blade. I actually love the entire package. Watch for my upcoming review...
Yeah I thought as much and switched it up multiple times, it doesn’t go in any other way.
@@RedwolfEDC guess you got a bad one their QC on their cheaper knifes is getting worse mine fits nice with the logos facing the same direction and I just throw this in my pocket as a self defense last resort so don't need it super sharp cheers
You put in in the sheath backwards. The letters match if you put it in the correct way.
It doesn’t go in the sheath any other way, maybe I got a dud or something.
@@RedwolfEDC strange. The shape of the sheath follows the shape of the blade. Try oil?
The mini tac and a seal pup is my edc. I put shark teeth on my seal pup and its better for climbing, and the mini tac is a solid and discreet backup. Never leave home or the ground without them.
Edit: instinct mini, not mini tac, although I recommend both
Cool little knife as for you very small knife....I really like a 3" blade for a folder for EDC but that is me....I do love those beast for folders as they look so tough....This knife is well out of your wheel house for qualify and price....Nice job with the detailed info....Good stuff....
I purchased the instinct and the instinct mini.. both without the plastic insert grip.... They were both just the skeletonized grips and I took# 90 paracord and wrapped my own grip.. you do have to sharpen the blade as it comes pretty dull.. the sheaths were really good.. I removed the clips in use them as a neck knife., One thing I discovered is this type of steel does rust.. I removed the green paracord wrap on the grip. To change it to Black paracord and there was some rust starting underneath the Paracord on the skeletonized grip... So I took some steel wool got the rust off and he did it with a hair dryer and coated it in some frog lube.. before re-wrapping the Paracord on the grip....
Great review 😎
Imagine if they put some nicer steel on this. I think it would get some real love from the community. The design begs care from the maker.
I have the same blade and I'm totally agree with you. Thanks for your review
Thank you for your support and I hope to see you in future comment sections.
Crkt minimalist is an amazing small knife, only issue is it won’t clip on waistband, but for belt carry or neck knife... top of the line, even better grip than the instinct
Hi, nice snall knife, i like small fixed blades. I have several knives both folders and fixed blades in 5cr15 and had not seen it elsewhere. I suppose it is chinese steel but know nothing about it. Mine are all Solognac make. I have to strop after every use and they need regular sharpening.. All the best.
With they made it just a little bigger be a sick horizontal belt carry
Hey, you silly man!
You slid the knife into the sheath upside down and complained about symmetry! Lol
Other than that, your observations are pretty good.
Read the comments bud, I have answered this question at least a dozen times.
Awesome review! I’m definitely going to have to pick one up
sweet
Bonjour is it a good knife for bushcraft ?
Absolutely not, its the wrong type of grind.
Design is appealing but the billboarding, mystery steel and shit sheath makes it a no go for me. I do however carry a CRKT minimalist tanto blade and it works well for light duty stuff and the sheath is better quality than the SOG shit sheath 😆. The blade is 2 inches bro, just a suggestion, maybe look in to it. I’m actually going to grab the cleaver one and the clip point next. Thanks for the video.
Really shocked by your findings and overall score of 7. Not saying it’s not a valid rating or opinion. You didn’t mention if the belt clip can be removed or moved to the other side if desired or needed. Did it come with a chain or neck lanyard? PLMK ASAP. Thank you.
It came with a chain that broke almost immediately but you could definitely neck carry it if you wanted to. As far as the clip being reversible I honestly didn’t even try it but it looks like it should be.
Are you looking into buying one?
@@RedwolfEDC Oh Wow. The chain broke!?! Hmmm. I’ve considered buying one but was wondering about the versatility of the belt clip and the sheath. My immediate questions have been whether or not the belt clip can be removed, if it is ambidextrous, etc!?! Best price seller?
@@flhandster4395 It was just a cheap chain brother, nothing special. Let me go dig around and see if I still have this, if I do then just pay for shipping and I will give it to you.
Yeah I still have it, both sides of the sheath have threading so it should be reversible, I also found some decent quality break away chain if you are interested in using it as a neck knife.
Do you have Instagram or FB so we can exchange information? I will get this mailed out tomorrow afternoon if you want it.
@@RedwolfEDC You don’t like the knife at all? How long have you owned it? Not wanting to take your knife. :) Besides, the shipping cost is probably not cheap. 😏
Bro you have it in the sheath upside-down
I have explained this so many times it's ridiculous. Look in the comments before you say some dumb shit
You put it on a wrong side. Thats why its not symmetrical.
I have addressed this so many times brother, it was a flawed sheath and SOG sent me a new one, it wasn’t put in backwards because the design of sheath doesn’t allow it to go in backwards even partially.
@@RedwolfEDC You Put the Knife in Upside Down !
We can see the video .
Just admit the mistake .
@@the1basser So you clearly read my response yet still you comment so you must be very sad and bored. Maybe go watch someone else's channel troll.
I bought myself one and yeah it does go in the right way with force but then you need to hammer it out because there is no way to get it out, so had to do some modifications to get it in and out, will I recommend buying it, big no, no

5cr steel and the friggin branding all over on this small ass knife for...30 bucks!? I am crazy for small fixed blades and the same design in at least 440 or 8cr and I would be all over it. As is, i wouldn't pay more than 12 bucks
You definitely put the knife in the sheath backwards. Look at the shape of the blade and the shape of the sheath... The drop point is clearly molded into the sheath and you put the blade edge on that side... Also that little angled spot on the handle scale is also molded into the sheath... You put it in the wrong way then proceeded to complain about the sog logo being upside down.
Already answered this in the comments before and I literally still have this knife and sheath, the sheath doesn't work and SOG sent me a new one.
Hey don’t hate too much on sog lol, the company was created in honor of Vietnam veterans and today they supply millions of knives to are police and military, even are navy seals use sogs, look at some of there $200-$300 knives including the sog seal, they have really good steel
Anyone wear it in the boot? 🥾
Très déçu de ce neck qualité générale très médiocre comparé aux crkt minimaliste.
