Great review. I have yet to purchase from the UK as the shipping is so high, however, there are more and more bottles that I simply cannot find in the United States. You have encouraged me to give it a try and one of the bottles will likely be the Ledaig (Assuming it is available). Thanks again! Keep up the great reviews!
I am with you. Your best bet is to wait until you have 6 bottles and order them at the same time to try and keep the cost spread out. That being said, I have gotten bottles from overseas for less than they would be here, even with the shipping. Gotta pick your spots. Cheers!
Happy to hear this is a 9 as I've got an unopened bottle stashed away and still haven't tried yet. Now wondering if I can hold off until next Xmas! Cheers.
I would definitely say it is a bit of a Christmas-y dram but I don't tend to discriminate! I hope when you do try it, that you enjoy it as much as I have!
When I first tried the Ledaig 18 I had it side by side with the old batched version and I did not necessarily connected with either of them. A year and a lot of 'how can you not like it' s later I gave it another shot and damn I'm a believer! Nice one Brian cheers 🥃
Some of the best decisions I have made have been shoving a bottle as far back in the cabinet as I can and coming back to it later! I'm glad you were able to find some enjoyment out of this one. Cheers!
Agreed! This is a great value even after having to buy it from the UK and get it shipped. I get a unique engine oil/mechanical note that sets it apart from Islay whiskies. I enjoy drinking this alongside a Port Charlotte, Laphroaig, or Ardbeg to appreciate the differences.
Had purchased one at Christmas and after your review I’m ordering another one. Haven’t had it ever. Crazy but in these times with scotch prices going up as often as the housing market I’m trying to get as many bottles that may be out of reach soon.Within reason. Talisker 18, Tamdhu 18 and many others have just gone past the reasonable point. I can’t justify paying for one bottle and missing out on two bottles of the likes of Ledaig 18 for the same price.
Hope you enjoy it! I am with you on getting a second bottle when you can. I just did that with a single cask Loch Lomond because I don't know when I can get another one and I have been really enjoying it!
@@WhiskyUncorkedOk came you help me choose my next purchase? Here are my options: Option1)Ancnoc 24 & Glen Garioch 17 2)Ledaig 18, Bunnahabhain 18 3)Ledaig 18, Tamdhu 18
@@SaltyCuban Wow, those are some great choices. If I could pick any combo I would say the Ancnoc 24 and Ledaig 18. If the options listed are the only possibilities, I would go with 'B' although I haven't had the Tamdhu 18, only the 15, so I am basing my thought on that.
@@WhiskyUncorked Thank you. You’ve helped me make my decision. I am hesitant to pay for a bottle the price of two bottles. But Ancnoc 24 seems to be well regarded for the most part. Also probably the last time a 24 yr old will be at these prices. It’s almost the same price as a Bunna 18 or a Tamdhu 18. Frankly I think the latter are overpriced. Already they’re charging 350 plus for Bunna 18 in my area. The Ledaig 18 funny enough I have a bottle of but haven’t had it. So many love it and it’s at such a good price I guess I should stash another one. It’s terrible that I’m buying mostly based on what’s going to likely be out of reach for me than just regular curiosity. Crazy times for us drinkers/collectors

That is a great strategy for truly understanding how whiskies can differ, especially when heavily peated. Cheers!

Great review! Was wondering what year or the bottling date of your bottle? Just ordered one and curious if we have the same year
If the last 5 digits on the laser code is the date, they are 2320X (I cant make out the last digit).
$150 CDN bought a case, wont stay at that price for long.
