Hi
"Their heads pop from a mile away" I mean, that's what happens when you go to war with a bright orange helmet😂
Not the most tactical decision they have made.
@@ThatguywhoplaysSlaanesh-ih3gm I'd say it's *very* tactical. Horrible tactics, though.
#SuicideSquad
Just think how dumb it would be for a ninja to wear a bright orange outfit, could never be stealthy
I actually prefer the "just some fellas" factions in 40k, because they're just some fellas in war with demigods...and they manage to attain some degree of success against all odds and common sense. Just feels like the strength of the human spirit is still present when facing down cosmic horrors, like a good horror story.
Not a fan of Skittles traitor guard, I think these sculpts really benefit from a more sinister and drab scheme
Thats amazing timing! I was literally JUST assembling my Blooded Kill Team & priming my blackstone fortress traitor guard as you posted this lol! Excellent stuff, love to see traitor guard shine and become represented!
Cool stuff, I've been repainting my Vraks guys and I think this has turned me to a brighter scheme
I don't I know if your can or not legally, but your music is just close enough to the OOT soundtrack to make me think it is and then get disappointed that it isn't...
I feel like they're ripe for some light conversion with more esoteric weaponry and augmentation. It's a cool kit. Thanks for sharing.
“I am a super augmented warrior designed for war”
“I’m Jeff …. Got a lasgun and a lot of optimism. Bout it really”
Evey EOB painting vid
"I dont like these minis so imma just start painting"
10 mins later
"I love these these minis, i hope they beat shawn"
"
The motivation speech at the beginning could probably have been summed up as "What makes me motivated to paint my miniatures is that I can try using them to beat Shawn" 😁
I think traitor guard is a cool concept that needs books from their prospective. What motivates a normal man to devote himself to the dark gods? How does he see himself in the context of the imperium? Does he generate the emperor as another aspect of the warp or does reject the judgement of carrion? There’s a lot of potential there.
when life is shit I really like watching your videos to feel better
How about Kasrkin remake? Those 3 colors video was interesting but I want see your profi painting on our elite boys :)
if you want a story featuring Imperial Navy navy try the short story Ciaphas Cain: Dead in the Walter, some good use of boats in there with a great Cain story to boot
I put some Speed Paint on my wet palette and it basically exploded sending tendrils crawling across a good 2 inches.
I want this because I love normal dudes, but I'm no heretic to I'm gonna kitbash them into veteran guardsmen who have been surviving on a nurgle infested world constantly being hunted by pox walkers
Side note, guardsmen can retire as commissar yarrick's uncle was a retired guardsman
'Hey sarge do we really have to go into battle with these spiky metals all over us? They chafe and they keep getting stuck into things.'
'Yes the spikes are mandatory for Traitor Guardsmen you must be fully spiked up at all times.'
'But whys that sarge? I don't see any practi...
'BECAUSE WE'RE BLOODY CHAOS THAT'S WHY!!'
How dare you even think chaos is stronger than the imperium of man, the inquisition will hear of this
“Grab that half of indomitus”… as my mostly unpainted Necrons from that box stare at me opening leviathan…I feel attacked
I'm wrapping up a slapchop style on my blooded and I think it really suits them. my dry brush was a bit chalky and rough but it gives them a cool grim shadowy look which is great for a horde of traitors imo
Glad to see you using more speedpaints! I love them!
If a hockey team joined the Ruinous Powers :D
What do I do if all the stuff I’ve not got round to painting is already sat at the primed/basecoated stage 😅
They feel like muted version of your DG color scheme. They look great!
The helmet colour would look really cool and some necromuda guys body armour
Love the pale skin, any tips on the formula used? Noticed that was the one area skipped over in the video.
They give of "followers of Tzeentch" vibes in that colour scheme.
Yeah, I get your idea about blooded being just soldiers. I painted my in colors of 512th Cadian, basically light grey armor and dark grey cloth
So a eob marine kill team soon maybe
HELL YEA! I think I've been asking for this every video since you did the Poll
Christ bless you, an interesting way to paint these guys thanks for showing
this is why we let him cook! great scheme and totally unexpected.
Make the Blood Pact
how do i get those trenches? I want to start a Gaunt Ghost campaign but i am not really getting it how to buy those files!
As a traitor guard player, love the scheme man!
Awesome! Really bad timing though as I’ve just put my Blooded KT up for sale!!
Awesome work! This dudes also work great for Blackstone Fortress... If you are into that...
Jay gonna put them in a sock and have a swing at Sean.
So.
Cool.
You make it look so easy.
Kudos.
