This simply demonstrates how capable the Atari chipset was...it was so quickly overshadowed by the Atari ST and poor advertising that the hardware potential was not at all realized till decades later. The same can be said about many short lived machines such as the Vectrex. A fantastic looking game.
@@rayzorwilson5569 Well they were. They came out in 1979 and only after some serious competition by C64 Atari stop suing third party software companies from writing and selling games for this platform.
Great game and awesome to see on the 800. I would love to see the creator use this engine for some other games (or even a single level demo) that never came out on the Atari, like 'Batman the Movie', 'Shadow of the beast'....
Hi, take the big stars in scene 1-1 at time index 0,56 and in scene 1-2 at time index 2,58 for bonus round 1. Take the big stars in scene 2-1 at time index 4,48 and in scene 2-2 at time index 6,01 for bonus round 2. Regards, basicgamelover.
The cloud/snow level look absolutely beautiful!

The Atari 8-bits came out in the 70's, they weren't short lived.

Graphics is amazing!
Even if the pixel resolution is less than the NES, it still manages to do things the NES never could, like the transparent water.
The NES could do transparent water by switching palettes midframe
Paralax scrolling and transparent water on 8 bit Atari? WTF
+krokeman If only they didnt add so much damned flicker. Maybe if they hadn't had to have those spinning stars..
Did you try it on real hardware? I don't think it flickers too much.
It's the youtube 30fps capture/playback, it should look much better in real life 50/60fps.
amazing what 8 bit atari can do!
But 128 kB is needed
@@atariretrofan still the same chip set running the show tho. If more mem is needed then so be it. Its worth it to get better games im sure 😀
it's so colorfull, how is this even possible?
Thanks for interest.
I have one more longplay. It was too long to upload it to youtube, so I tried another video webpage.

Best platformer on Atari 800 ever seen!!
Albert could be a contender graphics wise, tho it's playability is limited.
