Yup, it's the same thing as a self-threading needle. I just call it a double eyed needle because that's how I sew with it. I use both holes. I don't use the slit to "self-thread" so it doesn't get worn down. That way I can sew with the thread through both holes without it coming out. I find sewing with the thread through 2 holes keeps it tangling better.

In your sewing vid you show a double eye needle. Is this different than a self-threading needle? And if so, where do you buy the double eye needle?
