This band is one of my favorite all time. Been listening to them since 1987 and saw 'em my first time Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1989. I was a junior in high school. Then saw them in Lubbock, TX in 1993. Slayer headlined the tour " Clash of the Titans" Megadeth, Anthrax, and Alice In Chains.
The Slayer we all know. The original lineup Araya, King, Hanneman and Lombardo (double bass master)
Seen Slayer in '85, '86, '88, '90, '91 three times, '94 twice, 2008, 2010, 2015, 2018, they never disappoint.
I started seeing them in '88, only cause of my age and my mom would not let me go to a concert until then, but I can see that you are a huge fan like me and wish that they wouldn't have retired yet. But I love SLAYER so much, that I have their logo tattooed ony right arm....damn I miss FUCKING SLAYER!!!!!!
My first was in Cash of the Titans.

Lol, and this is arguably the most "tame" live version of this out there. But, it still separates your face from your skull. And, you can really hear the Punk flavor in this, and why most Thrash/Speed Metal bands were/are into Punk Rock. But, DAMN I miss this stuff in American Metal...it's all over the place nowadays.
The reference to Back to the Future when Marty was in front of the huge speaker and was blown back! Epic stuff ! And yes that's exactly what you experience at a Slayer concert! And Dave Lombardo is absolutely the fastest double bass player ever! And he was doing it back in the early 80s.. Paved the road for the future of the metal drummers!

Most of those cabs are empty boxes.
Seen this band twice in '04 and '06 and the second time was the closest I got to dying at a concert. You had to be in shape or battle-hardened when you went to a Slayer gig, their fans are brutal. No safe place, mosh pits forming everywhere. And of course, the band killed it both times. Slipknot could not follow them in '04, the crowd was totally exhausted!
I fucklng cried because i seen these guys for the first and last time on their Ralegh NC stop of the Final command tour and they tore shit up

Last show of theirs I saw in that breakdown, grooving riff part me and like 5 people I didn't even know all put our arms around each other and forget headbanged we full body banged in time to the music.
After I listen to Reign in Blood, I actually have to rest. That album is a fucking onslaught!

I remember when I bought the Slayer, Reign in Blood tape in like 88 or something as a young metelhead teenager and the salesman needed to confirm I actually wanted that and wasn't making a mistake or something.
Slayer makes the dude look like he's about to be in a car accident :D If you can dissect their music and see what Slayer has put together, how could you not say that they were musical geniuses in every facet of their music?
