I'm stuck in Melbourne because of MIQ restrictions and border restrictions back home in NZ. I listen to this waiata every day to keep me connected to my beloved country, tears flowing. Why are you letting people in that are not even born in NZ Jacinda. Thankyou Stan for keeping me strong with this beautiful waiata.
Kia ora to those in Aotearoa, aroha from the hills of West Virginia, USA. I’ve been attempting to learn Te Reo Maori…. I can halfway pronounce some words ( and I immensely apologize if I have misspelled or misused any words, it’s a difficult language to learn as an English speaker). The language just resonates on a level that I can not explain. I am fascinated and deeply respectfully to the culture. Some people say they were born in the wrong era, I believe I was born on the wrong continent. Aroha to Aotearoa.
Kia Ora, Nga mihi for your kind words but I just wanted to tell you, it’s possible to become Maori besides being born into it 😊 Māori is a way of life & it’s own world view. The language is so distinct & rare, I think it stirs something deeply primal to Pakeha’s Wairua. (Non Māori’s spirit) You’re doing so well! Keep it up 🔥 Pro tip is; our vowels are pronounced differently to how English is pronounced. Please don’t be offended but I taught my son those vowel sounds via Takaro Tribe on YT. It’s a Māori kids show but super insightful 🫶🏽 my nan was a kohanga reo teacher who helped revive the Reo through children. They based a lot of current curriculum from hers & others works. Also Gisborne’s mayor is of Asian descent & speaks fluently haha! It makes me proud to be Māori 💯 Haere Mai x
Thank you so much, I will definitely watch that show. I need all the help I can get. I’m starting from scratch. Also please the next time you go to your marae, let them know that your efforts to spread your tikanga have not gone unnoticed nor unappreciated. Thank you for your time and patience. Aroha from the hills of West Virginia.
Kia ora, I hope you see this. I’m so happy to say that a member of the All Blacks digital media team contacted me and I very well might be in a video that they want to put out about fans of the team from around the world. I made sure to write your screen name down so I could tell the gentleman about you and a few others that have helped me in learning about your country and culture. Aroha from the hills of West Virginia. And thank you from the depths of my heart for allowing me a chance to learn from you.
I remember going to a festival where Stan headlined, I was there to see other acts and when Stan came on I remembered thinking to myself “oh it’s just Stan walker” but when he started to sing live I was absolutely blown away just pure energy and his vocals demanded your full attention.
The spirit in this song that comes from your voice brings heaven into my marriage, into my home, into my heart, and into the hearts that I touch with love. Forever and ever.
Every time you sing it's magic. You have one of the closest voices to an angel on Earth, I have no doubt about it. The band and the arrangements are also insane! They are absolutely amazing. Everything sounds spectacular, mixed to perfection and sang with soul. Please never stop sharing your gift, we need it especially now in times like these 💜

I love this, as always like other songs, but I try to learn Māori from Stan Walker, through his songs! That's a way I could learn Māori from! I'm just not sure which words to be able to recall when I need them, but I can try right? Māori sounds so amazing because of Stan! And the Levites are awesome! Aroha to ya Stan! 🥰
