+peter spencer they do not have the LSA in Holden models such as the SS. LSA is available in lower spec HSV now though (Clubsport, Maloo, Senator). LS3 are now in the SS models. Quite different. lol

Which is why the last holden's would have basically 2nd hand parts put on them, but you would not know which parts they are mainly because of the parts have the holden stickers on them, thus not knowing where the part came from other than it was made in SA and date and time of manufacture ?
back in the day they where shipped as a complete statesmans and calais and many many parts were sold off to other companies such as motorfield and eagle, even dealers used to buy the parts to recondition used cars. Used to be able to buy crate motors, diffs, brake sets, wheels, brake pads by the hundred. Around 2010 Holden got there greedy little mits all over it and decided to run their own surplus program.. They charged dealers x3 as much for technically used parts and they got stuck with destroying most of it as part of obsolescence (written off)
What a waste of production time stripping parts and refitting, its no wonder companies go under like this with inefficient processes, they could really learn something from how Germany streamline production lines and automate.
Valid point but these cars come ready made from the plant in Adelaide with the plastic bodykits and taillights (that need removing/replacing anyways) - if they try and bypass fitting these components at the initial assembly line, then a lot of alarms along the line have to be manually bypassed making the original process inefficient. The core of the car + its engine is already fitted there + HSV customers would want customised mods to their car.
HSV is better than AMG, I'm yet to see an A250 without an AMG kit on it. Holden dealers cant sell a Redline with HSV wheels or body kit. You buy a HSV, you get a HSV. Can't fake it like AMG and M.
Why is there so much removal of Holden parts to only just replace with HSV parts? Seems like a very unnecessary step to the process, time consuming and expensive as far as labour is concerned (and I guess also for just having those extra parts available as stock at Holden). Is there an express reason why HSV must receive 'roadworthy' vehicles? Why not send them over without the tail lights, bumpers, etc?
Because these cars don't just go to Holden HSV in vic. These cars can go any where in the world ready to be re branded as any GM brand. With out changing the process of how its done. I own a Holden WM2 caprice as a P plater and they send my car of the same model over seas as chev SS caprice.

Mr Mot It's not that. The evoke body is the shape of a regular commodore. So Holden gave HSV the evoke body's because they are the low class car. Type in on Google a 2014 Holden commodore evoke and the cars on google will have the exact same bumpers, front ends, back ends and tail lamps as the evokes.
I was considering buying one of these, but now I am not so sure. My biggest issue with HSV is that it is just a Commodore with some different parts. Now looking at this I see how much that really is the case. Kind of takes the desire out of the car because it just doesn't seem as special anymore. A GTR is a GTR. It is it's own beast. It's not a pulsar with a quicker motor, better suspension and a different interior and bodystyling. What a let down.

So imo (and tell me if I’m wrong) the sticker should say “HSV I’ve got one” I think if you own more than one that you get “HSV I’ve got two” “HSV I’ve got three”

HSV aren't going under. HSV are an in-house tuning brand but separate from Holden and GM and so they have to do this stuff.

+Aiden Powell Do you know anything about product manufacturing? It is cheaper for Holden to ship those Commodores with no change to design as it doesn't interrupt their production line and process. Any altercations to the design and product assembly process WILL cost more money for HSV (as Holden aren't going to take the hit for a process HSV wants), which will in turn cost the CONSUMER more money as HSV have to make up that money from somewhere. How is that so hard to understand? Don't go criticising a successful business when you have absolutely no idea of what you're talking about, especially as HSV is still continuing on after the Holden factory closes to work on other Holdens that are imported into the country.

Being an hsv owner,probably like a few guys here i dont think i was the only one surprised at
how much isnt done at HSV, and the fact that you're essentially paying for them to be removing and replacing parts rather than them actually building the car, which for years i thought was the case,
or more so than it actually is anyway.
