i think one of the biggest improvements they definitely did with the core refresh dolls was the silhouette for each of them. as a arts and design student, silhouette can really help create a more interesting character. in the og gen 3, all of them wear skirts/shorts above their knees. but in the core refresh, they have different lengths for bottoms. same goes with their hair, almost all of them have their hair down in the og gen 3. but in the core refresh, there's more hairstyle variety and accessories that help define their silhouette design
One of my biggest issues with the first core dolls was that they all wear shorts and skirts, like can a ghoul not wear pants??😭 I LOVE lagoonas new pants, I wish clawdeens were a little longer and baggier towards the bottom cuffs but I still love her new outfit so much. Cleo is definitely the best out of the refresh dolls she’s so perfect in every way
I am so excited for the next wave of reproductions..Nefra is like one of my all time favorites..I can never find one worth buying.. also think g3 is starting to really hit! Every doll is beautiful now
I liked the pets in the 1st G3, the I Coffins, jackets, and foods. Especially Tut, Rocksenna, Crescent, Sweet Fangs, Perseus etc. Core Refresh is the dolls, hair, fashion, accessories, shoes and the bags.

The first wave were definitely cute , but they were younger cutesy vibe. The refresh dolls I feel like are giving a slightly more mature darker vibe that is truer to their original G1 aesthetics. I definitely prefer their new styles over the first wave!
Man those rankings were spicy I love it. Honestly core refresh is such a step up in my opinion. I have all of them but Clawdeen as they can do my girl better than that personally. My ranking has followed is determined by how much of the outfit I love and if I would change anything #5 Clawdeen. Clawdeen is one of my favorite characters and yes this core refresh is better than her original doll, but Gen three it doesn’t save her for me personally. I really which her pants went all the way down and flared out as well as her jacket only having fur on the cuffs and on the collar. I feel like that would have sent this doll. I also wish they used more gold. The teal feels like an after thought. #4 Frankie. I see where they were going with this, but they could have done a bit better. I love that everyone is giving Frankie a raccoon tail that’s so fun and such a scene kid thing to do. Honestly the long pants and shorts would have been better for this look even though it’s been used a million times. I don’t like the pink strip, but the raccoon tail makes me enjoy them more. #3 Lagoona. This is a huge improvement to me. I did not enjoy original gen three Lagoona, but now she’s super cute. Love the pants. Love the sea horse necklace. Love the hair. It feels so much how a redesign of Lagoona of Gen one would be. It really made me appreciate her a lot more. I honestly wouldn’t change much about her. Maybe a different pair of shoes but that’s honestly minor. #2 Cleo. She is just a queen and I love it. This to me is the best gen three Cleo to date. No other ones compare she is the moment. Love her shoes, love the snake, love the choker and love the hair. I do wish however she had brown or black hair. I feel like that would have made her unstoppable. Like still use the blue and gold highlights but the base is black or brown. That would have been incredible. #1 Draculaura. I would change absolutely nothing about this doll. This was my first gen three doll. I was on the fence about monster high a lot. Had a lot of talks with my partner. We even had a whole talk about why I didn’t like the first version of Drac for Gen three, but this one? Expectations were high and I adore her. She’s everything I wanted Gen three Drac to be. She is perfect. Nothing about her in a flaw. I am picky with my Dracs and she is still the only gen three Drac I own. I love her a lot ❤️ Great video! Love the long format videos a lot 😊

CORE Drac Wil always be my favourite play line doll regardless of how much prettier her other dolls are because she was my very first monster high doll and the whole reason i discovered the franchise and now have a small but over growing collection.
Omg Nefera is my FAVORITE MH doll from G1. She is so gorgeous. I bought her as soon as she released in stores. Her entire character design just slays. I also love the "big sister" body mold. It's so toned and athletic, but still curvy. ⚜️🪲🩵💙🩵🪲⚜️
I do wish they toned down how bright & saturated lagoona is, i know they wont change her skintone now but i just dont like the overly brigbt saturated pink it clashes with the cool pastel blue & also makes her look like shes just a white girl with a sunburnt skin
yess i love that you point out how the refresh line has fuller lips! it was bothering me how underfilled their lips were compared to the size of their actual lips of their head mold. i think this alone makes all their faces look better in the Refresh. also a big fan of the longer necks, so now everyone can wear jackets and necklaces without losing their neck! my Refresh ranking: 1. Frankie (giving scene kid Beetleguese realness and makeup is stunning) 2. Cleo (literal perfection in every way - would be #1 if i wasn't bias for Frank's more alt style here) 3. Lagoona (outfit is so cute, unique, and fun, plus her face is glowing) 4. Clawdeen (i LOVE her but her outfit doesn't hit quite as hard as the top 3) 5. I recently picked up G3 Core Cleo and they have saran hair now. Her hair is more bright blue compared to when Core Cleo first came out where her hair is slight darker blue.
I really love the refresh line of core dolls. I have most of the original g3s as well, except clawdeen and cleo.. so I have no way to side by side those. I agree with you on draculaura, her core doll ATE! 😍
Color and style analysis incoming (from an artistic/design perspective): The main thing I dislike about G3 Refresh Frankie is the pink hair streak in the front. I just think for color palette reasons, Frankie has too many bold colors clashing/competing with each other. The neon green, bright blue, hot pink, light blue skin, black and white--it's all just too much together, imo. I think I like the Day Out outfit the best, but I do really like Frankie with the dark blue makeup. Color palette thoughts: Frankie's G1 design leaned more into dark blue and red and this combination was much more cohesive with the black/white and mint skin. I think G3 Frankie has too much bright going on together. Core refresh Draculaura is SO reminiscent of G1. I adore her hat! But the whole outfit just looks so much better than the G3 1st wave. I think thigh-high tights might have helped the balance of Drac's 1st G3 outfit, but honestly I just don't like the way any of it looks on her shorter curvier body mold. The refresh is a huge improvement! I like Clawdeen's G3 overall design a lot. Her color palette is simple and cohesive. Purple and gold. Done. The Refresh has much better CONTRAST with dark and light purples. The 1st G3 Clawdeen has so much of that pinkish purple everywhere that it just blends together and nothing stands out. They definitely fixed that with the refresh. Cleo's refresh SLAYS. There's nothing I dislike about that doll. She's perfect. She also looks so much like Nefera, my Queen👑. 😂😂😂 Honestly, all G3 Lagoonas disappoint me. 😅 The pink skin, her style, all of it just makes me miss G1 Lagoona. Her yellow-blonde hair just clashes with the pink SO bad. It looked much nicer with her blue skin. Maybe if they switched her to more of an ash blonde I would feel different. I don't like the Y2K cargo/athleisure "style." It just feels so lazy, baggy, and unflattering on her 😅🤣🤣 y'all can disagree, but that's my opinion 😆. I do love Lagoona's Scaradise Island, and her Fan-Sea outfits and hairstyles so much. I wish they had gone more in the direction of beachy/boho/flowy style for our lovely sea monster across all of the outfits. Pink and teal is a fine color palette, but it clashes with her yellow hair, and it can be a very overwhelming color combination with all the busy/boxy/sporty details of her G3 style.

The longer neck makes them look taller which adds to the feeling of the ghouls being older on the new outfits.
