I agree with your assessment of the Blaze ski but not the Tour 12 plate binding. It was my first touring set up. It is heavy because you lift the plate and the heel with every step. More important is the pivot point is not as effective or efficient as a pin tech binding. The Marker Duke PT or Salomon Shift bindings are a better choice. Both are lighter and allow the boot to be lower and closer to the ski when skiing down. The pin toe is more efficient on the accent. Just the opinion of a ski shop technician who has toured on the equipment at Alta, Utah, USA.