I almost bought this kill team, myself. I want a traitor army to display but ... I dunno.
Guardsman can totally retire! They may never make it there, but they CAN retire! They are dropped off on an agriworld or something. Or sent to be trainers.
The Ciaphus Cain novels have excerpts from a retired guardsman!
The priming is the biggest painting deterrent for me. I live in Texas so most of the time the weather outside is not great and then I have to buy the rattlecans. I hate it. The painting past the priming is not too bad for me.
Dont know i always prefer valleijo over army painter... ad i have no and will not have a drybrush so i work with my normal brusches and i love absolutely love drybrusch even after washes beacause it gets back the matte of the color
just a question wondering if anybody could help, what should i use to apply grass tuffs any advice would be appreciated thanks
Please do some drukari please
you forgot da bobots / tau
Heretical nerf darts.
Sorry nice paint job, but still like how GW did it
Well we now know the answer is a resounding "No."
when you started to paint the blue armor they kinda looked like nerf darts. very heretical nerf darts
I swear jay never misses
Yeah it sucks
i was here
First. Great videos. Keep up the great work
"im also not a huge fan of the way games workshop painted these guys..."
Yep, toally agree. They arent dark and grim enough...
"They are very very dark and its hard to see the details"
Oh, umm... Urh... whats that I hear, someone knocking at the door?...
take care brush your hair
I’m sorry but in my opinion they look like the LGBTQ rainbow squad after what you did to them. 😂 They would make me laugh to death on the battle field.
Personally I think GWs traitor guard look great in GWs style (yah know without military personnel whose helmets are the color of the sun. smh)
They’re so camp, which is something 40K definitely could use more of
Rare lame Jay paintjob. For once GW actually did a better job with painting these guys, looking much cooler.
not enough contrast between the skin, clothing and armour imo. But hey - they're still game ready!
Pretty rude and egotistical of you to knock in someone else’s paint job and straight up just call it “trash”. To be honest the GW is actually better than your’s lmfao.
Ikr his style of painting is way too tryhard and honestly looks pretty shit. Eavy metal just looks so much better than his stupid offbrand paint schemes
Love how the reason he doesn't like guard is the reason I like them.
"Just normal fellas"
Yeah, normal fellas facing the worst the universe has to offer and holding the line and I think that's pretty neat.
For Ten thousand years they have held that line.
I really respect that faith and stoic attitude against the horrors of the galaxy. I’m a huge blood angels fan because while they have two gene flaws and really are in a low point after the siege of Baal. They are tragic but still are filled with hope even amongst the horror around them so I can definitely understand the love for guardsmen. The vehicles they use are by far some of the most beautiful and for my guardsmen it’s a lot of cool infantry sure but many many hellhounds, leman Russ punishers, rogal dorm battle tanks, and a stormlord because rule of cool
He disrespected all of my imperial guards minis with that one line!
Every "normal dude" that kills a egyption robot or glowing sword wielding freak is a win.
That is pretty much the appeal of Imperial Guard. Punching up against the horrors of the 40K setting.
Thing is that Imperial Guardsman might have gotten one Necron down it was the one that got back up that killed them.
@@chestersleezer8821nah throw enough plasma and a las cannon and you can duck 🦆 some guys up

PLEASE do the Thousand Sons Kill Team next!!!
Thousand Sons player here: Yes.
Seconded
I just started thousand son yes
Yessssss
Oh I would love to see Jays Warpcoven 😮
I prefer the chaos renegade militia as they look grim and vile, I wish forgeworld would bring back the conversion kits.
FW used to make such amazing kits that are now lost to us. It's a shame.
@@marcwittkowski5146theres re casts out there on a site called black legion market. Haven’t orders them myself so I can speak on their quality but figured I’d mention it.
Dont worry, u cant paint them either. The traitor guard is a well organized and equiped fighting force not a bunch of street thugs
Quite the contrary, the traitor guard are VERY unorganised, with entire regiments operating independently
@@danitron4096 of course, there are such assets like u described, but again, there are many that are an equivalent to the Imperial guard, or even a better fighting force, bc thry are not held down by the warring high ups and have generals who were fed up with the bureaucracy of the imperium, instead they wanted to wage war like it is supposted to
Blood pact, ghe cadian renegades, there are many such examples, they form the core of the traitor forces, and the usually fo command mindless hords of mutants and madmen, but tha traitor GUARD is not them
I really really REALLY don't like them.
Instead of having to modify and kitbash a normal IG-army, i would pay full price for a GW-made Chaos Renegade Army with tanks, flyers and everything.
