Scotch locks are insulation displacement connectors that need to bite into solid core cable to make a reliable conductive connection and are used in telephone cabling. The idea is by displacing the insulation, the insulation itself creates an air-tight connection to minimize corrosion. In pits and with aerial cabling there is a jelly-filled variant to repel water penetration. Once again: only for solid core cable.
For electronics its best to solder join with heatshrink or chemically bonded tape for industrial environments.
    Options:
    - You could have run up to 3 40mm noctua fans (with their sides butted) on a noctua controller (eg: NA-FC1)
    - If those chips get too toasty, you may mount noctua fans to the heatsinks, there are smaller 20mm fans that may do wonders dissipating heat by moving air thorough those heatsinks.

I will do a fan swap for a Juniper EX2200-48p, your video pointed me in the right direction. Thanks

IMO I did the same PSU fan swap, still got too warm for me, swapped it with a san ace of the same size. Much quieter.
P.S. The low-noise adapters might melt if you use them on that blower fan. Mine did lol

The telco crimps you used at first don’t need the wire stripped. They can be picky about wire diameter though.

Can I ask, would you think working next to one of these could cause hearing damage? At my work we have one in a small remote office. The office is closet size. I read these were mostly for wiring closets. But its about 2.5 feet from my head. Its on the wall.

I don’t have a good sound meter but I think most switches are well under the 80db level which is what I see for the all day exposure limit. Some equipment can get louder than the limit but these switches don’t run that hot. I’d still try to limit my time right next to it as it would get annoying to me fast.

Is your power supply still OK? I tried this noctua fan in the 930w power supply and it blew up after 10 minutes. Ordered a 320w now and I don't want to blow this one up as well. If your supply is still Ok, I might give it a try.

My switch has been running 24 7 since I posed this video with no issues. I'm guessing it's hotter than the psu wants, and will hurt the lifespan. The bigger 930s psu likely uses more power at idle and low loads and needs more cooling to remove the extra heat.

@@ElectronicsWizardry Thanks for the quick reply. I have two more questions: What is the max. temperature in the room you are using the switch and are you using poe?

My room has ac so probably a max of 80f in the summer. My switch has poe, but I'm only using about 5w of poe power for a access point.

@@ElectronicsWizardry If you need later firmware let me know, I have the same switch.

shocked tf out of my self with the psu, the plates ontop are hot ): I accidentally bought rasp pi fans instead of 40x20 so.

I’d try to get some hearing protection then or something to o block the noise from the fan. A layer of sound absorbing panels can do a lot.
