Can you plug this directly into an outlet and do you have to have a submersible pump already installed? I wanted to purchase the hand pump as a backup and use the motor as my primary source of water.
The LBLD drives use DC power and are designed to be run off of a deep cycle battery, they will not run directly off of AC power. You could use an AC to DC Converter to run the system off of AC power, however if you lost grid power the system would not work. While you do not need to have a submersible pump installed in order to use the LBLD, these are backup system and are not designed to permanently "replace" a submersible pump. It will not be able to pump near the volume of a submersible pump. We do have customers that use these drives as their primary water pump, however they recognize there are limitations and manage their water needs accordingly. One thing to note is that you cannot have both the lever arm and the DC drive installed at the same time. Both use our base pump system, you either have the handle connected to the pump head or the drive system connected to the pump head.
