Unfortunately the lack of big updates killed the game, the talented people were hired by big rival companies and they don't implement things from the mod community that have so many people doing great maps, weapons, attachments etc... its frustating in the end.

Man you rock! Only one gripe with Insurgency for casuals such as myself - I think new games could do with a feature 6 days in Fallujah has, where it randomly generates completely new structures from the previous. That way no one is rehearsed in the map like it’s their backyard.
agreed as a longtime player honestly. it gets old fast, especially on maps like hideout where you can snipe the first attacking spawn with ease. common angles get old. switching it up would make a truly dynamic experience, and players who adapt and learn quick should be rewarded with mass kills when finding new angles, that's just called skill. the old maps and ways are just set in stone and it gets stale.

This game is giving what the people want yet marketing doesn't want this game to be big otherwise this shit would be the new wave of fps, this is the love child of rainbow, csgo, and battlefield with mechanics as it's signature strong point. The graphics still compete with cod in fluidity on a ps5

If a sequel comes out (if ever?!), these things need to be fixed / be more realistic (to name a few examples): 1. Recoil patterns made (somewhat) independent from the camera (because that on it's own can't simulate realistic patterns). Main reason the FA meta exists in Sandstorm. 2. Optics not just being a texture/sprite pasted centerscreen, but actually simulated. 3. Height over bore.
I always tell my friends that if we didn’t live in such a competitive capitalist world we could see several big game studios take their strongest aspects and work together to make a perfect mega game. If there were an fps, I would have this team responsible for gunplay.
If we had competitive capitalism we would get that. There’s nothing competitive about the system we have where some people can choose who joins and who doesn’t.
I am playing this game again after hiatus for more than a year in 2022, I don't know why I enjoyed this game more now than CoD, BF, and MoH. The other FPS game that I enjoyed playing and make me played Insurgency again are the old game Rainbow Six Vegas both 1 & 2 and Operation Flashpoint series. I've tried Arma too but that game was complex and need a lot of thinking, Insurgency for me are the borderline between the fast paced of CoD/BF and the strategic thinking of Arma but not too complicated just like Rainbox Six and Operation Flashpoint.

The only thing I dislike about the gunplay in Sandstorm is that the hip-fire/point firing is kinda fucked. Even low-recoil weapons like 9mm smgs are unrealistically uncontrollable. It feels as if your character has taken the weapon out of their shoulder, and is just holding it out in front of them. Not saying it should be Tarkov-levels of point fire (Where point-fire is basically stronger than ADS), but just a little bit more under control.
Yo GIBS would you consider working with Shane and others to set up a permanent custom server to showcase modded maps (coastline, mud village, diplomacy, sultan of drugs?)
When do you think we're going to hear anything about a new game? I'm itching for something updated, everything else is going huge combined arms (squad, OHD, etc), PVE only, or CallOfDuty. There's really no other infantry focused games available with realistic TTK available out there.

Sandstorm has the most satisfying gunplay IMO, you have to actually think and not call of duty charge into the objective like a mad man.
