Aside from talent, what got me so addicted with Regine is her passion. Despite her age of nearly 50, she is still fearless. She always aims for a “Wow!” perf whether her voice is there or not. And I think THAT is inspiring! Can u understand why PH became a “Regine Country” for a decade or more, with that passion paired with her flawless strong voice in the 90s? She released songs hit after hit after hit. Her movies and concerts are all sold out coz if u check towards the end of the vid after she made us cry and emotional with her singing she made the audience laugh with her wit. Another 3days sold out concert, I flew all the way from HK to see her and it was SO WORTH IT! 🙌

I don't understand why people say that Lea was TECHNICALLY better than Regine on this song. Dynamics, vocal riffs and runs, talk-singing (which is so hard to pull off without getting out of breath or pitch), cresendo/decresendo, and abrupt shifting from one vocal technique/register/texture to another ARE ALL PART OF THE TECHNICALITY of a performance. Regine wasn't pitchy either.

I'm a fan of both, and both sang the song superbly but I prefer Regine's version (not just "because she's the Song Bird!!" haha sorry RVA diehards). I have a feeling Lea didn't watch Gaga in the movie because she didn't give enough emotions needed for the song. Very clear words and pitch perfect but it didn't move me much. Regine (who tweeted she's now a fan of Gaga so I'm assuming she watched her) on the other hand, though her voice is no longer the same as before, knew exactly what story she wanted to tell through this song. You’re right because in all honestly who are we kidding, Regine is more Technically superb, skillful, and nuanced than Lea. Regine is known for clean singing - no sharps no flats no cracks in her concerts. Of course Lea can sound technically perfect because her rendition was so safe, it was almost like a karaoke version of the original with nothing else to differentiate it except for enunciation. It’s like gymnastics or figure skating. Anyone can hit a double Axel perfectly but only Midori Ito can hit a triple Axel just as enormous without being sloppy. So who gets the higher score?

I just saw from an interview recently, when Regine was asked about her-doing the Miss Saigon (she received a letter about her supposed training for the said musical after she auditioned) and did not pushed thru, aside from she cannot live without her family in the Philippines, she also mentioned that she CANNOT SING AND ACT THE SAME SONG OVER & OVER & OVER AGAIN on stage in each of every show. I just thank God she came back to the Philippines because of this decision and inspired a lot of people like me, like for more than a decade she help me get thru life with her music and all. ❤️ #justsayin

This is the most heartfelt, emotional rendition of the two songs for me. Maybe because as I listen to her singing it, I know and I feel that she was dedicating it to her father. I think this was her first concert since her father passed away. I'm crying with her. The best.

Lea’s limited vocal ability makes it seem like hers has more clarity when in reality it’s due to the lack of nuances. Lea cant seem to vary the tone of her voice, from one to another, and within a song. Her very conspicuous vibrato stays consistent throughout the song, but not by choice. That’s simply her loudest and most utmost effort. That she cannot do a real belt also limits her and when tries to do a fake belt, which is her headvoice with lots of vibrato to increase the volume, it differs not from how she sang the first stanza. That’s why her limited vocal ability and her attempt to compensate for this is what gets mistaken for clarity.
*Lea was like telling a story of two lovers. While Regine, on the other hand, is really one of the lovers and telling their story.*

I just saw from an interview recently, when Regine was asked about her-doing the Miss Saigon (she received a letter about her supposed training for the said musical after she auditioned) and did not pushed thru, aside from she cannot live without her family in the Philippines, she also mentioned that she CANNOT SING AND ACT THE SAME SONG OVER & OVER & OVER AGAIN on stage in each of every show. I just thank God she came back to the Philippines because of this decision and inspired a lot of people like me, like for more than a decade she help me get thru life with her music and all. ❤️ #justsayin

I would like to respond to Ovela's statement about Lea merely doing a cover of the song and not taking risks or making it different. True. This is her identity. Even in The Voice PH, she teaches her artists not to change the song too much, because it heightens the risk of highlighting the singer, instead of the song. During the performance, the audience should appreciate the song, and the singer after. I think this is why she sang the song in a very straight forward manner.

On the other hand i had been to Regine's multiple times, that woman is oustanding. Different attack but both queens. Fan of these women. The future generations should look up to.

I absolutely adore Lea and i had close encounter with Regine, she's gay and funny and not always pitch perfect all the time which is normal. They're different but great in their own field.

This is the most heartfelt, emotional rendition of the two songs for me. Maybe because as I listen to her singing it, I know and I feel that she was dedicating it to her father. I think this was her first concert since her father passed away. I'm crying with her. The best.

Lea’s limited vocal ability makes it seem like hers has more clarity when in reality it’s due to the lack of nuances. Lea cant seem to vary the tone of her voice, from one to another, and within a song. Her very conspicuous vibrato stays consistent throughout the song, but not by choice. That’s simply her loudest and most utmost effort. That she cannot do a real belt also limits her and when tries to do a fake belt, which is her headvoice with lots of vibrato to increase the volume, it differs not from how she sang the first stanza. That’s why her limited vocal ability and her attempt to compensate for this is what gets mistaken for clarity.
