I suspect the Royal family will fade away in some way after the Queen dies, but I do have a huge amount of respect for the Queen and her lifetime of service to the country. She does have a personality that comes through in rare 'unofficial' moments. One of my favourites is when she hosted the King of Saudi Arabia at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and personally drove him around the estate in her (pretty old) Range Rover - look: women CAN drive. There are many stories about her 'escaping' her security when she's there and when locals tell her she looks like the Queen, she says, "I get that a lot." She broke down & repaired her own engine too. I don't have much to say about the rest of them, but she is a person, and the original commenter is right. The way she had to - and chose to - mourn her husband was heartbreaking. She followed the same rules as the rest of the country and that _is_ how she has lived her life since she came into the public eye during WWII.

Doing that would be stupid. It would hurt be a back and forth fight of adding more judges till they became unable to operate. The true answer to this is not having Supreme Court be a life long appointment. I get the orginal intention. Lifelong so they don't have to play politica. I think a better idea would be maybe a 10 year or 20 year term. Single time appointment only. Meaning once you've been appointed, that's it. You can't be appointed again. Thus no need to play politics. Then having term limit will also ensure that the court is more likely to represent the people instead of what people 50 years ago represented.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a great women and an inspiration to many. And I know its not good to speak ill of the dead. But her refusal to retire and live the final years of her life in comfort made America a worse place. Her refusal to retire at a time when Obama could have replaced her will haunt America for decades. The simple truth is that I can't forgive her for that. I can understand why she wanted to stay, but it was reckless and negligent. In my eyes I'll have a hard time remembering what good she did. All that comes to mind when I think of her is how she gambled with America's future and lost her bet. Her pride caused her to want the first female president to name her successor. I'm British & not a Royalist. I suspect the Royal family will fade away in some way after the Queen dies, but I do have a huge amount of respect for the Queen and her lifetime of service to the country. She does have a personality that comes through in rare 'unofficial' moments.
One of my favourites is when she hosted the King of Saudi Arabia at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and personally drove him around the estate in her (pretty old) Range Rover - look: women CAN drive. There are many stories about her 'escaping' her security when she's there and when locals tell her she looks like the Queen, she says, "I get that a lot." She broke down & repaired her own engine too.
I don't have much to say about the rest of them, but she is a person, and the original commenter is right. The way she had to - and chose to - mourn her husband was heartbreaking. She followed the same rules as the rest of the country and that _is_ how she has lived her life since she came into the public eye during WWII.

The true answer to this is not having Supreme Court be a life long appointment.

I think a better idea would be maybe a 10 year or 20 year term. Single time appointment only.
Meaning once you've been appointed, that's it. You can't be appointed again. Thus no need to play politics. Then having term limit will also ensure that the court is more likely to represent the people instead of what people 50 years ago represented.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a great women and an inspiration to many. And I know its not good to speak ill of the dead. But her refusal to retire and live the final years of her life in comfort made America a worse place. Her refusal to retire at a time when Obama could have replaced her will haunt America for decades. The simple truth is that I can't forgive her for that. I can understand why she wanted to stay, but it was reckless and negligent. In my eyes I'll have a hard time remembering what good she did. All that comes to mind when I think of her is how she gambled with America's future and lost her bet. Her pride caused her to want the first female president to name her successor. Her pride gave the nomination to Trump.
