    I'm impressed with the second guy's ankle strength. That's a lot of muscle mass for his ankles/feet to support, so his balance has to be perfect.

      his body will have adapted as well since he has likely trained since childhood. The fascinating thing is that it's tendon health that decides a lot of our ability to absorb and transfer force.

    This form of gymnastic was developed in ancient india by Lord Hanuman in 18th century. Story is, an Arab wresteler came to india in 18th century and challenged indian wrestelers to defeat him. He was a undefeatable kinda wresteler. So an Indian person from state Maharashtra of india named Balambhatdada Deodhar accepted the challenge. He went to jungle and prayed Lord Hanumana for many months. Lord Hanuman resurrected infront of him and he taught him wresteling tricks and this Mallakhamb!

    Everyone who is giving this sport a tag of pole dancing,kindly STOP... Mallakhamb is a traditional Indian sport which has been in practice for over 900 years. Don't disrespect such an amazing sport by calling it "pole dancing" which has been around for like 35 years and mostly used for sexual purposes. Educate yourself before calling this pole dancing.

    • @bwbdalek1

      Mehul Jain yeah, it's definitely not pole dancing. For one, there's no dancing involved.

      Mel Shivson quite ignorant opinion. IMHO. (or maybe you can not see far enough...)

    • @headraline
      @headraline 9 років тому +4

      Mehul Jain well, aside from the fact that "pole dancing" shouldn't feel "disrespectful", because it's as much as a sport as any other when not centered around stripping (because yes, pole dancing and stripping are two different things and it'd be real nice if you "educated yourself" as well, there are some truly amazing athletes out there... I'm not trying to argue or anything, just... don't diss a sport you know very little about just because someone got it wrong with names, please)...
      Aside from that little fact I felt I had to precise, I agree with the rest, it has its own name, and it's not really pole dancing, it might be considered "pole fitness", because it is a form of fitness practice and it involves a pole, but it's a whole different form of art, that damn well deserves its own name.
      (though I must admit there are some pretty similar moves and holds here and there.)
