- ANC national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, has pushed back at the demand for a 50% youth representation, made by the party's youth wing. The ANC Youth League has been calling for more younger MPs to be deployed. Duduzile Ramela speaks to ANCYL President Collen Malatji.

Calling for more young MPs is blowing hot air. We must start with the likes of Malatji, Nompendulo Mkhatshwa. What have they achieved other than to toe the party line. Collen Malatji must not come here and insult our intelligence.

Although he (Mantashe) needs to have retired by now, I do see the point in his argument. The ANC youth in recent times have dismally failed to prove themselves as credible leaders. Apart being shown flames by EFF youth, they need to first demonstrate their leadership capability by making an ANC youth league a believable and trusted organization.

Gwede Mantashe is out of context, precisely because the ANC Youth League and SASCO are loosing campuses because the ANC is NOT supporting them and indeed cannot resolve NSFAS issues on reasonable time.
