    Davis Warren. Best passer on the team, by far. You don't know him because Warren had cancer coming out of high school, but he was a highly ranked QB in California before that. Now healthy and strong. In the Spring Game, Warren worked with the 2s and 3s against Blue's 1s and 2s. In ten minutes, he passed for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns to win the game. AGAINST MICHIGAN'S DEFENSE 1s and 2s! Coaching staff raves about DW's technical skills, ability to run well out-of-the-pocket, mid- to long-range passing, etc. For example, DW escaped out of the box to his right and threw to a young receiver on a crossing route to the left for a long TD. Minutes later, DW threw a long pass into the end zone to a freshman for a touchdown. No, Orji and Tuttle should not platoon because invariably that can destroy a QB room. Tuttle should be an assistant coach, not a starting 7th year QB. Orji will get on the field no matter what- RPO, fullback in the flat, chipper and receiver on a screen, etc. but Tuttle gets hurt a lot, and is not a great runner. I like him as the #2 as a serviceable QB when either DW or AO are on the field.

      @@BlairKrueger-ry3lk I really hope this guy wins it. I'm going to leave Orji out of the discussion because I am just assuming he will be a package QB. But, with Tuttle, it's like the guy has proven nothing. His "added experience" is marginal-a few starts at Indiana in 5 seasons of college football... that's almost irrelevant. I swear, I'd have a higher opinion of Tuttle if he had 0 starts because then I'd assume that perhaps he wasn't given a chance. But, he was! He started a few games at Indiana, and STILL wasn't good enough to win the job.

    I really hate to be that guy but I hope Moore hasn’t complied a staff that is moved by outside pressure. There has been a lot of Tuttle propaganda coming from the beat since the offseason started an I feel like it’s at least partially responsible for this conversation. If a seventh year guy is anywhere near a rs sophomore in terms of competency of the offense that’s a no brainer go with the younger guy. And that has to be the case bc of the separation were that drastic they’d start Tuttle. I honestly feel like this age over potential mentality is something we’ve seen in past at Michigan and it’s never served us. It won’t here either.

      If the QB battle is close I also lean the younger one as well. I think the staff might lean that way as well.

      Agreed. Tuttle has never started, gets hurt every year, is slow on getting at the pocket, slow on his release, and drops like a 70s QB like it is a deep pocket...in today's today's football is not. Orji will get on the field, for sure, but Tuttle only works as a serviceable 2nd teamer to Warren or Orji. Not a 1st teamer.

      Considering Sherrone Moore will be fired soon, who is the head coach? Repeat offender for lying and cheating. He just signed documents within the last two years he wouldn't lie and cheat again. Well, today, just like my sources said 3 months ago, Moore will be canned.

    Let's look at the numbers in the very small sample size we have on each of the frontrunners, while at the University of Michigan
    .
    Davis Warren Spring Game:
    6/9 136 yards 2 TD
    Jack Tuttle 2023 Season:
    15/17 130 yds 1 TD
    Alex Orji Spring Game:
    13/18 103 yards, 19 rushing yds, 1 rushing TD.
    Take your pick ...

    Whoever Michigan Quarterback is for 2024, their performance will have to be at least of the level. Of (Cade McNamara) was to even have a chance to win a big ten championship or make it to the playoffs

    It's funny, hypothetically speaking, if Uncle Urban Meyer was the coach of Michigan. Alex Orji would be the starting qb until he absolutely couldn't be, like we saw with Braxton Miller, Jt Barrett, Justin Fields, and Tebow. He has championships because he always goes with the raw talent guy, then molds the offense around him. I just feel like Orji has to prove to me in a game that he can't be QB1. Even JJ was a better gametime qb than he was in practice. Tuttle has been around, but he hasn't been the guy anywhere in 6 years. Let the youth movement ride! Go Blue! 〽️🏈💯💪🏾👑🏆

    I agree to the point you guys hit on briefly about the run game. I think a lot of Michigan fans are just coming into the season expecting an elite run game. I’m a huge fan of the oline and our rb core but it’s not a certainty that it will be dominant or at least right away. I think week 1 they will split between Tuttle and Orji with Tuttle starting vs Texas. The outcome plus how that game goes will determine what happens in week 3 and beyond. I’m team Orji because I think you see 8 wins on the schedule with whoever at QB and i think Orji has the chance to change the landscape of those big games. I trust the coaching staff and what happens I will support

    I think this is a 2 part question. Who's QB1 for Texas. And then who takes over after. If Tuttle can be a tad better than Cade was he is the clear, safe, choice for the Texas game. But I see Orji by the end of the season being QB1.

  • @danielpeters6937

    I think the best QB will start. We’re lucky to have this much depth at QB. What happens if Texas loses their starting QB? They lose at least 3 games right? That happens with every top program. How about us? It doesn’t affect us as much. I love to see these guys all competing and supporting each other. I believe they will all play but Tuttle and orji will get the most snaps, maybe even a 2 QB system.

      A dual system of DW and AO can work, as Alex is a diverse engine that can motor M's offense in many ways. Like The Don, he can play Wildcat, RPO, DropBack, run /catch out of the flat, and his favorite throwing plays. AO will break down defenses and become a hero. DW will, simply put, be our best passing resource.

  • @mattdrewdrums

    Please stop saying Tuttle "has experience." The guy has started in like a handful of games in his 7 years of college football (which he looked mediocre af in btw). That's not meaningful experience. Meaningful experience would be starting for, at least, an entire season or close to it.

    • @rocboysfootball
      @rocboysfootball  2 місяці тому

      This is very fair, but in comparison to the other QBs in the room he is by far the most experienced.
      I also think being at the college level (even if not starting) for 7 years plays a role in experience as well.

    • @mattdrewdrums
      @mattdrewdrums 2 місяці тому +1

      @rocboysfootball Sure, but then people should say Tuttle has "a marginal advantage in experience" and not "Tuttle is experienced." Frankly though, the fact that he's 7 YEARS in with only a handful of starts kind of negates any upside from those starts. If he was a junior, it'd be like, yeah, it's good he's started some games, and if he had 0 starts it'd be like well he never got a real chance. But, as a 7th year player with a few starts, it's like damn you were given opportunities to win the job and still weren't good enough.
      Also, I agree that even just being part of a college football team for 7 years adds experience. That being said, most of the value in that comes from developing an understanding of the X's and O's and schemes unique to your team. Well, Orji and Warren both have as good of an understanding of the Michigan offense as Tuttle, so he doesn't hold much of an advantage there, if at all.

      @@rocboysfootball J Tutt is a class act and professor in the QB room. Seasoned and respectable elder statesman, to say the least. He is an efficient QB with long-term experience although just briefly a random starter at Indiana. J Tutt is a great asset to Michigan's offense, and when someone in the room gets hurt, the team will look to J Tutt. Unfortunately, AO and DW are 1s, in their own right. Platooning is not really an apt description of DW and AO on the field. I believe in the next two weeks, Sherrone and his new OC will insert plays into the playbook that will make AO shine, and allow DW freedom to reign down a passing attack that the entire country has yet to see. Dude beat our 1s and 2s - and y'all saw it last Spring. Let Cancer Man take a turn.
