@@jabressdolath7657 True, but the company behind Holmes On Homes and Holmes himself can get sued by said contractor. But I do agree with you, bad contractors should be exposed, and even a website that shows all the bad contractors, so people stay away from them. Even with pictures of the faces of the contractors, so if the contractors decide to rename their business, they can't escape being exposed because their faces would be shown.
Yes exactly This needs to be done to warn others of this disgusting company This company should be deregistered and not allowed to open another business under another name
My guess is that the "big bathroom" company takes the money and farms out the jobs to any contractor that will accept their price. the main company may have half a dozen employees, but thousands of piece workers that may or may not have any skill. If your name is on the line, you MUST at least inspect the work and weed out the bad contractors. It's called due diligence.
The work done didn't have permits, because permits REQUIRES INSPECTION BY THE COUNTY/STATE. and if they didn't have it INSPECTION you DO NOT PAY. The inspection has to be given to homeowners to get paid by law.
@@CynthiaRockroth If what you say is true, that would be great. And, if that is true, how do these crooked contractors manage to terrorize the people they rip off? I would hope that putting a lien on a person's propety would require that they show they are entitled to the payment. That would be hard to do if no permits or passed inspections exist.
Watching these fixes you do is awesome, but I'm sure we'd all like to see some retribution or follow up on the original builder and what the court says
No, they explained that in Canadian law, the defendant (homeowner who is being sued by the original bathroom company) can show/prove/bring in witnesses to demonstrate why, actually, the company bringing the suit against her owes HER money... (they never get into that part, but I have a feeling that Mike goes to court on behalf of quite a few of the homeowners he helps and supplies a lot of evidence on the shoddy work these rip-off companies do)... But anyway, suing them back isn't necessary. A very nice nice and handy legal option!
@ no actually im not a troll and clearly she got what she paid for and she just wanted a free reno so she blamed them when shes to blame not the contractor
@@delyn13 How is the homeowner to blame for the poor and potentially dangerous work the contractor did, like the electrical problems? Or the removal of the vapor barrier, or exhausting the fan into the attic instead of out the roof or side of house?
Mr. Holmes I have a situation that there’s mode in my furnace and I’m concerned that it might be in the ductwork. Could it also travel into my walls and ceiling and what do I do about that? Our furnace is about 11 to 12 years old. Hopefully you’ll see this and live in San Antonio, Texas USA never had a situation like this. Kind of says to me that my furnace was not ventilated if I’m not incorrect. I’ve had different houses throughout my 54 years of being married please please help thank you.
I think that the bathroom company sub contracted the bathroom. Like Lowes and Home Depot sub out installations and you really don't know what you're going to get, because those companies set yhe price, not ghe sub contactor. So the sub only does whst they feel they're getting paid.
Oh no.... I hate tiled countertops! Marble or not! I hope the homeowner doesn't hate them too! Also, most women really need the mirror over the vanity lowered quite a bit! The one in my bathroom is too high, my face is in the bottom 5th of the mirror, and I can't see my neck. Who needs a mirror hung where the top is 8 feet high? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Mike, and what he does for people! But he does need more input from women on things where he just doesn't think. Actually, this is a pretty old episode, when Sean was his go to guy and not Damon, so maybe he learned since then.
The grout on a tiled countertop always gets nasty at some point, I agree I guess they were out of time but I'd rather a nice laminate counter than anything tile.
This is where I wish the show could name and shame, just for how poorly they treated the client, in addition to the shoddy workmanship
Have to be real careful since you are only getting one side of the story.
@Cheepchipsable
Yeah, but they could say, this company was the one who was contracted to do the original work. There is no lie there

I hope the team gave her a copy of all of the work they did so she can countersue. She will take them to the cleaners
What a beautiful bathroom!
The best Injustice System that money can buy!
The homeowner should sue the original company.
She did, thats why her lawyer spoke on the show. Thats her lawyer.

Stop giving these companies down payments. If they have no capital. The hell with them
The number of scammers who face no consequences is why I'll never let a contractor in.
Mike. I need you to sort out my bathroom. 2 sets of builders have messed it up. What a pity you don't work in South Africa!
Could you do more before and after? Like the one today when you’re clearing out for the fruit trees.
Now how do they get the original contractor to leave her alone and stop harassing her because all the work had to be redone ?
that scam company has to be shutdown and the owner put in prison

Why don't they put the big reno companies on camera?
Because the company can be sued.
They reno'd the entire bathroom, but re-used the awful sink. Bad decision, in my opinion.
Mike didn't
This aired twenty years ago - it probably didn't look nearly as 'dated' at the time.
the sink was new, that's just what was popular at time of filming and this episode is old

Yup this show is around 20 years old.
Anyone who is moderately good at diy could have done a better job. Very poor quality work by the 'bathroom specialists '.
