Your comment on the striker set had me laughing. You are easily the best YT'er when it comes to D2. As a fellow Brit I love the brutal honesty you give. You deserve way more subs. I'll definitely be trying this one later today. Have a grand day, laddie.
Thank you! Appreciate the support. Have fun with it. It certainly surprised me with how strong Backfire is now and hats off to Massive for making the changes to Ceska and Yaahl. It makes Backfire very viable without screwing up any other builds. The toughest part of the build is getting the right rolls on Yaahl and Ceska pieces. The rest is fairly easy to put together. Cheers
@@NYLCasualGaming I can't stand the Dark Zone. But I've picked up a few pieces of Yahl from the clan vendor over the years. My obsessive hoarding of things in my stash and alts finally pays off.
I put together a backfire umbra yaahl build a little while ago. Yaahl mask and back pack. 100% hazpro and chd on the two yaahl pieces. Bloodsucker on the backpack as well.
Love using the backfire! I figured out that if you run it on a Hunter''s Fury Build including Memento Backpack / Sokolov Chestpiece (3-5 blue cores)... you don't really need to build it with hazard protection since the armor on kill and bonus armor for picking up memento trophies will take care of the incoming damage.
True. I do find that the bleed status effect is very annoying though with the slowing effect on sprint and the darkened screen. So for me the immunity is worth it. But with either build the main thing is that the Backfire is really good now and more people should try it!
Have fun with it. If Backfire had just slightly faster RPM I would say it is the best SMG right now with all the changes they have made. As it is I think there are very valid arguments that Dark Winter or Chatterbox are still the best because they are more versatile - Backfire forces you down one build type. Even so it is surprisingly good and I hate to say it, well done Massive for making the changes to Ceska and Yaahl. I'm sure many like me were a bit 'whelmed' by the last brand set changes but they actually got those two right. By the way - I have a build for this that I use all the time and will put out next week but Yaahl - pulse resistance - dz farming. See where I am going with this. Cheers
@ It was the very base of my hazpro conflict build last season before the buffs. Now, it’s an even more compelling pve option. I think pairing it with strikers is genius. Crit chance and damage is covered by the smg, and striker takes care of buffing tf out of it. Keep up the great content!
Playing with the Backfire since the introduction of the Ninjabike and the Cavalier set. Switched from Striker to Hunter Fury for the short CC and the personal playstyle. Hitting Crits on the Body for 1.2 mil.
The only reason I don't like HF with the build is the slower RPM. It just feels so sluggish. But the cc is great. A striker build will still outperform (my build is very much not optimized) but HF is still great.
i start using this weapon after they update the talent...i use it with a DZ build 100% hazard resistance to all elements [including scanner pulse]. It is one of few builds i have for DZ, and is keep me safe and alive when farming there. Is more like a guerrilla fighting build/ hit and run....as my armor is just 1.7M and as a solo player is decent but not enough to survive to more than 1-2 rogues. [in special that now in DZ there are lot of Tanks with 2.0M armor]
For anyone wanting to compare this, the fella who mentioned a Ceska Vigilance backpack + Ceska Oblit + striker and an easier to build 4 striker, Ceska Oblit chest, Ceska knees gloves or holster…all body crits 13% proficiency backfire, 60% crit on all (removal of 6% chc mod makes all these the same at 54). Anyways…with the lack of reliability on a vigilance bp stick with the striker pack… 4 pc striker 2 Ceska (oblit chest) haz pro minor attributes, 2 chd minors on Ceska gear, 1 chc mod, bleed resist mod, chd mod Full stacks body crit 15 yards 1,230,800 (13% expertise backfire) Ninja bike yaahl Ceska striker 1,046,859 Striker, Ceska oblit + Ceska Vigi 1,286,827 The marginal increase in dmg on vigilance isn’t worth how often you’ll lose it from getting hit. Adding ninja and yaahl doesn’t help any, and further complicates the farming for gear. It’s not worth the effort, ninja unnecessarily sacrifices 200k dmg Edit: agreed on upside of yaahl/ceska/ninja for additional blue cores for your shield, player/playstyle pending
Thanks for running these numbers and they certainly make sense (25% TWD on 25% TWD cf 25% AMP on 65% AMP). One thing though you may not have accounted for is if having a shield with a higher health is important to the player. In which case you need to do what I did in my calculations which is remove WD cores from the Strikers / Ceska to get to the same equivalent build. Very much depends on the skill level of players and playstyle, but for those that want to be aggressive, using a shield to get in close, then having the higher health that the NB gives you is very useful. Its a sacrifice of 200k dmg for staying alive for some players which might be more important to them.
I used to run it with full bleed resistance. But they really nerfed the bleed damage so I now run Backfire with only 30% bleed resistance. Ceska chest (Obliterate) and BP (Vigilance) gives me the 20% and then the watch gives me the other 10%. Which means I can run full on red, and honestly the bleed isn't that bad. The bleed animation and the slowing down your sprint is annoying but the damage increase is just so good. Since Strikers bp got nerfed I believe it is better to run the Ceska bp because you get the extra slot which means more immediate damage plus Ceska gives the same 25% dmg increase Strikers bp gives you. But I can certainly appreciate anyone wanting to get more Bleed/Haz protection in case suicide bombers pop out the door right next to you. Range 15 meters set to Named with no modifiers on, at full stack it hits for 1.6 mil a crit. With the Global modifier on hits for 2.7 mil a crit. I haven't unlocked any of the other modifiers so I don't know what it could do with those.
Very good point about the lower bleed damage now. I think players should start higher and reduce it to the level they feel comfortable at. Of course, the bleed effect is really annoying with what it does to the screen so personally I'm sticking with bleed immunity.
I'm starting to hate that essentially striker is the goto for 95% of damage builds in the game (And i mean gun damage, not skill damage), no hate towards anyone throwing strikers in there but the game feels so beyond stale with how strikers steamrolls almost any other gun build in the game except for a determined sniper build...
It is inevitable that there will be a mathematical meta in any looter shooter just because it is impossible for every item in the game to be perfectly balanced. Every game with loot has a best in slot. It is up to the players whether they use it or not though. Maybe the question we should be asking is why are so many players so fixated on playing a game in the mathematically most optimal way, rather than in the way that feels best to them? 🤷🏼♂️
Thank you so much for trigger the black screen when showing builds. My goodness how many don’t do that making it hard to see. Thanks
Agreed. It is very hard to see unless you do.

Ha. i'm the same. Every character's stash is maxxed out just in case.
Always love/use Backfire always will, and now we unlimited option with new updated gear
It is definitely a very viable option now and up there with the best SMGs.

That's my go to smg. Have 3 builds on different specialization
Been a while since a pve build guide made me throw out one of my very own. Very well done, this is my project for the next couple hours

I use a very similar build for farming which is built around avoiding rogues. I will put mine up on the channel this week coming most likely.

@ yah fair point, better shield I get that and depending on the player/playstylefor sure, def don’t fault that one aspect
Tried it with a Hazpro build and it was ok but I like to play at long range

im using it with striker, ceska obliterate chest, a lot of nice dmg
That it is.
