There are a lot of different ways to do retirement. I talk about 2 completely different paths. Get the daily personal finance newsletter here: www.morningdownload.com/subsc...
I started my career in the United States Navy. Was trained as a Machinery Repairman and really enjoyed being a machinist and later worked for a Utility Company in California as a nuclear maintenance machinist really enjoyed it and even though it was fun. Twenty seven years later they closed down the nuclear power station plant and gave me a very generous severance and retirement package. I all ways enjoyed working. I guess sometimes you just get lucky. Living the dream in San Diego, California
💯% ...my path wasn't all that different from yours, but if I had to do it over again I probably would have done something like your Costco example... An 18yo who is diligent and thoughtful can start at Costco at age 18 and exit Costco at age 30 with darn-near a couple hundred thou$ in investments
hey Mitch. I checked our your channel and it looks like you're getting some good traction already! I agree with your comment. Seeing people doing well saving at those jobs most people look down on should make us reevaluate things.

I've heard the military training is really good for getting skills. Congrats on the severance!

Very hard to live a decent life at a lower wage and save and invest. So in theory it sounds feasible, reality is very unlikely.
But having no debt makes it easier.
