My problem actually was the front sensory, so I broke a piece of my ps2 for nothing, all I had to do was put a couple of tiny squares of tape on the tab that goes into the front sensor. Thanks for the insight on the sensors though.

I have a SCPH 90001 and I just installed a brand new laser and spindle motor and it still won't spin the damn disc! The laser goes down and fires red but the disc won't spin.
I would suggest at this point to make sure you fully took off the anti static ball on the side of the new laser. If so and it still doesn't work then you may just need to try another new laser. Sometimes that is the case.
@@guidezoid1646 I desoldered the laser. I ordered a new laser ribbon flex cable since I read online that a guy had a similar situation with no spin after a brand new motor and laser and he said replacing the ribbon fixed it for him.

same. I think you might have to replace the entire power button itself, it might be the sensor that went out. the front sensor for me keeps turning off my console when i click it. Idk why

@@guidezoid1646 I was able to fix it , think some stuff was just dirty in the ribbon cable, at first I only pressed the sensor in the back but when I pressed both it made a noise but dint go through , after I cleaned it started spinning
My memory cards didn't work either after trying to use my PS2 Slim line that I had stored in my closet for years but I just took a Q-Tip and wet it with 90% rubbing alcohol, then I used it to clean the contacts on the memory cards and the contacts on the PS2 also (unplug power from PS2 first) Then I pushed the memory card in and out a few times and It worked perfectly! The alcohol evaporates easily. Just do not drench the Q-Tip too much. You will see the dirt on the Q-Tip after cleaning. Just make sure you allow the alcohol to fully evaporate before powering up again. Five minutes to be safe. IT WORKS! USB ports as well. And ethernet contacts.

So, I put mine together and for some reason the top half didn't seem to fully fit back down onto the bottom half--it looks lined up, and when I press down it stays but when I let go it's just a little bit separated. Is that normal? Is that why it was having the issue in the first place?
If this doesn't make it work it is either that you need to put in a new laser (have a video on how to do) or you just need to replace the spindle (the piece with the ribbon tape that turns the disc)

I opened my ps2 slim and there was a dead bug inside it. Fucking gross.
And that might not be the issue for long term it's better to replace the ribbon and laser for a really long term fix

Any tips on one that starts and stops? I opened mine and held down those 2 points and starts up slows to stop and starts up again then stops.
It's probably the laser, you will likely need a new one.

I bought a New Sealed Ps2 in november and it randomly stopped spinning discs today. I'll open her up and see if this works.
This is also part of a modding method for PS2. I remember doing this when I was 15 to play fan made guitar hero games!!

If it doesn't spin then that likely means you will have to replace the little laser. It isn't hard to do, I have another video on how to do it.

What are you supposed to do when your memory card says this but you have data in it
You may want to check if any of the little prongs in the memory card slot are bent. It would stop the memory card from being read.

For me spindle is not spinning but laser works

Hi. You should probably just start with the corners and works your way around the sides. They could be pretty hard to open sometimes

Yeah some models only have the one in the front. So if pushing down on that one still doesn't work then it could also be you need a new spindle.