Wargames Atlantic just finished their crowdfunding campaign to essentially release an entire Chaos Renegade army in plastic. The kits should be available in under a year, as they gave May 2024 as their worstcase scenario for a release timeline.
somewhere in Warhammer 40k the IS boats, well in Warhammer 33K to be fair. One of the early War of the Beast books is about a planet with a regular navy fending off Orks. But considering how slow technology evolves, and often evolves backwards in 40k, there should still be a fair few planets with navies.
There's mention of boats in 40k; Fire Caste and some of the Last Chancers books I'm pretty sure?
@@Fisthammet I'll have to check them out :). I really like it when sci-fi settings like 40k have such normal things as boats, it often makes for engaging stories with normal boats in a crazy sci-fi world.
There were some imperial water-naval forces in Flesh and Iron. I know the book has its tarnished honor, but it does show how the imperium fields boats and nautical ships.
The "Decepticons = Liarcheaters" thing is hilarious
I gotta say, Im not a fan of this paint job... but it's not my kill team, you do you boo boo....
Sorry but these look terrible.....I agree that gw version is not great but these don't even look chaosey anymore.
Nice Video, I painted my guys up just like the GW style and thought you were going to end up making the TG too garish but I was really impressed by your results.
I prefer my guys but I like how you mixed it up and changed my expectations.
Big fan of "normal dudes". What's the scale of all the epic space supermonsters if there's no normal dudes to crush underfoot? what is it there to compare?
Besides, I'm more of a hard sci-fi RPG guy really, so I'm biased towards the kind of minis that could represent my player's PCs or their enemies. So these guys, regular guardsmen, genestealer cults, all look great for human mercenaries, mutant, marines (of the "not 40k" kind) cultists, mutants, etc. Are just great.
is this a clown-show?
Do you see any harlequins? Solitaire?
Not even a Death Jester about
Clearly not a clown show sir
first comment
love your vids, keep it up
Not a fan of the color scheme but I can respect your effort in trying something new.
Great job Jay. Really like the way you can turn around what might seem a chore into something fun and really good
They fit in really well with your Plague Marines, too!
How this channel doesnt have a bigger sub count I will never know ! every video is a banger
The armor looks the death guard armor that jay painted when he was drunk
"Good bad whos to say" Basically Jay your painting Reneged Guard as apposed to Traitor Guard.
Right because pink and orange and blue is a great color scheme are you for real
Christ bless you, ngl I have never seen a traitor guard before so thank you
im into the idea of traitor guard because of the game darktide, hopefully we'll see a more grimdark looking traitor guard from EoD in a year or two
While I know this is a bit outdated, the Traitor Guard in DoW Retribution looked the same as the normal Imperial Guard. From a strategic point of view, (not that there is much of one in 40k) It would make sense for entire regiments leaving the Imperium to still look the same. That would greatly increase their chances of survival because they would blend in with the trillions of other Guardsman.
I do love how opposite we are in terms of what excites us. I love “normal dudes” in fantastical settings. GW worlds are rife with so much weirdness that it becomes the norm and is boring.
those orange helmets make them almost look like star wars rebels! great work!
A purple coat/overly stylish enforcer is actually pretty canon believe it or not. Varan from the Cain books is a chaos general who dresses pretty over the top
As a imperial guard player, I agree with the thumbnail
When you painted the helmets orange I thought you were going to paint them up as penal legion guard but then with the chaotic additions.
"Normal dudes" is an interesting take. These were some of my favorite minis from GW since the cursed city box
Hey Jay. Who is involved with your channel? It seems like Nick does a lot of stuff having to do with making STLs and 3D printing, as well as some painting and building here and there. And you've also mentioned a couple buddies of yours, like Sean. Is Sean part of the channel, or does he just play games with you once in awhile?
My favorite thing is when artists take warhammer grimdark and make it wholesome with art! I love the original dark evil colors BUT it is a fresh to the eyes seeing different colorful art, a example is nekona.
*Brother Decimus loads his stalker bolt rifle* "These heads *pop* from a mile away.
He said lascannon when it's clearly a lasGUN !! Get him!!!
The stationforge proxy ones are muuuch cooler than the gw ones. You should take a look
I really don’t see the whole “oh but they’re just normal guys” argument as valid, in fact I prefer guard over any other faction, they’re so much more relatable and in such of an out of control universe they kind of provide an anchor so things don’t go spiraling out of control, and generally for me the guard provides much more immersion than other less realistic factions
i need the song where he paints the Ogryn. pleeeaaaasee....
So they fell to Slaanesh though the slight bluish tinge to them might suggest Tzeentch.
